“Who knows?” Kaveh says, a hint of bitterness entering his tone, and then he covers it up by tugging Al-Haitham into a kiss by the back of his neck, his mouth warm and his fingers curling in Al-Haitham’s hair. It stings a little. Kaveh’s tongue tastes of wine, and they stumble back onto the bed.
“Is this something that friends do?” Al-Haitham asks, a little taunting, even as he dips his mouth into the hollow of Kaveh’s throat.
