Summary
Nat isn’t sure why she’s calling Misty, but she has Misty’s number memorized and sometimes it buzzes in her head at times like these. Nat got out of rehab two days ago and made it to a bar today. Getting drunk is better than calling her dealer, so Nat justified it. But she only had two drinks before she started feeling guilty and thinking of the money Tai had just spent on her. Normally, she probably would keep drinking, but she really just wanted someone to comfort her. The answer was obvious, who she wanted comfort from. It wasn’t the first time she’d thought of calling Misty like this.
----
It's been three years since the Yellowjackets got rescued from the wilderness, and it seems like Misty and Natalie are going in opposite directions. Misty has a nursing job and lives in her own apartment while Natalie is crashing at a motel after her most recent stint at rehab. Not too long ago, though, Natalie was staying at Misty's apartment. Since then, they've barely spoken in months until Natalie calls Misty from outside of a bar seeking comfort and a ride to Misty's apartment.

Summary
Misty tilts her head and knocks again, so Natalie rolls the window down. “What the fuck are you doing?” she asks stupidly.
Unsurprisingly, Misty ignores the question. “Hey, Nat,” she chirps, as though it’s only been a week since they’d last seen each other instead of three and a half years. “Thought I recognized you!”
Or: Nat tries (and fails) to blackmail Misty into staying away from the press. Five months later, they meet again at Shauna's wedding.

Summary
Natalie at twenty-nine is a disaster; she’s just gotten out of rehab for the third time, has split up with Travis (again), lacks any real ambition for her life, and has no intention of staying clean.
Natalie wasn’t made for fragile—not sobriety, not love, and definitely not family.
Until she’s puking in Taissa’s guest bathroom, staring down those two pink lines, and a girl she thought she’d never see again shows up on her front porch.
Unstoppable force, meet unmovable object.

VYH is Vevobly's Yellowjackets Headcanons for short. I figured it was way too long for a title, so I changed it. Anyways! As the title says, these are my personal yellowjackets reader insert headcanons. Some were made out of my boredom, some were requested, and some were suggested by my friends. Nonetheless, I hope you devour and enjoy them.

Summary
“That means I’ll see you next year,” Lottie said, smiling like they were friends and not just two people who sometimes nodded at each other in the halls.
Natalie would lay in bed later that night and wonder if that was what it felt like to be seen. To have the layers peeled back like the skin of an orange, to be admired pith and all. She wondered if Lottie felt that way all the time, like the whole world was watching, hanging on her every move. If it got exhausting to be adored. Or if she even felt that way at all, if being stared at like the most important thing in the room was so normal that she didn’t even notice.
Somehow, she didn’t think so.
A pathetic, “Uh yeah, I guess you will,” was all she could muster.
And as Lottie walked away, Natalie couldn’t shake the feeling that she had somehow irreversibly screwed herself.
Icarus, meet fucking sun.

Summary
“Jackie, cut it out, you’re acting like a child.” Shauna’s voice was stern, her frustration growing increasingly evident. “But Shaunaaa, I miss you”, Jackie whines, wide eyed. They hold eye contact for a short while, as quiet engulfs the room. No more annoying commentary, no more soft humming from the static of the TV speakers. Silence. Jackie fiddles with a seam coming undone on the sofa, waiting in suspense for Shauna’s response. “Okay baby. I understand. Wait there, I’ll be right back”. Huh. That was easy. Almost too easy. Jackie was confused, but she wasn’t about to complain."

Summary
2003.
Shauna Shipman writes horror. Real horror. The kind that makes you scared to turn the lights off. She's good at it. She knows what it's like to huddle around a campfire, trembling at shadows. She knows what human flesh tastes like.
And her readership loves it. Nobody moves more copies than her, except Stephen King.
Then Jackie Taylor shows up at an author meet and greet for Shauna's latest novel. Jackie, who she hasn't spoken to since that horrible month out in the woods. Jackie, who's haunted Shauna's every dream, every nightmare since 1996.
And maybe now Shauna can fix what she broke seven years ago.
Except, she might not get a chance. Something's happening. Their old teammates are dying. Dying in bloody, hideous ways. Dying the way people die in Shauna's books. Something followed them back from the Wilderness. And it wants them all dead.
