Chapter Text

Prolog start

Aaron was walking home through a park when he bumped into someone. He helped him up from the ground and when Aaron got a good look at him he had to say that he was beautiful. Aaron spoke a bit with him just some small talk and found it adorable how Spencer had his name face lit up when he went on a rant about ants. Aaron had not felt entranced by another person since his ex-wife had died. They exchanged numbers and Aaron came home to Jack with a big smile on his face. 

They went on their first date having a really good dinner. Spencer was his nervous self and Aaron loved to watch as he spoke with his hands, getting excited by the smallest things. He was blown over by the intelligence this man had. Spencer sometimes helped the police as a consultant, sometimes even the FBI, he was a professor at the university and he also guests lectured a lot. That night ended with Aaron driving Spener home giving him a goodnight kiss before he left. 

The next date they had was sadly interrupted by a case. Aaron had expected Spencer to behave like Haley did every time he had a case but all Spencer did was smile and wish him good luck with a kiss. By that time Aaron realized that he should never compare Spencer to anyone else; he was one of a kind. 

When Spencer had called him sounding afraid on the phone Aaron had driven to him and that's when he found out that Spencer was gender fluid. But he saw no difference about this wonderful person he was starting to love. 

The date after that it was Penny that showed up, instead of Spencer’s sweater vest and more formal clothing, she wore a beautiful dress that was blue with white dots. Still into the older style of clothing. That date Aaron told Penny that it would never matter what they showed up in. 

After a couple more dates Aaron asked them to meet Jack. They had decided that they would meet at the zoo. Spencer showed up nervous for no reason, for when Jack realized that Spencer could answer all his questions he never wanted to stop talking to him. 

The first time Jack meets him as Penny they are in a park having a picnic. Penny wearing a red flower dress. 

By this time David is suspecting that Aaron is seeing someone. He even told the whole team of his suspicions so every time Hotch is on the phone he could feel the rest of them trying to profile him. Aaron does not tell them because Haley lost her life because of this job. He will always feel guilty even though knowing that he did the right things. He just wanted to separate his love life from his work life.   

The first time Aaron realizes that he is in love with Spencer is when he had gotten up early to take a run, Spencer left in the bed not wanting to get up. When he got back he heard Spencer talking in the bedroom. Aaron carefully looked into the room and saw that Spencer had Jack cuddled upon his chest while Spencer was reading him The Hobbit, and now and then Jack asked about a word's meaning and Spencer explained it. Aaron felt his heart go on overdrive, he was in love there was no denying it. 

Prolog end 

Aaron woke up, it was Saturday and he was going to make the best of it. He had Penny in his arms and Jack in his room sleeping. Aaron was looking forward to this weekend and even if it was interrupted, then he was going to make the best out of the time he had. He kissed Penny’s shoulder before burrowing his head in Penny’s neck. This easy connection they had, the fact that he woke up with the person he loved in his arms everything was perfect in his eyes. He felt Penny wake up whispering a good morning into her skin getting a small reply back. 

Aaron heard Jack opening the door but he did not tell them to get up as he thought. Jack instead climbed up on the bed and went into Penny’s embrace. Aaron had now his favorite people in his hands, and the world seemed brighter. 

After a while, they got up after Aaron reminded Jack that he had football practice. They ate breakfast and got ready. Penny was going to look over her students' essays that she had just gotten in. Aaron kissed her on her lips, told her his goodbye and Jack gave her a big hug. Before Aaron closed the door he looked back at Penny sitting on the sofa with her messy hair and glasses on, with a big cup of coffee in her hands and he just felt lucky. 

Jack and Aaron drove to the practice where they met with David. Aaron could feel Dave's curious eyes on him the whole time. He also did not have to be a profiler to notice that Dave was trying to get Jack alone to question him. Aaron knew that he would tell the team sooner or later. 

Dave managed to get Jack alone when Hotch needed to go to the bathroom. Dave had thought about the best tactic to get Jack to talk. 

