Summary
It starts like this: Shauna and Jackie are fighting.
Shauna slams the door as she goes outside, leaving Jackie alone inside.
Lottie doesn't understand what's just happened because it wasn't supposed to happen this way. Right?
Or:
The first snow comes, and somethings different. Someone that was never supposed to go outside gets caught in the cold. It wasn't supposed to happen this way. Things will never be the same.
A fic about what happens if Jackie and Shauna switch places, told through the dual POV of Jackie and Lottie. There's angst, sorrow, strife, and somehow just a little bit of happiness found along the way between a girl who had everything and lost it and a girl who had nothing and now has too much.
"Someone I loved once gave me
a box of darkness. It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift." -- "The Uses of Sorrow" by Mary Oliver -

Summary
Natalie looks reflective. And then her face draws into something soft and tender and Lottie doesn’t remember Natalie ever looking at her this way before. Maybe close to, but never fully. She remembers the tub, she remembers holding onto Natalie’s hand longer than she should have. She remembers asking her to stay and Natalie agreeing without hesitation. She remembers every time Natalie looked at her without anger in her eyes and how she would hide the memories away in place that the medication and the electricity couldn’t touch them.
“Lottie,” Natalie starts, and her voice is soft, a secret for only them to hear, “I’m not the drunk one.”

Summary
So that was how Misty Quigley landed herself in the psych ward next to the general hospital. And, really, it wasn’t all that bad. She got three free meals a day, there were plenty of people to talk to (about Natalie), a big TV in the lounge, lots of books to read, magazines to flip through, and she had a nice room with a nice bed and no one looked at her like she was crazy. (Mostly because they all were, but who was keeping track? Not Misty.)
The only problem with this specific hospital?
There was a one Charlotte fucking Matthews admitted here as well.
And even worse , she was Misty’s roommate .
(The scandal!)
Or
Misty and Lottie play Battleship.

Summary
I’m sorry. Have I ever told you that? If I did, did you even believe it? I’m not sure if I would believe it if I were you, but I’m still sorry. I didn’t mean for everything to turn out the way it did with Javi, then Ben, then everybody else, but it’s still my fault. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I’m sorry.
Out there, I thought that I was fearless. Here, I don’t think I’ve ever been so afraid. They claim that they’re making me feel better, but I feel like I get worse with every passing day. I don’t know when they’ll let me out, or if they even will. I don’t know if I should even be allowed to go out. Nothing feels real anymore.
OR: A series of letters sent between Lottie Matthews and Natalie Scatorccio over the course of several months, the moments in between, and what happens after.
