    “I’m CC-2224,” Cody responded automatically.

General Kenobi’s face scrunched up at Cody’s words and Cody wondered if the man knew that despite him not being able to see them, they could still see him. Normally the natborns were a little less obvious in their distaste.

“That’s not much of a name,” General Kenobi said, instead of anything that Cody had been expecting him to say, “I don’t suppose you’ve got a nickname that you’d allow me to use? It’s a little strange to think of referring to a person as a string of numbers.”

The 212th has never met anyone quite like General Kenobi.

Fresh off of Kamino and already jaded by the natborns that they've encountered, their world turns upside down when they met Obi-Wan Kenobi, a blind man who still seems to see more than anyone else they've ever met. As Obi-Wan shows them how to open up and live in a world that is offended by their mere presence, the 212th learns just how far they would go to save their general and how mutual the feeling is.

    "The… party, sir?"

Cody had that sinking feeling again.

"Oh right!" Skywalker said, and then leapt up onto a crate to address the gathered men. "Alright troopers, consider yourselves on leave for the next 30 hour rotation!" he shouted, to cheers from the men. "Now," at that, he dramatically ripped his tunics open. Rex made a choking noise next to Cody’s ear.

    "LETS FUCKING PARTY!"

They're all going to die, Cody thought.

“And there are some, like me,” Obi-Wan said, voice softening against his will, “who relapse. And relapse. And… and it never quite leaves. I’m afraid I’m rather susceptible to the kind of emotional distress that the flowers thrive in. There is so much love to be had in the galaxy, and I can’t help but… even when it hurts. Perhaps especially when it hurts. I let it get ahold and it’s chronic at this point. Even if I never loved again, I will always have… this.” He spread a hand over his own chest and already, he could feel the stuttering slip of petals and leaves threatening. He kept his breathing slow and shallow, and the threat passed—for now.

OR: a peek into a galaxy where Obi-Wan suffers from chronic Hanahaki, a condition where flowers grow in his lungs, and despite his best efforts, he waters them every day.

    Summary

Anakin knows it’s unwise to keep quiet, knows that Obi-Wan is the very first one he should tell if he suspects something odd is happening to him. But what is he going to say? “Oh, by the way, Master, I noticed when staring into your eyes and forgetting how to breathe that maybe I might be going blind or something. Weird, right?”

In a universe where unrequited love leads to a disease that drains your Force sensitivity, Anakin develops what he believes to be one-sided feelings for Obi-Wan.

(Or, two idiots suffer in silence, until they don’t.)