“So your daddy is smiling a lot more than before.” Dave would have pat himself on his back, that was the best start of all time. At hearing Jack confirm that Hotch was happier he asked the question he was curious about. 

“Do you know the reason for that? Might it be a pretty lady?” 

“Well Penny is pretty, Penny makes Daddy smile.”

“Penny?” Now, this was something he could snoop in. 

“Yeah, Penny is at home grading some papers. she is a doctor in math” Jack said it with so much wonderment that Dave had to laugh. It was obvious that Jack liked this Penny a lot. But before he could say anything more Aaron came back looking at Dave suspiciously. Dave knew that Aaron was afraid and he would have been too if he ever lost someone that he loved the same way that he did. But Dave did not think it was healthy for Aaron to separate himself from the people that care about him. 

They all went into a cafe and they ordered lunch, and it did not go unnoticed by Dave that Aaron ordered a small tart to go, probably for the lady he was hiding. They ate and said their goodbyes. Aaron and Jack went back home to Penny where they spent the evening building a fort. 

The weekend went over way too fast if you were to ask Aaron, it felt like he had just come home from work, and then it was Monday and he was back in the office. Aaron knew that Dave had gotten some information from Jack when he went to get a cup of coffee and he felt eyes watching him and the team trying to be discreet. They were profilers so you would assume that they knew how to be sneaky but apparently not. Aaron hated to admit it but he was saved by a case. He called everyone to the conference room and they had their briefing.  

He said that they would be wheels up in 30 and then he left the room to contact Jessica and Spencer that he would be away. When he spoke to Jessica Aaron found out that she was having a work emergency and would not be able to take Jack so he would have to call a nanny until she would be able to take him. He told Jessica that he would call her back with a solution. Aaron had an idea but he was not sure that Spencer would be up to it. Spencer and Jack loved each other; they worked well together and Aaron trusted Spencer over any nanny in the world. Aaron called Spencer explaining the situation to them and before he even had to ask Spencer offered to take Jack. Aaron felt a surge of love for Spencer. He knew how many people did not like their significant other's children but Spencer never had any trouble loving Jack. 

Aaron called Jessica saying that the person he has been dating would take care of Jack until he came back. She seemed a little hesitant but she also knew that in the end, she did not really have any say in it. Jessica had heard a lot about Spencer from both him and Jack. Aaron knew that even though Jessica did not say anything that she was feeling a bit of separation anxiety. He would never cut Jessica out of their life but now with Spencer when Aaron went away she would not be taking care of Jack. Therefore she would be seeing less of Jack and she did understand why and knew this would happen sooner or later,  but that did not mean she had to like it. 

With everything fixed Aaron got ready and went to the plane. He left knowing that Jack would be in the best hands possible. 

Chapter Text

Spencer POV

Spencer got the phone call in the middle of his lunch break. Jack was not feeling well and they were wondering if he could take him. Spencer told them that he would pick up Jack as soon as he could and then he left. He got to the school and went to the nurse's office where he found Jack sitting. Spencer only gave the nurse a quick hello before he went over to Jack and went onto his knees so that he could see him probably. Jack when he saw him threw his arms around Spencer’s neck and he pulled him close into an embrace. Spencer picked Jack up and then went over to the nurse so that they could speak. Jack had a fever and was generally not feeling well. 

“Hey, Jack we just need to go by my work so that I can tell the students what they are supposed to do and then we can go home. Is that okay?” After receiving a nod from Jack  Spencer reporting Jack as sick and they went to get his things before leaving the building. He buckled Jack into the car and then he drove them to the university. 

He carried Jack into the building receiving some weird looks from other professors and students. Ignoring them he continued and went into his classroom, carefully putting Jack down on his desk. His students were coming in four minutes so he started to write up the instructions to what they were going to do.  As he wrote on the whiteboard behind him his students started to fill in. When it was starting time Spencer turned to his students seeing all of them eyeing Jack with curiosity, Jack did not seem to notice and was too busy with his painting.  

