They only ever saw the stars five times.
The first time was in a planetarium. Two college students on a trip, gazing at the stars lining the dark dome.
The second time was in the middle of nowhere. Two partners on a camping trip, one listening as the other told him about the constellations.
The third time was from the porch. Two husbands, watching silently as the stars made their rotations in the sky.
The fourth time was with their children, in the backyard of their new home. Two parents, smiling softly as their kids playfully bantered in the dim light.
The fifth time they got to be alone. Two humans, mortals, looking up at the universe above them for what they knew might be the last time.There was no sixth time that they watched the stars together.
The sixth time, Logan watched alone. -

But, that’s not really how it works at all.
Despite what the world says, love doesn’t just happen at first sight. Sure, it happens, but it’s much more real than that. Sometimes, the strongest bonds you build aren’t destined to fall in love with you. Sometimes, you fall in love with someone who isn’t your soulmate. And sometimes? Sometimes it’s a fight to get your soulmate to back off and realize that love isn’t the only thing that matters in this world.
Love is messy. It should be straightforward, but it’s not. Still, that doesn’t make you or your love any less valid. Whether you’re soulmates or not, who you choose to love is up to you, not what fate says it is.
Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Roman had lived a long life, at some point along that road, he probably should have learned some common sense. Too bad he didn't have enough to not get drunk and summon a demon into his house. Logan probably would have warned him not to, had he not been out of town. Virgil is less than happy about their new housemate; Roman just wants to survive the bedroom eyes Deceit keeps giving him.
