STEVE’S POV
"And finally" Matt started "Steve Rogers."
I looked at Matt, mentally preparing myself for the injustices I would soon have because the government and Tony don’t understand what I had to do to keep Bucky safe from them. I gave a defiant look to everyone in the room except for my team.
“Steve Rogers, your title as the leader of the Avengers is now revoked and your title of Captain, seeing as you didn’t complete basic training, didn’t have any prior experience and you did fraud to enter the military by falsifying some of your documents,” Matt stated.
I could feel my blood starting to boil but decided to stay calm “But I lead the Howling Commandos and Dr. Erkshine admitted me into the military” I stated firmly.
“We all know our history classes,” Carol started to speak and I had to control the urge to roll my eyes “ but seeing that you didn’t complete basic training it was decided to put you first to basic training again and have classes on strategies and other stuff… When you finish that you can be again the leader of the Avengers meanwhile you are co-leader of the Second team” she explained.
“Is that okay with you Mr. Rogers?” Matt asked.
I huffed.
“Your Captain title… it was only propaganda” Carol said with a straight face “But the government is giving you an option and is going easy on you, so, here it is, you were lowered to 1st Lieutenant.”
I could feel my eye starting to twitch and a vein starting to pop “... What-What are the requirements to be captain?”
Matt looked at Carol and nodded to her “The requirements to be Captain is to be at least two years as 1st lieutenant so you get to be 1st lieutenant for two years if you behave,” she explained
I looked at Carol “Are you a Captain, Ms. Danvers?”
She shook her head and I could feel a smile of satisfaction forming in my face but what surprised me is that she was smiling “I’m actually a Major”
-That’s unfair- I thought but Matt quickly pulled me out of my thoughts when he started to list some of the crimes I did.
“You are charged with the destruction of the bridge in Bucharest killing 5 and injuring 10” Matt started “Your part of the airport will be up to the sum of 3 billion dollars”
I interrupted him “Why is it more than Sam’s”
“Maybe because you damaged a beam that supported a platform that could have killed me if I didn’t have the strength to hold it up” I turned to the brown-haired kid who was sitting beside Tony.
My eyes widened in surprise “You are Spider-man” I mouthed in surprise.
He nodded in agreement “Yes, and you almost killed me” he said with venom in his voice.
“Look I didn’t know I was fighting with a 14 year old... if I knew I wouldn’t have done it”
He raised an eyebrow “So if I was older, you still have done it? What if I didn’t have the strength to hold it up? I would have been crushed”
“When we were fighting I measured your strength that’s why I knew that you could hold that up” I tried to explain to him
“That doesn’t give you the right to do that! What if you measured my strength wrong? Imagine what could have happened, you don’t think about consequences, do you?” He gave a sigh, trying to calm himself down “Be lucky that I didn’t raise charges towards you” He turned to Matt “Can you please continue Mr. Murdock?” Matt nodded
“And finally the allegations of your almost assassination of Tony Stark”
I could feel the temperature of the room drop.