“You have the instructions on the board about what you are doing today. You may contact me by email if you have any questions. But Jack and I are going to go home.” At hearing his name Jack looked up at Spencer and smiled at him. “Does anyone have any questions?” When they did not have any questions Spencer said his goodbye and Jack waived at them. Spencer then proceeded to lift Jack into his arms again and walk out of the building. 

He got Jack into the car and they drove home. When they get inside the door Spencer placed Jack on the sofa with the TV and blankets as he starts to make something to eat. Jack had been too nauseous to be able to eat before but now when his medicine had kicked in Spencer was hoping that he would be able to eat something. He prepared some tomato soup before joining Jack on the sofa trying to get him to eat. 

Jack was incredibly good and tried his best to eat up the bowl of soup he had gotten. After eating he laid down with his head in Spencer’s lap. 

“Do you think I could talk to daddy?” Jack spoke in such a small voice that was not at all like him and it hurt Spencer in his heart that he was feeling unwell.  

“You know what I will text him to call me when he can so that you could speak to him.” Jack seemed content with the answer he got and moved around a bit to get more comfortable. Spencer ruffled Jack’s hair and kissed him. Telling himself to remember that Jack would get some ice cream after dinner. 

Aaron POV

They were working on the case and Aaron was aware that every time the team had just a little bit of free time they spent it trying to analyze him. He had been getting regular texts from Spencer with updates on how Jack was doing and he was very happy that he managed to get Jack to eat. 

Aaron had just finished an interview when he got a text from Spencer saying that Jack just wanted to hear his voice. Aaron looked around and right now they were waiting for the interview that Morgan was having to be done. So he went outside and called Spencer, the second he heard Spencer’s voice he felt calmer. Spencer was not good at hiding when he was panicking so him being so relaxed meant that Jack was okay.  

“Hey, Jack I have daddy on the phone.” Aaron heard Spencer say and then he heard a bit of shuffling of the phone being passed over.

“Hi, daddy.” Good he hated it when Jack was sick he was usually so full of energy and happy but now he sounded so tired. 

“Hello, Jack how are you feeling.” Aaron listened carefully as Jack described his symptoms and it sounded like he had gotten a bad cold. But as he spoke Aaron could predictably hear Jack falling asleep. He said goodbye to his son before Spencer went onto the line again. They said their goodbyes and Aaron was happy that he chose Spencer to watch Jack. The nanny that he sometimes used when Jessica could not take Jack was great. But Spencer loved Jack and that was the best thing for him to have at the moment. Aaron went back into the room where the team was ignoring the looks that he got. 

“Hey, Hotch is everything alright?” Dave asked, he knew that they would pick up on the fact that he did not take personal calls during cases except for good night ones with Jack. 

“Yeah, it is fine. Jack has gotten a could and he just wanted to hear my voice.” After that, he received understanding looks from the whole team. 

“Jessica is with him right,” JJ spoke while looking concerned. It was not a surprise that she was so worried. Since the last time she had been away on a case when Henry was sick, he got a seizure. 

“No Jessica could not take him but he is with someone that loves him and that is as good as it can get. Now back to the case, Morgan, what did they say.” Aaron directed them all back to work but he knew that they all noticed the fact that Jack’s grandparents were on the other side of the country and if Jessica was out of the picture then it must be his partner that was with Jack at this moment. 

Chapter Text

Garcia POV

Was she curious about who this person that Hotch is dating, the answer was yes. But it was not the reason for her actions. She had just been worried about the mini Hotch, and curious but that was not the point. When the team went to bed she went to her favorite store and bought Jack a new toy, and she made a goodie bag. 

