Summary
He wants, and yet he doesn't know quite what he wants, not anymore. Only that whatever it is, he can never have it.
He closes his eyes briefly, letting out a soft, exhausted breath. Then, knowing he isn't needed anymore, and keenly aware that he was never wanted in the first place, he turns on his heel and leaves, heading for the Harbor.
Or: Post-game, Maelle restores Lumière and her inhabitants before her departure from the Canvas — Sophie among them. Verso takes it as well as can be expected (that is to say, not well at all).

Summary
Verso doesn't mind being alone.
Even with two sisters, he'd grown up an only child. Boys don't play with girls, after all, and the Dessendre heir doesn't play at all. That's a fact of life, one he's learned early on not to question, lest the back of his father's strong hand find itself a new home against his soft cheek.
He's always been a quick study.
Or: Verso has been lonely for so long, he's forgotten how to be anything else. Gustave sets out to change that.

Summary

A sharp movement in the audience catches his eye, beyond the halo of the stage light.
At first he thinks it’s Maelle, that she’s spotted him doing something that she doesn’t like, doesn’t fit the perfect image of it in her head, but…
It’s not Maelle.
No, it’s Gustave.
Gustave knows something's wrong with Lumiére. With himself. With Maelle. And he knows he'll find answers with the mysterious pianist. And Verso sees.

" Quand Verso parvenait à suffisamment chauffer Gustave, et qu'il exerçait des contacts beaucoup plus exploratoires, Gustave sortait alors de sa coquille et devenait beaucoup plus vocal.
Comme si un barrage avait cédé, il lâchait tout : des "Ah" et des "Oh" à tout va… Quelques voyelles camouflées et retenues… le nom de Verso acclamé comme un mot de joie… Et bien sûr, des jurons dignes de son héritage français : Putain ! Bordel de merde ! Enculé ! Putain de bordel de merde...
Verso se réjouissait du vocabulaire de son amant et se délectait de l'entendre perdre ses moyens, mais il se délectait encore plus de ce qu'il considère être le summum, l'indicateur clair que Gustave a atteint le septième ciel.
Le silence. Le calme.
Lorsque Gustave ne pouvait que geindre doucement comme un chiot en manque d'attention. Son corps las, ses muscles tressautant par occasion, lorsque Verso touchait un point plus que sensible en lui. "
Résumé : Gustave est bruyant au lit. Verso lui propose un défi : rester le plus silencieux dans un temps impartie. Le perdant exauce la volonté du gagnant. Aussi simple que ça.

“Of course, you are more than welcome here, for as long as you’d like.” is Emma’s instant and smooth reply, delivered with an effortless aplomb that is well-suited to her Chief Councilor role; there’s no hiding the sharpness of her eyes, however, that intelligent glint that speaks of veiled suspicion and careful calculations. “Any friend of Maelle is a friend of ours.”
As expected, Maelle is more than ecstatic by Emma’s easy acceptance, but her mood quickly plummets when she spots Gustave’s less-than-thrilled expression: if looks could kill, Verso is pretty sure he would be lying in a pool of his own blood by now, but after some uncomfortable staring the man just scoffs and looks quickly on the side, cheeks flushed by what Verso can only presume is a good dose of barely repressed anger. “...Sure, whatever. If that’s what Maelle wants.”
(After making a promise to each other at the Canvas' edge, Maelle restores Lumiére to its former splendor, and Verso tries to live his life in it as simply and unobtrusively as possible.
Too bad that Gustave absolutely hates Verso's guts, and Verso's blossoming feelings for Gustave are of a complete opposite nature.)
