Summary
Unlearning the lessons Shigeo had taught himself for five years is quite an undertaking. Uncorking those emotions and being forced to process them is overwhelming, after so long of having relative silence. He thought he’d gotten it down; thought he’d had it. It’s not so hard to laugh.
Dealing with fifteen years of trauma is also quite an undertaking, one that piles atop his carefully recovered shell with a vengeance. And it turns out that, despite his efforts, he’s been doing more harm to himself than good.
And it might just kill him.

“You’re not human,” Ayato says instead, cutting his sentence short.
“I am not,” the Iudex confirms, seemingly unbothered by the blunt interruption.
“You’re not an Archon, either,” he continues, straightening his back. Neuvillette is sitting beside him, so he doesn’t stand up. There’s a sharp ache somewhere in his torso as he speaks, and all he can do to subdue it is to fight his way through regaining the upper hand. “I cannot think of anything else that could deactivate a vision other than the owner’s death. What are you, Monsieur Neuvillette?”
After the destruction of the Hydro Archon’s divine throne, Neuvillette finds himself dealing with a great number of issues he was far from prepared to face. The extremely unlikely solution to one of them somehow ends up appearing at his doorstep in the form of a commissioner from Inazuma and the Hydro vision he carries with him.

Summary
When Kaveh announces that he’ll need to temporarily stop taking suppressants, Alhaitham assumes that he must be an omega. After all, that’s the only logical reason that Kaveh would have pretended to be a beta for all this time. It’s the only logical reason that Kaveh would ask Alhaitham, an alpha, to leave the house for two weeks.
Except Alhaitham has made a rare miscalculation—and helping Kaveh will be much more difficult than Alhaitham expected, when his own instincts keep pulling him in two different directions.
“To clarify,” Alhaitham says, “you’re saying you’ll feel safer if I’m not here. Do I have that correct?”
“That—that’s not exactly what I said.”
“You said that you don’t know if it’s safe. That implies a degree of uncertainty, which means that you’ll feel less uncertain—and therefore safer—if I’m not around.” When Kaveh doesn’t respond, Alhaitham adds, “I’m just making sure I understand the situation correctly.”
“To be honest,” Kaveh says, “I don’t think you understand the situation at all.”
