    Summary

Katara grew bored of watching Sokka leaning in close and laughing with a stranger. A thought occurred to her, not for the first time, and she spoke it before she could wisely shut her mouth: “Maybe you should date Sokka.”

Toph’s eyebrows disappeared behind her fringe, but now that she’d said it, Katara doubled down.

“You two are always together anyway. And I know—” She turned to Toph and pointed a finger accusingly at her. “—I know, deep down, deeeep down, you love him.”

“Mmm.” She gave Katara a tight-lipped, ingenuous smile. “That’s cute. Sokka would never date me.”

    “You don’t know that!”

Toph did know that, actually. He'd all but said it.

When Sokka gets a new girlfriend, his friendship with Toph falls to the side until it’s all but gone. Only when Toph’s plan for revenge pushes them past the tipping point do they realize what was really keeping them apart all along.

    Summary

He pushes the door open fully—and freezes.

His gaze drops—and what he sees knocks the breath from his chest.

You're curled up in the center of the bed, tangled in a messy cocoon of blankets, pillows, and his clothes.

And your skin—glistening, flushed. Lips parted. Breath coming in soft, shallow pants.

Your eyes find his—and they’re hazy. Bleary. But they soften when you see him.

“Caleb…” you whisper, voice barely a thread. “Don’t go.”

He takes a half-step back like he might. Like he should. Like something in him is warning him to leave before he does something unforgivable. But he can’t move. He can only stare.

    She’s in heat.
And she made her nest out of my clothes.
    My scent.

“Pips,” he breathes. “You should’ve told me. I would’ve—I don’t know, I could’ve left, or—”

“You would’ve left?” your voice cracks, raw and low. “I didn’t want you to go.”

Caleb grips the doorframe like it’s the only thing keeping him upright.

“I just… I don’t know what to do. I’m not—” he laughs, bitter and dry, “—I’m not built for this, okay? I’m just a Beta. I’m not supposed to...”

    Summary

All possible grace leaving her, Esra stepped back and immediately felt the back of her head collide against the windowpane. A tall man in an elegant suit stood to her side, also cupping his hands and looking out the window.

"Wha—what are you doing there? I almost fell." She couldn't help the accusatory tone in her voice, but it felt as useless as getting angry with a crack in a sidewalk.

"Well you seemed to be looking for something. Thought I could help." He turned toward her. "Have you lost something?"

In that moment, Esra realized two things and both were quite alarming. The first was that the man was almost stupidly handsome. The second was that he, too, looked like he had stepped directly out of 1942.

    ---

When journalist Esra gets sent to write a story on a 1940s failed film production at the famed Pera Palace hotel, she is inadvertedly transported through time to Christmas, 1942 and the final days of its production, where she crosses paths with a mysterious actor.
