They're staring at the same abyss from completely different angles — each considering different variables whenever their knees tremble. It's addictive. Lascivious. It's a text message after midnight. It's a stolen promise disguised in silver and revenge.

Summary
Evidences of being alive, of being real don't always look like the dissection of big emotions, or the complex methods of distraction. Sometimes, these little proofs of existence are as simple as counting. Counting fingers, toes and teeth with her tongue. Counting. One plus one, and every other number that comes after two hours sitting in the corner looking at her bathroom tiles.

Sometimes it gets too much, and Kate doesn't know what to do. She's still learning, still adapting, and having someone there to hold her up and remind her of how to function is good.

Summary
The reaction is almost immediate — or at least it feels like it.
Straightening her back, Agatha jumps off the stool, supporting herself on her wobbly legs and on the hands that now grip onto the edges of the counter. The pink on her cheeks is disguised by the fire that shrinks her pupils and shortens her breath.
“Vidal,” she spits, a wicked smile contorting her face. “Dare I ask why… Why do you keep haunting my Saturday nights?”
Alice and Lilia share a glance. Rio simply hides her hands in the back pockets of her jeans. “You shouldn't be drinking this much, Agatha.”
“How much I drink is none of your business.”
It is when you make it a habit of drunk-dialing my number when you reach your peak.

Summary
It’s totally fine, because Emma’s known about Regina’s bisexuality from the third day of their cohabitation. Regina had been dating this dud named Robin when Emma first moved in and when Emma made some stupid joke about marriage, Regina backed her up against the couch and went off on her for almost twenty minutes about heteronormativity and bi-erasure.
“My foster sister, Ruby is bisexual,” Emma had said with a shrug.
Regina had narrowed her eyes at her.

Summary
You are holding a bag full of gifts and the apple pie you made - which doesn’t make a lick of sense, because why oh why would Snow want you to make an apple pie for Christmas Eve dinner is beyond you - and standing at the door, willing yourself to knock, to put on a brave face and just knock, when the door swings open. There’s a very real feeling of magic snapping to your fingers as you stare, eyebrow raised, at the pirate who opened the door. Of course he’s here…
“The evil que-”
“If you value your life at all,” you cut him off, raising your chin slightly to appear much more dangerous than you feel these days, “you won’t finish that sentence.” You tap the toe of your left heel on the wood floor outside of the apartment and revel just slightly in the way that his demeanor changes and his shoulders fall just enough to make him look like the scumbag he really is.

Summary
“Are you sure sure?”
Emma stares at Ruby standing behind her through the propped mirror on the dining table as her friend quirks a brow. Valid enough question, she thinks. This is, indeed, a big change for her. But it’s one that’s been itching in the back of her mind for months. Every time she puts her hair up in a ponytail. Every time she puts a beanie on to keep it out of her face. Every time she washes her hair and the weight of it seems heavier on her shoulders. It’s the longest time she’s sat on a decision for someone whose impulse control leaves a lot to be desired. That must mean something.
“Yeah, Rubes. I’m sure sure.”
Ruby throws a half hearted salute back at her along with a reassuring grin before taking a pair of scissors to the bundle of her ponytail. Emma closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She clutches at the towel around her neck and tries to focus her attention on the sounds filtering through the open window of Ruby’s apartment. She hopes the sound of people coming and going through Granny’s just beneath them will drown out the snipping sound of the scissors cutting through her golden curls.
