Now, this just won’t do.
Hiyori purses his lips, eyes sweeping across the corner of the common room that Eden temporarily commandeered to spend a bit of downtime in. It isn’t that different from their typical scene — Ibara, hard at work on his tablet; Nagisa, studying a script with a calm, focused gaze; Jun, tongue peeking out from between his lips as he plays a video game on a portable console. But Hiyori Tomoe is nothing if not the perceptive leader that he proclaims himself to be, and he can practically taste it — the looming, crushing demons of overwork.
That settles it. It’s time for drastic measures.
“Clear your schedules,” Hiyori proclaims loudly, with a smile so wide it nearly makes his cheeks hurt, “because we’re going on vacation~!”

Neuvillette has never been one to much enjoy tea. He supposes the addition of unique flavors and various health benefits that the various teas can bring one is an appealing factor, but Neuvillette still thinks there is nothing better than a cool glass of water. Still, tea — in whatever flavor and with whatever benefits — is far preferred to the dry, crumbly pastries sitting atop the table in front of him, so Neuvillette takes another sip of the warm beverage as he sizes up the Fatui Harbinger in front of him.
Arlecchino smiles — but maybe it is incorrect to call it a smile, when it instead reminds Neuvillette of the way one bears their teeth before devouring a meal. He does not trust her.
“That is something worth truly cherishing,” Arlecchino continues steadily, “and no one wishes to disrupt such peace…”
No, he does not trust her at all.

“What the hell does it mean,” Ibara says once she’s swallowed her next mouthful of wine, “when your boss starts paying you to gossip with her at a cafe for an hour. While on company time.”
Jun sets his bag down, moving into the kitchen and grabbing two packets of instant ramen. “Is that why it’s a wine day?” He refills their electric kettle, turning it on while he grabs a pot and two bowls. “I mean, if you’re still getting paid, I don’t see the issue.”
“I’m getting paid extra,” Ibara stresses. “As in, Tomoe Hiyori, for some fucking reason, thinks it’s worth her time and money to hand me double what I would make in that same hour in cash once I get back to my desk.”

or, ibara's boss starts asking ibara to do things that definitely aren't covered in her contract, and ibara cannot for the life of her figure out why. but, hey, she's never been one to turn down a paycheck. especially not from someone as fine as tomoe hiyori.

Summary
started as a “what if the marine bio club were mermaids” au and ryuseitai and undead got involved. each fic can technically be read as standalone; while this series probably would have fit well as a multichaptered fic with more intensive worldbuilding, i chose to write it as a fic/drabble series to keep it fun and challenging for myself
