Between the tales of an American Revolution soldier who rose above his station to fight for freedom in the face of hardship and a deadly mission, two frontierswomen who dared to step up and defend the Alamo no matter the risk, and a black soldier in the Civil War who disguised herself as a man to fight for the Union and ended up finding herself leading the 54th Massachusetts infantry in a mission to prove themselves beyond a ragtag team of soldiers, the common heroic fight for the sake of freedom is what unites these stories more than the blood relation between them.
