I really do not think any of your peers will look twice at me in a poorly-lit gymnasium when they are preoccupied with their own significant others or otherwise inebriated from the inevitable spiked community punch bowl, which will be avoided at all costs if only from a contamination standpoint."

They hadn’t told him, but Donnie had eyes. He could observe it. He wasn’t asking for thanks or open appreciation— he knew people only did that when they wanted something more from him or wanted to hurt him. Knowing they were content without him because of his actions was all that mattered.
(He missed praise. He missed turtle piles, and pizza weeks, and movie nights where they watched his favorites and actually engaged with them. He missed karaoke and DDR and biweekly Powerpoint nights where he deliberately picked the most moronic topic to rant about like a madman, just to revel in the sound of Leo shrieking with laughter.
And God, he missed S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N, so so much. Something had broken in him when he’d found his AI chip in the rubble, unsalvageable. Something about the grief of it all had made everything feel worthless. Even if he yearned for it—that didn’t really matter anymore, did it? It was gone.)
(or: in the middle of building their new lair, donnie is cursed. not wanting to slow himself down, he resolves to keep it from his family.
little does he know, that is the exact problem that got him cursed in the first place.)

“I’m Leonardo Hamato. These are my brothers, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo Hamato. And these are our friends, April O’Neil and Casey Jones. We’re from an alternate dimension, and we could use your help getting home.”
Leo stares at them. Stares and stares and stares while they all stare right back. He has a million questions, and he’s sure his brothers will have a million more, but for now… there’s only one appropriate response to this situation.
“Goddamnit!” Leo shouts suddenly, making the others jump. “I owe Donnie twenty bucks now!”
tldr: A nice, short little story of 2012 gang getting punted into the 2018 dimension and meeting the 2018 gang. :)
