There is a brilliant display in the window, tiers of stuffed sea creatures against a vivid blue backdrop. It’s colorful, and the plush animals on display look incredibly soft, fluffed to perfection, waiting for the arms of a small child to squeeze them to their chest.

Ace is dead when Luffy dreams of him. Ace is cold and rotting. His skin falls off of his face, and the sun smiles down at them. The sun is covered with clouds, dark and mean and rolling, and the sky opens up and the sea pours down. Luffy drowns, and Ace sinks to the bottom of the world like a rock. The thunder sounds like drums, and the drums sound like Nami’s heartbeat, and the heartbeat sounds like a prayer.
