Summary

Xue Yang buries a body that Xingchen’s regurgitated, with Song Lan at his shoulder, and there’s barely enough of it left to decay.
The bodies get smaller and smaller these days. Their skulls softer at the top, their teeth, one or two still milky.
Xingchen, chewing his lip in the hothouse. "All you can do is keep the rot apart," he’d said once, running a finger down the vein of a dying orchid bloom. "Before it infects others. Or, it’s a lot kinder than cutting it right out anyway."
