Summary
Something lingers in the woods. It has a body of inkpot black, and its limbs are too long, too thin to be human. When you look into its eyes, you find it has double the amount you do. Its eyes are flat and white like sheets of ice. When it speaks, it growls and distorts. It is a nightmare given form.
Some say it can turn into a person. It can become as non-descript as the man in the tavern you get your whiskey from; It can be as powerful as the people who collect your taxes. You would never know until it is too late.
They call it a monster.
His name is Virgil.

A lot of these stories will touch on uglier parts of being queer, such as discourse and discrimination, but know I will always give content warnings at the beginning of each fic. Look before you leap, if you are worried of falling.

Summary
Janus is allowed to participate in the group, and that is more than enough for them. Almost thirty years of basically not existing right into being able to do their goddamn job at long last? Not too bad of a change up, really, and they aren't going to complain about it any time soon. Patton, however, insists on throwing a wrench into their system- their perfectly functioning, if maybe hypothetically a bit lonely, system. They wished they could be more angry about it than they were.
(In which Janus is accepted, has an identity crisis, and fumbles their way through growth and trust, all the while not nearly as alone as they'd like to convince themself they are.)

Virgil is determined to have a nice, non-stressful, pleasant day for once. Predictably, he isn't very good at it.
Could he be blamed, when all he can hear is Patton and Roman and Thomas berating each other? When he knows that no matter how much he feels like he should be there, he just can't do it?
Nothing was working. So, when Remus shows up, Virgil figures that his bad day can't get any worse. This might as well happen.
