Summary
Poplar, London. 1963.
Patsy has returned from Hong Kong following her father's death. After a passionate reunion with Delia, they set about rebuilding their lives together. Delia begins her journey as a midwife, helped on by Val and Phyllis. Nonnatus house employs a new midwife in Lucille. Trixie suffers a relapse and both Patsy and Delia are battling with their own health, mental and physical - but seeking help is never easy. Everything comes to a head when Patsy suspects abuse within a family and Nonnatus House is shaken by a tragedy.
A fic based loosely off series 7 if Patsy and Delia were to not disappear and travel the globe. Written as close to the style of the show and its characters as possible with some original characters and plot twists to be had along the way.
EDIT: I'm so sorry this fic has been abandoned. I aim to return to it someday. Until then, I hope you can enjoy reading knowing I was going for an eventual happy ending!

“I don’t really have any other nicknames,” Greta says carefully, her pinky stretching out across the bedspread to rub briefly against Carson’s leg. “None that have stuck, anyway.”
And Carson hears the unspoken line there, feels her heart grow heavy at the implication that Greta’s never really had anyone permanent enough in her life to warrant nicknames that stick, not besides Jo, and she’s a bit taken aback at the fierceness with which the thought flies into her brain. I wanna be permanent for you, she thinks, rubbing the new-ish bareness at the base of her ring finger with her thumb.
“Oh,” is what she says instead, and Greta gives her a weak smile before moving to get up and go back to her bed.
Carson reaches up and grabs her hand loosely, and Greta pauses at the side of the bed, looking down at Carson, their fingers twisting together for a moment before dropping apart, Greta’s eyes flicking toward the half-open door. “Could I,” Carson starts, swallowing hard. “Could I maybe, um… maybe give you one?”
OR: After noticing that Greta has multiple names for her, Carson decides she needs to find her own nickname for Greta, too. It's harder than she expects it to be.
