    “What is the end goal here?” Megumi shouted over the chaos.

    “Hit people with food, obviously,” Nobara said. She was then hit in the side with a handful of chicken nuggets, courtesy of Todo.

    “But, like, when you’re hit, are you out?”

    “You’re out when you’re out.”

    “Is that supposed to mean something?”

    Nobara nodded solemnly. “You’ll know when you’re out.”

    They both turned just in time to see Yuuji wind up before chucking a Dorito Loco at Todo. Todo pulled off an impressive windmill kick, hitting it out of the way and firing back immediately with a Quarter Pounder. Yuuji punched through it effortlessly, bits of meat peppering his clothes. Nobara heard Megumi audibly gulp.

    In all honesty, a food fight with participants who were, at the very least, old enough to vote was stupid as fuck. But if Yuuji and Todo were leading the opposing sides, shit got interesting.

    FOOD FIGHT!!! everyone is alive, everyone is gay, everyone is happy, and everyone is a massive idiot. what more could you possibly need?

    While the Boss was doing who knows what that obviously Ocelot knew, but pretended he didn't. But neither did Venom or Kaz.

    It was a repeated phrase between the two, and Kaz knew he knew what his reply always was.

    “I’ll do that when he tells us first,” Kaz said.

    It’s a bit like trying on an old jacket, settling into Jackson. The general shape of it is familiar, even comforting in its own way, but there’s an adjustment period, a little breaking-in until everything fits like it should.

    Well, it’s like an old jacket for him. The way Ellie looks sometimes, completely bewildered and turning to him for reassurance or clarification, he thinks it’s a bit more like trying on a Halloween costume for her.

    Tommy and Maria had brought them their meals at first, and he’d at least been gratified to get some real food into her. After Silver Lake, she’d been off all meat for a long while, and in the hospital, exhaustion and pain had stolen what little appetite she’d managed to recover by that point. There’d been a little adjustment period here in Jackson, when they fell back on their routine of him taking bites of meat first to reassure her they were safe, but she’s slowly begun building back some flesh on her skinny little self, and it’s like he can feel a bit of his own restlessness settle with each plate of cheesy potatoes she downs with relish.

    Tsukasa’s out of breath, panting a little with exertion as he leans against the doorway of Rui’s classroom with one hand. He must’ve sprinted over between classes for whatever it is he seems to need him for, Rui observes, curious.

    He turns in his chair to face his visitor. “Tsukasa-kun? What brings you here?”

    “…Do you by chance have your gym uniform today?” Tsukasa asks.

    Rui tilts his head. Tsukasa’s face is strained, as if he’s about to do something he really doesn’t want to do.

    “I do, but I’m not sure I follow.”

    “Can I borrow it?”

    Or, the chronicles of Tsukasa stealing Rui’s clothes (whether it be purposefully or otherwise).
