He was joking. Denki knew he was joking. Right? Of course he was. That was just his personality. He was like that with everyone. The angry blonde was always saying things he didn’t mean. And he didn’t mean it. Did he? Or was he serious? Did he really think of Kaminari that way? The words might have been true, but it felt so much worse hearing them from the very person Denki wanted to see him differently. But he was joking. Was he? He had to be. Because it was funny. So Denki smiled. Because it was funny. And it didn’t hurt.

Denki Kaminari knows he's a failure. Everyone knows it. Even, unfortunately, a certain explosive hero-in-training whom Denki has more-than-friendly feelings for. But when his own stupidity ends up turning him victim to a harmful quirk, he's forced to either push away his thoughts (and with them the people he needs most), or deal with the reality that his insecurities are the only things keeping him from happiness.

Denki fumbled with the phone at the booth, the constant rain and his frozen fingers making it hard for him to handle it. He shoved his change into the slot, punched the ten numbers in and waited.
The phone rang. And rang.

Denki closed his eyes, resting his head against the booth. He was going to have to find a gaming cafe, a restaurant, something. Somewhere where he could sit down for a few hours and plan his next move. Anywhere that wasn't in the middle of the growing storm.

Everyone who followed hero media (which was essentially everyone in Japan) knew about Kaminari Denki. Whether by name or by brief flashes of electricity both in the famous USJ Attack or the UA Sports Festival, you could recognize him. There wasn’t much to him. Yellow hair, big smile, an electricity quirk, positive attitude, and a good deal of air instead of brain in his head. Your average First Year Hero Student.
Mind you, UA is the top school in the country, both in education and students. They only take the best-of-the-best. Only strongest, smartest, and most valiant kids get in.
So how did such a static-for-brains get in? Surely the school wouldn’t let these kids in just because they can punch a robot…right?

Christmas is coming up, and Denki along with his classmates is absolutely pumped for winter break, most importantly, getting to return home to his family. Winter means parties, sleepovers, and mall runs with his friends who care a little more than he thinks they do. Denki’s excited to return home, but should he be? All while he’s getting closer with a certain angry blonde and purple insomniac?
This is gonna be a story about Denki’s family situation and the new friends he makes along the way - with an appropriate dose of how much his current friend group appreciates him.
