This was partially because he knew, instinctively, that R would agree - he’s got experience with these things, has always understood this part of Enjolras, from the beginning. Combeferre, while they’ve been together for longer, is a natural worrier, for whom boundaries and gentleness and respect are such fundamental pillars of his identity that asking him to bend those even slightly requires a great deal of careful discussion and patience. […]
In this particular case, Enjolras had laid everything out for him. What somnophilia was, what about it appealed to him, what he fantasised about. And Combeferre had listened, silent and thoughtful, not once interrupting. Once Enjolras was through pleading his case, as it were, he had looked up at him, warm, honey-brown eyes meeting his, and had simply asked;
“What is it, exactly, that you would want us to do to you?”
And Enjolras, heat inexplicably flooding his cheeks, had told him.

Summary
Grantaire slides up to Combeferre as soon as he arrives at the bar and says, “Guess who asked me to go on holiday with him.”
It is a testament to how well Combeferre understands all of his friends that he doesn’t miss a beat. “Enjolras invited you to the cabin with us?” he asks, and Grantaire frowns at the apparent genuine surprise in Combeferre’s voice.
“You’re telling me you weren’t the mastermind behind this?” Grantaire checks, because he has to know for sure.

"Grantaire sighed and made to follow his friends just as the man turned to face the audience and stared directly at him. Grantaire gasped, a sound he would have been embarrassed by if it was not for several other members of the audience doing the same, feeling every single hair on his body stand up as his brain told him to run, run, run; towards the creature or far, far away, he was not sure.
Those eyes-
By God, this was no man."
Or: The one where Enjolras is a siren captured and used as attraction by the Thénardiers and Grantaire is a sailor who somehow joins them and becomes the siren's new guard.
