Summary
This is the day they stoop the lowest. The child lays on the table, arms and legs tied down to prevent them struggling, to prevent any movement. They discover a way to keep the child in an endless state of regeneration, harvesting the regenerative powers into a flood of golden energy stored in the most precious containers. The crowd outside cheers. The child trapped in a loop of death and rebirth screams until their voice goes hoarse and they can scream no longer. The sounds harmonize into the song of discovery.

Summary
They begin to talk, slowly, tentatively, as they settle into a routine and settle into this new normality. It begins with a simple slip of the tongue,
“Jon, do you think we need more tea at home?”
Martin seems to hardly realize what he’s said, but Jon, Jon notices, and smiles a little, at the ease at which they’re settling into this new life. This life, with their home, where they are safe, for now. The beginning of their new lives, albeit hiding from their all knowing boss with whatever devious plan he has. They are learning how to survive.

She does a good job of hiding, of running, of distracting her friends from the worst of the universe, of not bringing them places that will remember her, that will know who she is, that will show her friends her legacy. Of course, she can’t run forever and has moments, occasional slips but her friends aren’t there, aren’t watching and she can let the mask slip, for a moment, as she bares her teeth at a Dalek in an imitation of a grin and says her name, and watches with vindication as it moves back in fear.

He turns away to his satchels of tea, making a ruse of choosing one to be a much larger deal than it really is. “I really couldn’t say, Miss Jester,” he says, and hides his smile behind their backs.
It is strange, truly, and maybe Caduceus shouldn’t encourage it, but he likes it. He likes– not necessarily being the center of attention, that isn’t exactly altogether comfortable, but– touching, cuddling, it’s… warm, and comforting, and it’s nice to be the center of that. It’s greedy, and selfish, sure. But it also serves that he can keep them close to him, too, and that feels good. Feels right.
