His heart hurt when he thought about where they were, about whether they were still even on New Altea or not. He couldn’t let her get hurt, not when she had so much life still left in her. They had said they were coming back for him, he recalled, and he would take the chance he was given. It didn’t matter how injured he was, or how bad the odds looked. He had to try.

Summary
Love is in the small gestures. In the aftermath of the fall, Shiro takes care of Keith through his recovery. Keith learns to let him.
When Keith wakes up the first time, Shiro is there.
It’s an ebb and flow, a tide pulled between bone deep ache and drug-addled awareness. Keith feels the push of air over his skin, cool and clean, before he hears the whir of a fan somewhere in the room. There’s soft blue light behind his eyes, but he squints and tries to block it out. The muscles in his face are sluggish and numb, and his head feels entirely too heavy on his neck. A groan crawls up his throat like he’s spitting out gravel. Summary
Shiro catches Keith’s full body wince when Red lands, despite the lion setting down as gently as she could.
“You good?” he whispers as Keith slowly hauls himself to his feet, ignoring Shiro’s outstretched hand.
Keith nods and then gestures for Shiro and Kolivan to precede him down to meet the team.
Shiro hesitates. “Do you want to go to the pod? Your shoulder didn’t look good and I can handle the meeting.”
“No, I can do this. Let’s go.”
