   Summary

   Insatiable and fervent is the thirst of a man anchored; for the great expanse far past a mainland he only ever longed for. It still burned him. Harder and brighter than his father's death. Still made him want to rip and roar and rend the world into pieces.

   He was drowning. In duty and honor and blasted obligation. It was blood that brought him here. Both bequeathed and spilled and he didn't know what to do with it. He felt it all, that rage. Too keenly, too sharply. His soul howled like a night storm and no amount of virtue, faith, or even alcohol could stand to bury it.

   A wicked thing, destiny. Fierce and conniving and so unbelievably petty to thrust you of all people on the shores of Berk.

   For if Hiccup could not reach the world, it would find a way to reach him instead.
