So he had a mission for this week. Sure, winning would extend his championship lead, whatever. His aim was the winner's room. He had put this off long enough, it was time now. He's waited enough, mostly due to his own hesitance but whatever.

Then he remembers how it felt to lose it all.
Racing was everything. All his friends, all his love. The lines got blurred when he was still in it. He cared too much. Things went too fast, on the track, off the track. It was too much and not enough and he kept fucking reaching for more without checking if he was able to hold it.

Beautiful is especially high praise coming from someone like Liam Lawson. Lawson is, notably, beautiful. She’s been on lists like Most Attractive Female Athletes since she was old enough to be allowed on them, and she’s no stranger to being offered brand deals or modeling gigs. It’s hard not to see why, when the sun illuminates her face and bathes her in warm light, as she stretches out on the sand. Australia isn’t Lawson’s home, but she says it feels similar enough sometimes that she can find comfort in it.

Not just any stranger, either. Max Verstappen is standing in front of Oscar, holding the door open with one arm casually resting against it, a small, unnervingly knowing smile on his face as he seemingly waits for Oscar to say something.
“Uh,” is all Oscar can manage.
Max Verstappen laughs a bit, and Oscar is almost positive that he’s about to wake up in bed, with his mom knocking on his bedroom door and reminding him that despite the fact that he’s clearly sustained some kind of head injury, he’s not going to get out of doing his share of the chores for the day.
“You are here to clean the pool, you said?”
