Nearly four hundred years ago, in the wake of a Shadow Fold that saved Shu Han from an invading Ravkan army, a peasant girl led a revolution against a terrible king and founded the line of Taban queens. Foreseeing the terrible effects the Fold would wreak, Shu Han went dark. Borders closed, citizens recalled, diplomatic relations cut off. The rest of the world went on, with no idea of how life in Shu Han changed irrevocably under its queens.
Until Ai Lin Kir-Taban, once Alina Starkov, follows in her ancestors’ footsteps and leads a revolution against a terrible queen. Determined to lead her people out of their isolation, she offers a shocking impossibility to Ravka—she is a Sun Summoner who wishes to destroy the Shadow Fold.
And yet, Ravka has their own Sun Summoner, now wed to Crown Prince Vasily. And a Shadow Summoner with no intention of allowing the Shadow Fold to fall just when he is on the cusp of seizing the Ravkan throne for himself and leading his Grisha into a new age.

Summary
For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.
