Summary
Henry works at a café, while keeping his civilian life anonymous from his viral biker TikTok account.
Hans is the nepo-baby heir to a bank, while finding what fleeting joy he can in clubs in the arms of strangers. Unbeknownst to him, he's an avid follower of Henry's account.
One late morning, Hans is having a terrible, not-very-good wake up on the way to work. He pops in at a café for breakfast - a café where Henry works as a waiter. Henry in turn is having a very usual day, up until a pompous entitled suit cuts in the line. A suit whose cocky face lights up with genuine delight at the drinks Henry makes.
Two frappés and a couple of days later there's a spark in the air between them.
A spark that later finds them together in the local gay nightclub. They burn fast, they burn bright, neither sure if they want to stay or want to go.

Summary
Barney Calhoun is a security officer tired to the bone. He has an easy, stable job, a stable income and good colleagues he could call his friends. Life has a routine to it. He has it better than many do. Yet his easy job consists of him fixing squeaky chairs and scientists belittling him. He can't shake the empty feeling stubbornly stuck right in his chest.
Gordon Freeman is a freshly graduated theoretical physicist, hailed with honors and plucked from the academic life by recommendation of his old mentor, Dr. Kleiner. Instead of contributing to achievements that could make lasting impacts on the future, his intellect is constantly questioned and he is handed menial tasks, by virtue of not being able to speak but to a handful of people. Somedays he feels like he's not even part of the human race anymore.
Chance meetings and vent crawlings borne out of frustration later Gordon finds himself whisked into the security team's social circles.

From the dawning look of understanding and sympathy on her face, Gordon was once again affirmed that it was instantly, readily accepted that it was a physical disability preventing him from speaking. That he was a normal guy despite not talking. That he didn't have a humiliating mental lock that had persisted since childhood.

Hans grabs his knees and pushes them wider apart, staring at the wounds for a moment before letting go. Henry feels suddenly warm, sure that it wasn’t the water heating him to the core.
“I’ve never met a bathmaid who helps by climbing into the bath.”
“Only means you haven’t lived enough, Henry. And I’m no bathmaid.”

Injured in a fight, Henry comes back bloodied and covered in bruises. Hans heals some of them and leaves some others.

In a fandom currently (rightfully) saturated by works that revolve around the recently canonized relationship between one Hans Capon and one Henry of Skalitz - this story goes back to our roots. The loaded glances, the lingering touches, the slow growth from rivals to an unlikely friendship, the unfurling blossoms of said friendship into something maybe a bit more important, and certainly a lot more confusing. This is delivered with love in my heart to anyone that is new here and wants to know where it all began, or anyone nostalgic for 2018 when we felt crazy pointing at the screen and screaming about how there is no heterosexual reason for ANY OF THAT

Summary
Hans was very drunk. They had sat together, side by side by the fire. The young lordling was near dosing; his eyes shuttered at half-mast. His gilded lashes were very long, and cast shadows upon the panes of his high cheeks.
Pretty. He was very pretty. The thought was upon Henry before he could outrun it. The other lad was very drunk, and his eyes were glazed and unseeing. Unchecked, Henry was left to look his fill. And, furthermore, he found himself much too sotted to care, let alone chastise himself for the impropriety.
Hans confided, that he had once fancied himself in love with a bathhouse whore. Her name had been Klara. He had brought her flowers. She had preferred some other fellow though, and now she would not entertain him. He wasn't sad about it, though.
And then, the young nobleman had said the queerest thing. So queer, that Henry had turned his words, over and over in his head since laying down upon his bedroll.

This works is based around the events of KCD1, with the added element of a romance between Henry and Hans.
