This is not a love story.
This is a story about food.
This is a story about the time Diluc Ragnvindr told a reporter that none of the dishes in his own restaurant were as good as the ramen Kaeya Alberich made for him in culinary school. He had no reason to bring it up. It wasn't like they were friends. They were barely even classmates, seeing as Kaeya decided to drop out and leave the valedictorian spot to Diluc.
(This is also maybe, possibly, kind of a love story.)

“When was the last time you had alcohol?”
Diluc remembered. There were two reasons Diluc didn’t drink: one was taste, but not all drinks tasted the same, and finding alcohol that was sweet enough for him was not that hard. Mix the right ingredients and he couldn’t even taste it. That was the reason he told everyone. There was a second reason, one he barely wanted to remember. It wasn’t high on his list of regrets, but it was loud and blatant.

Kaeya's behavior is already pretty odd. When one evening he starts acting even more strangely than usual, Diluc struggles to understand what is wrong, and what the date has to do with it.
