The dark, stained metal of the sink radiated a chill that went straight to her bones as she held her hands under the rush of water. It raced down the drain, swirling in reds and pinks and finally clear as she washed the blood from her hands. Shaking her hands slightly, she twisted the water off and made eye contact with herself in the scratched and grimy mirror. No matter how much her hands shook against the cold metal, she held herself upright long enough to drink in her appearance

ABSTRACT:
In the last few decades, fanfiction has become an increasingly popular form of written media. Online fandom communities, which rally around shared interests and create content surrounding them, mediate characters, relationships, and plotlines through their creation and consumption of written fanwork. Young people especially engage with fanfiction in a creative and affective way in order to negotiate, analyze, and reimagine aspects of their shared media interest. One such media interest is that of Marvel superhero Captain America, who appears as a main character in both the Marvel Comics and the hugely popular Marvel Cinematic Universe film franchise. These two media sources, however, sometimes have very different representations of the character. In the case of the Captain America fandom, fanfiction acts as a locus of a reassimilation of these differing character representations. This thesis argues that Captain America fanfiction adds depth to a character wiped clean by movie makers and acts as a locus of reclamation, re-politicization, and identity exploration. -

A re-write of the Harry Potter series in which Lily Potter's ghost remains attached to Harry in order to continue protecting her son. Also features an edited prophecy, Harry not being a horcrux, and a number of other canon divergences that result directly or indirectly from Lily's presence.
Main series stories will be titled "Well That Just Won't Do - Book X" and will follow Harry's life from Halloween 1981 to Post-Second War. Companion pieces focused on other characters have short, concept-based titles like "Freedom and Recovery" and "Surviving".
