Still, Wolfwood's been watching him. It's not something many other people would pick up on, and Wolfwood isn't sure how he feels about that, the way he can track the tension in Vash's frame from the way he holds his glass, from the way his boot kicks against Wolfwood's shoe.
It's getting to be a little too much for him, watching Vash unspool in his own head, too wound up to even enjoy being in a town where everyone wants to talk to him and no one wants to shoot at him. He plucks the glass of whiskey that Vash has barely touched out of his hands and tips the liquid down his throat before setting it on the table.
Vash is, predictably, getting ready to make a huge fuss, eyes gone wide and performative. Wolfwood, on instinct, claps a hand over the back of Vash's neck and squeezes.
“We're done for the night, blondie,” he says in his most no-nonsense tone.
Vash melts under his hand, all the fight oozing out of him. “Okay,” he says, and his voice is quiet, even.

Summary
The other man is spread out beneath him like a vision, something sacred and miraculous. Too holy for Wolfwood’s hands, too noble and pure, and yet he’s gazing up at him in wonder and willing to accept whatever offering he has for him. If he wasn’t already on them, the mere sight of Vash would bring him to his knees in worship.
Sharing a bed quickly gets out of hand.

“Well aren’t you pretty,” Wolfwood says, and he isn’t lying, even if Vash does look a little scary at the moment. He is beautiful. Covered in feathers— like white down, even his face. Wolfwood’s never seen Vash sprout them quite like this before, full body. He’s got himself in the corner of the room, all curled up in a defensive posture.
