Minjeong shifts her weight from one foot to the other. She thinks of her mother’s words, how it isn’t safe for a girl to be wandering a place like this all alone. Thinks of how the girl must have spent hours walking around aimlessly. Thinks of how sore her bare feet probably are from stepping on pebbles. Thinks for a long time before saying, "I can give you a ride. The bike’s seat is a bit small, but it should work."
The girl beams. She has the kind of face that would make the boys at school swoon.
Minjeong isn’t a boy, so she doesn't swoon. She can swear to that.
Summer brings stifling heat, dead insects, and a strange girl.
Minjeong is not alone anymore.

Summary
That it's inyeon that brought her here. It's inyeon that makes her grind her teeth each day to drag her aching body to dance practice, to continue singing even though her throat hurts, to risk missing out on life everyday by chasing an impossible dream. And this thought is only half-baked and formidable, for all the time Jimin appears suddenly by Minjeong’s side, until it’s not. Until it takes form in a thought that will not leave Minjeong, that taints every interaction with Jimin with suspicion, overthinking each miniscule gesture from Jimin to come to a conclusion.
That Jimin is meant for her. As well as she is for Jimin.
Minjeong thinks it's fate what brought them together. Jimin doesn't.
