Vi hums, heart sinking a little. So maybe Vi misinterpreted that. She sinks back into her seat. “Well, I’m not seeing anyone, if that’s what you’re wondering.”
The expression on Caitlyn’s face turns sour, a crease in her brows as she furrows them. “I was not wondering.”
She says that with such effort that Vi almost doesn’t believe it. Almost. Vi chuckles anyway, finding this girl quite amusing. She’s rather cute when she’s angry.
“Sure, Cupcake.”
This time, Caitlyn fumes, her cheeks flushing with either embarrassment or irritation, Vi doesn’t know.
“Stop calling me that.”
Vi grins. “But it suits you.”
“I am not a cupcake.”
Vi crosses her arms, her grin growing. “Of course you’re not. But you’re sweet like one.”

Summary
Normally, Annie wouldn’t be talking to someone for this long. Normally, she wouldn’t even consider helping someone else. But the way those hopeful, mesmerizing eyes bore into her own, she finds herself too intrigued to refuse. So she nods and stands up, cleaning up her machine and puts everything away. Once she’s done, she follows the other girl to the bench.
“My name is Mikasa, by the way,” the girl speaks once she reaches the bench, staring down intently at Annie that makes her limbs feel weak. Annie feels her breath catch in her throat. Mikasa, huh? What a pretty name for a pretty girl.
“Annie,” she says back, and that widens Mikasa’s smile.

She almost doesn’t hear the actual answer. “And though I have no doubt a thousand people have given this answer before, I did nothing. I was doing my job, and then I was here. No trial. No sentencing. No crime to speak of.”