She got out of her car making sure not to hurt the package she was carrying. She then walked up to Hotch's front door and rang the bell. She saw a shadow move behind the drapes of the window. Then the door opened and in front of her did not the woman she was expecting it was a long-haired man with a vest on, looking like a professor's assistant. He looked boy cute but that was not what she expected, where was Penny?

“Um, hello can I help you?” Garcia was dragged out of her thoughts when the man spoke.

“I, I heard that Jack was sick so I made him a get goodie bag.”  She sacked the bag a bit so that he would understand what she was talking about. 

“Oh, and who are you?” 

“I am Penelope Garcia the one and only, You?” 

“Dr. Spencer Reid…” Before Spencer could say anything else there was a sound from inside the house. “You can come in. I just have to go and check on Jack.”  Spencer walked away and Garcia let herself in going into the kitchen where she put the bag down. She looked around a bit, but who can blame her she is never allowed into the Hotchner home. She heard hushed voices from what she would guess to be Jack’s bedroom. 

After some time a door opened and out came Spencer caring Jack. Garcia felt her heart ace, Jack looked so tired and rumpled in his pajamas in the middle of the evening. Spencer carried Jack and put him on top of the kitchen top. He then proceeded to brush Jack’s hair from his forehead and put his lips to his head to feel if he was warm. 

“You woke up just the right time Jack, this is the perfect time for you to take some more medicine,” Spencer spoke in a calm voice and it was obvious to her that he cared about Jack. Garcia watched as Spencer took out a bottle of medicine measuring out the right amount before giving it to Jack, Jack took his medicine making a face at the taste. 

“Hey, Jack you have a visitor.” Jack looked over at her and that poor baby. He looked so tired, but he gave her a wave and said a small “Hello”. 

“Hey, Jack I just wanted to give you a get-well basket.”  Garcia gave him the bag and smiled at Jack. Jack looked through what she had gotten him and took up the plushy hugging it to his chest saying “Thank you”.  The smile that Jack gave her was worth all that time spent at that store trying to figure out what he would like the most. 

At Jack’s request, Spencer carried him to the sofa so that he would be able to look at some cartoons. Garcia sat down next to him and when Spencer left for a moment she saw her chance to ask Jack some questions. 

“Hey Jack, I thought Penny would be with you.” 

“They are” Jack spoke in his yawn. Garci did not understand what he was talking about, maybe Penny is a nickname that Spencer has. But Jack used feminine pronouns when he spoke to Rossi, but he was now speaking in they, them pronouns. That was when it hit her, Penny and Spencer were the same person, they were a beautiful genderfluid person. She wondered how Hotch had met Spencer. Not that she believes that Hotch is a prejudiced person but Spencer was so young, she knew that he probably looked younger than he was but he could not be more than twenty. Spencer came back and sat down beside Jack, Jack went directly into his lap cuddling into his chest. Spencer kissed Jack on his head. 

“So, Jack said that you were a doctor in math.” Garci had to make sure that it was true, she usually would not question anyone but Jack might have said wrong and Spencer was working on his degree in math. 

“Yeah, I have doctorates in Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physiology. I also have two BA’s.” Garcia just stared at him. 

“How old are you?” She knew that her shock was evident in her voice. 

“Oh, I am twenty-six,” Spencer answered with a smile.  

“How is that possible?” 

“Because Spencer is a genius!” Jack added to the conversation. You could hear the wonderment in his voice. 

“Now remember Jack IQ is not a way to tell if someone is a genius, everyone is a genius in their own way.” Spencer ruffled Jack’s hair. 

“Do I even dare to ask what your IQ is?” 

“I have an IQ of 187, I can read 20. 000 words per minute and I have an eidetic memory.” All Garcia responded with was “Damn”. Hotch really found someone unique to the universe. Not that she believed that anyone in the team was unintelligent but Spencer was on another level. She wondered what they had in common. As rude as it sounded but it was true, Hotch was strict and he was very alpha masculinity. But Spencer, he had long hair, spoke softly, was smart, and did not seem to do so well in social situations, if anything he was an omega. 

