Summary
You rake your fingers through Rose’s hair with practiced ease as she pitches forward over the load-gaper, a strangled grunt preceding the contents of her stomach. How has this come to pass, a question you once truly sought an answer to, floats through your mind idly as you lean further behind her in an attempt – failed – to keep the splattering of Rose’s ejections into the load gaper off your skirt. As she sputters apologies and half-formed words of thanks from your elbow, you force yourself to look at what’s become of the person you loved.

Summary
Dancing had not always come easily to you, but dancing with Kanaya has never been anything short of second nature. Your issue had been your domineering leadership. Most trolls seemed to find it difficult to keep up with your irregular, powerful strides, but Kanaya’s always fallen perfectly in sync with you. This was the woman, you were reminded with every glint of her fangs, who moirailed for your ex-kismesis who was mercurial at best and brutal at worst. Kanaya was the most durable troll you’ve ever met, something you could say with confidence after shooting her point-blank and watching her manage to walk away from that. You were impressed. Again, you didn’t think she had it in her.
But simply because she could withstand anything hurled at her doesn’t mean that she ought to.

Summary
Behind the doors of the nearest broom closet, Alhaitham pins Kaveh against the hard edge of an overfull shelf and shamelessly scents him, rubbing his cheek against the smooth skin of Kaveh’s neck. Kaveh yelps in alarm, his cheeks flushing. He smells faintly sweet, like desert flowers, buried underneath all that ink and paper.
There’s been a small explosion in Ghandarva Ville, it’s some sage’s 50th birthday, Kshahrewar scholars are protesting outside the Akademiya for more money, and Alhaitham doesn’t give a shit. Kaveh is in heat. Alhaitham's responsible for him, and that duty supersedes everything else. The Matra can deal with the explosion, the Grand Sages can’t fire him anyway, and the other scholars can go to hell. Alhaitham has better things to do with his time.
