Chizome unhands her once it’s clear she no longer needs the stability. “Ketsu—”
“No, not Ketsu. She’s not a good excuse.”
“Of course she is,” he retorts.
They are clearly involved in some sort of relationship. What other reason would there be?
Chizome asks as much, but all Mei does is stare at him, all narrowed eyes and knitted brows, as if that is a question he is expected to already know the answer to. He supposes he should. After all, no other excuses end up coming to mind. Ketsu is all he has. That’s why, even as he wrestles with logic, his piqued curiosity leaves him to wonder over what if’s.
His and Ketsu’s tastes have never strayed far apart.

Turning his gaze down again, he chews on the inside of his cheek at the sight of the wolf’s blood in the snow. The voices are one part elated at the wolf’s recovery and two parts suddenly desperate for blood, and Techno has to force down the urge to give in.
“Quit it,” he snaps, voice uncharacteristically angry. “I’m not doin’ that.”
The sudden shift in tone quiets them down.

Izuku can’t help but be plagued with thoughts of what could’ve been. With Katsuki, obviously, because somehow he takes up all of Izuku’s free thoughts with messy what if’s and dashed hopes of rekindling…whatever they were even running towards.
It’d be realistic thinking, maybe, if Katsuki and him had stayed in contact at all after graduation—after the airport.
It could’ve been nice, he wistfully thinks. Maybe it could’ve been during one of the Christmas parties. Making cookies, exchanging presents, the whole shebang. A confession…

Chizome lets out a frustrated huff. Then, much quieter, “Why didn’t you answer any of my letters?”
Mei’s inhale is sharp, taken aback. “You wrote me letters?”
She never received any. She’d been given all the information on her housing situation before flying out, and she remembers her and Chizome looking up the penthouse online and ‘ooh’ing and ‘ahh’ing over how luxurious it was. He knew the address, but she never got anything in the mail from him.
“Hundreds,” Chizome admits, eyes trained on the marble below his plate. “Maybe thousands. I dunno. I’ve been writing them for so long I lost track.”

Summary
Sero rubs the back of his neck. “I’m glad you’re all alright. Where are we?”
Nobody says anything for a moment. It’s tense, much like the still air around them, and Sero wonders if they’re in some sort of pocket dimension. Did that man teleport them all somewhere? Trap them?
Finally, an older man reveals, “Tetris.”
“Tetris?”
They have to be joking. Sero isn’t in an arcade game. The eight of them aren’t in an arcade game.
But none of them are smiling or holding back laughter. Sero glances back at the purple rectangle from before and realizes that’s one of the pieces…and another one, green and with the sound from before accompanying it, is already swiftly descending.
