Summary
Regulus’ breath is shaky against her skin, and he holds him close, unwilling to let go. He deliberates for a while, lips pursing and unpursing as he decides on what to say. Finally, he’s able to whisper the words, “I love you.”
Lily’s arms tighten around him, like this wasn’t what he was expecting. Her lips press against Regulus’ temple, kissing the same spot over and over.
“I love you,” she says, and she sounds so entirely sure of herself that Regulus would feel silly for doubting it. He presses himself to her, wanting to cry. Regulus thinks he does a little bit. He thinks she does too.
