"I know" Was the murmured response, his sharp glare not being met.
"I don't know where you got that photo," He spoke, standing and turning to watch a bright sun dip behind skyscrapers where it resided for the night before showing up the next morning as if it'd never left. "But I didn't cheat."

"Shit. You're founder of the leaders, so, maybe not."
Kiara gradually grins all funny, turns to him looking at her, and all he does is smirks back.

JJ opened one eye at her and smirked, “Somethin’ botherin’ you this fine evening?”
“Oh, you know, just homeless, hungry, poor, no family, and John B and I got in a fight ‘cause he keeps acting so weird … other than that, everything’s just peachy.” Sarah looked at him, turning her head to see him looking at her with a sad expression. It was an expression she’d never only really seen on JJ once before, it was a face of recognition.
“Welcome to the club,” JJ pulled his hat down over his eyes as he said, “too broke to be Kook, and apparently now, too orphaned to be a Pogue.”
Or, Sarah doesn't go with Topper. Instead, she goes back to the chateau where she finds JJ waiting for John B to come home.
OR Sarah chose one small different path that changes the trajectory of every one of the Pogue's lives.
or... Sarah just really ships Kie and JJ and will be JJ's therapist if it means he stops being an idiot and tells her he loves her. Lots of jiara, lots of pogues being pogues.

“Would you…” Kie stopped, because how the hell was she supposed to ask this question? And especially to this boy. John B would have been a little too earnest and specific, Pope would have been awkward and scientific, but with JJ, everything was a joke. She couldn’t bear it if she got made fun of for this.
But JJ just blinked at her, his gaze steady and soft blue. He wasn’t the right boy, exactly, but he was the one in front of her. The one who stayed.
"Do you think you would kiss me?"

There’s the fourth member, too. JJ. Bass, the boy who sounded like every sun she had watched crawl over the horizon from the beach. The boy whose gaze she had met in the crowd like their eyes were magnets seeking each other out. Quietest onstage, but used his instrument like he was born with it. He doesn’t go for a towel or a journalist: instead, one of the roadies come up to him, takes his bass, then tapes up his thumb with gaffa tape and cotton wool. There’s a line of dried blood that runs down the inside of his palm, and he sucks it into his mouth, pink mouth becoming even pinker. His hair, dusty blond, dark gold with perspiration, sticks to his forehead.
Kie thinks, oh.
or, Kiara is a music journalist waiting for her big break, and JJ is the bassist in a band that might just be the answer.
