    “That man’s going to kill him,” Jesse says with his neck craned as far as it will go.

    “Yep,” Kix agrees solemnly.

    “You never know,” Echo says. “He’s squeezed better outcomes out of worse odds.”

    (Fives decides that he's going to join the illustrious, mysterious, and oh-so exclusive Commanders Batch, and he's going to start by becoming besties with Commander Cody. Rex cannot stop this trainwreck but he can certainly watch it happen in slow motion - and occasionally he can offer a word or two of advice.)

    Observation: Tobirama got sleepy when he cycled his chakra.

    Background: Tobirama was a powerful sensor. People exposed to soothing things got sleepy.

    Hypothesis: Tobirama found Madara’s chakra soothing (!! <3 !!)

    Experiment: Surreptitiously cycle his chakra at shorter intervals until his beloved was fast asleep. As it went on, he found it to be doubley effective if he spoke while he cycled, otherwise Tobirama would cling to his train of thought despite his obvious exhaustion.

    Results: Tobirama, loose and heavy and precious in his arms. Excellent. Wonderful. Madara felt like a genius. Tobirama was so deeply asleep that Madara could move him around, get his head up against his shoulder so it wouldn’t wobble, and his arm down from around his shoulders so both his icy hands were tucked between their bodies.

    Conclusions: Madara had a superpower. Also, he needed to get his beloved some gloves. Or convince him to give Madara the duty of keeping his hands warm by holding them.

    He was aware that he made for an awful scientist. That didn’t matter half as much as becoming the best husband
