Summary
Dave is just trying to make it with his new band and keep the world from crashing down around him, the wounds of his firing from Metallica still fresh. Not having a permanent place to stay is making those things difficult, so he relies on dealing (and using) drugs to improve his situation. After business dries up, though, he's left hungry and desperate enough to consider an opportunity from a stranger to make ends meet. Not to mention his ex-bandmate/ex-friend/ex-something-or-other who he keeps running into.

August 14, 1997. Murdoc is seeking out instruments for his new (and still yet to be formed) band and stumbles upon a place called Uncle Norm's Organ Emporium. There, he meets an intriguing clerk named Stuart, who has a passion for keyboards— and being completely oblivious to Murdoc's advances. Stuart tries to sell Murdoc on a piano, while Murdoc tries to sell Stuart on himself.
(Or: 2D and Murdoc meet the day before D-Day. Neither are aware of what's to come)

Dave stood slowly, glaring. “Are you asking me to go in her place?”
There was a long pause. Lars nodded.
“As her?” Dave said, incredulous.
“Yes.” Lars said, as sweetly as possible.
“You absolute lunatic. Do I look like a lady to you?”
“A little.” Lars offered, trying not to laugh.
1700s. Dave was a struggling painter who agreed to impersonate a noblewoman for one night at a royal ball in exchange for connections. But he might’ve bitten off more than he could chew.
