Today is June 9th, 2013, and it’s noon, which means it is midnight in Japan, June 10th. Iwaizumi’s birthday. One month and ten days before Oikawa’s. Summer babies in a rain-soaked Japan, the both of them, that’s how their mothers retell the stories. Oikawa’s mother especially loves to recount that particular summer, that particular version of Oikawa, new and small and reaching. Oikawa can’t recall a rainy summer, a rainy birthday, without Iwaizumi. He can’t remember handling the heft of a locker room without that familiar hand on his back keeping him steady, either.

“Come on, Felix,” Sylvain says in that tone Felix hates. It’s the one that came out when they were preparing to find Miklan and his bandits, when Felix had argued with the Professor and Dimitri and Ingrid about it, when Sylvain had said, Come on, Felix. It’s a house mission. Am I or am I not a Blue Lion?, as if that in any way cancelled out being Miklan’s brother. “I know I’m not the right package for everyone, but still. You’ve seen me.”
Before Felix can recover from that one-two punch—not the right package, as if Felix hasn’t been in love with him for years and years; you’ve seen me, a dagger slid between the fourth and fifth ribs, sharp and lethal—Sylvain continues, “And, you know, the Crest. It’s no Major Crest of Fraldarius, but you’ve got a lot going for you.”
Felix is going to kill him.
Sylvain gets a letter, drunk, and a confession, roughly in that order. Ingrid and Dimitri have opinions. Felix suffers throughout.

Tendou Satori has learned to live with the fact that he doesn't have what anyone would consider an attractive face. This wouldn't normally bother him, except now detail-oriented, perfect Ushijima is analyzing his face and producing every overly apparent, crooked flaw in precise graphite strokes.
Ushijima has learned to live with the fact that he doesn't have the ability to read faces, attractive or not. But there's something about Tendou's that he can't put his finger on. He simply cannot get the drawing right.