But it was obvious that Spencer loved and cared about Jack and at the end of the day, it made her heart melt at the sight of them together. Jack had lost his mother in the worst way possible. He deserved all the love in the world as all children. Spencer seemed patient and he really seemed to care and love Jack. Sadly with the job came knowing horrible statistics and she knew that it was rare for someone especially younger to take care and love a partner's child. 

“Oh well, it was really nice to meet you Spencer, and I really hope you get better Jack. But I have to go so that I can get some sleep before the team calls me again needing me.” Spencer and Jack said their goodbyes and Garcia got ready and left. She knew that she could not call the team because they needed their sleep but she wanted everyone to know that she had met Aaron Hotchner’s partner and that they were nothing that you could expect. She went home and she decided to call Kevin and bother him. She sat down on her sofa with a glass of wine and got ready to tell him about the person she had met today. 

Spencer POV

After Garcia left Spencer stayed with Jack in his lap for some time. But when Jack started to jawn Spencer knew that it was time to get him into bed. He let Jack choose a story that he would read for him, and because Jack asked to sleep with him in Aaron’s bed he also got ready for the night. Jack laid in the middle and Spencer took his side of the bed. Jack cuddled up to his side with his new plushy and Spencer started to read to him. Before Spencer had gotten done with the first chapter Jack was asleep. Spencer put the book down and held Jack close, before closing his eyes and falling asleep. 

Chapter Text

Penny POV

Penny woke up the next morning having slept well. Jack was still asleep on the side of her, she kissed his head and was pleased to find that he did not feel warm. She did want Jack to stay at home today because even though his fever seemed to have gone down he would be really tired. She went up carefully making sure to be as quiet as possible. She grabbed a robe before closing the door to the room leaving Jack to sleep. She went down to the kitchen and started her coffee for the day. While Penny waited she put her hair up with a wooden hair stick that Aaron had gotten to her as an anniversary present. It was handmade and was beautiful with engraved flowers and birds. With her hair up and getting her coffee, she started to make breakfast. She decided that Jack would get some creeps, as they were easy on the throat and delicious. She made them and washed berries that would go on top. After a while, she heard Jack opening the door and he came down to the kitchen. 

“Hey, are you feeling better?” Jack gave her a nod as he was yawning as he rubbed his eyes with his hand. They sat down to eat and Jack still had a bit of a sore throat but nothing too bad. After breakfast, Penny asked Jack what he wanted to do today and was surprised when Jack said that they could go to the university so that she could teach her class, and that he could entertain himself. 

“You care about your students, and I do not want to take you from them to days in a row.” 

“You know that you do not have to, I will gladly stay at home and watch TV with you.” 

“I know” And that settles it Jack was going to be with her during her lectures. Penny was happy that Jack valued school so much that he did not want to take away a good professor from their students. Penny swore that Jack was the sweetest child on this earth. They got ready and went into her car. 

They entered the university and Penny still had her hair up with her hairpin but her curly front strands were out and framed her face nicely. She was dressed in a pen skirt and had a nice blouse on with a sweater on top. She looked nice and professional, except for her red converse on her feet and the fact that you could see that her sock were different colors. Jack was wearing some jeans and a shirt from a museum, it had a picture of the t-rex skeleton on it. They walked into her room and Penny started to prepare the bord. She could hear the students dropping in but her focus was still kept at the bord. When everything was up she turned to the class and smiled at them. They would be starting in about 5 minutes, so she went over to Jack and looked at what he was painting at her desk. 

“Excuse me, professor, may I ask why there is a child here?” 

“Oh well might as well introduce you. This is Jack and he is not feeling well so he was staying at home, but he did not think it was fair if he was the reason you did not get a professor two days in a row. So he is going to be at my desk this day.” Jack looked up from his painting and gave the students a smile and wave saying “Hi”. The students returned the greeting. 

“Now let's start. So does anyone have questions about what you did yesterday as you have to understand that to be able to understand what we are going to do.”  

Time skip

After the day was done Penny took Jack to a cafe that made delicious gelato. He really deserved it today; he had been so sweet and nice. They were in the middle of eating when her phone started to ring. She answered it and it was Hotch wanting to notify her that the case was over and they were on the plane now. They would be landing in two hours, she then gave the phone to Jack so that he could speak to his daddy. They then said their goodbyes and that was it though Penny but after a minute her phone started to ring again. 

It was Garcia that had now known her name and been able to find her phone number. She said that the case had been a tough one and wondered if she and Jack could go to the FBI and surprise the team. She had agreed after speaking to Jack. 

That was why one and a half hours later she and Jack were in the FBI building getting onto the floor of the BAU. Garcia, who must have been notified as they entered, stood waiting for them. She gave Jack a hug saying that she was so happy that he was feeling better today, Jack thanked her for his gift again. They went into the conference room where Penny put down the cupcakes that she had bought at her favorite bakery. They then sat and waited and Garcia tried to ask her a lot of questions but Penny told her to wait with the questions so that she did not have to answer all of them twice. After a while, Gracia’s tablet made a sound and she stood up saying that the team had entered the building. Penny and Jack stayed in the conference room. 

Aaron POV

They had just gotten into the building and Garcia greeted them as they walked out of the elevator. She was persistent that they all should go into the conference room. Aaron tried to argue with her because he just wanted to get started on the paperwork that he had so that he would be able to go home and be with Penny and Jack. But when Garcia had put her mind on something it was nearly impossible to get her to change her mind. They walked into the conference room but before he got in Jack ran out of the room saying “Daddy!” with his hands up ready for a hug. 

The case had been extra bad because it had been an unsub that targeted children. It hit everyone hard and the feeling of having Jack in his arms feeling his arms wrapped around his neck. That was what he had been craving this whole time when he was away. He kissed Jack on his head and looked up to see the doorway of the conference room and saw Penny standing there with a smile on her face. She looked so beautiful, she must have come right from work as she was wearing professional clothing. She had some shimmer on her eyes and some lip gloss that made her lips look so kissable. Aaron went over with Jack and gave her a small kiss. She smiled at him and said a small “hi”. 

“Right, I believe it is time to introduce you, this is my partner that you all have been so curious about, Dr. Penny Reid.” Penny gave them all her signature waves as she did not like to shake hands. The rest of the team looked at her in shock. Penny was younger than him but she also had a baby face which made her look even younger. At the beginning of their relationship Aaron had questioned himself, why would she be with him when she could have someone younger, stronger with less baggage. But she made him realize that she loved him, every part of him, with baggage, a son and all. She was his home now, and he loved every part of that wonderful human in front of him. 

“Oh, Garcia said that you had a tough case so I brought some cupcakes with me.” Penny of course had brought his favorite cupcakes. They were chocolate cupcakes with raspberry in the chocolate frosting which had cream cheese in it so that it had a bit of tang with a lot of chocolate and some raspberry in it. It also in the middle of the cupcake was more raspberry, this combo of chocolate and raspberry was absolute heaven. The team followed them in and Penny opened the box of cupcakes, sounds of content filled the room as everyone ate their sugary treat. They all went and fixed a cup of coffee before going back into the conference room. Aaron made Penny’s cup so she stayed with Jack. 

“Hey Hotch, do you want some coffee with that sugar?” Morgan asked, his voice laced with humor. 

“This is not for me, Penny is a coffee and sugar addict.” The team let out a laugh at that and it was good to see that they were no longer suspicious of Penny but more curious.  

“So, may we ask how you met?” Emily leaned back onto the shelves behind her as her coffee was now done and she was waiting for the rest of them to get ready. 

“You can ask your questions when we go up.” They all accepted that and fixed their coffee. They walked up to the conference room and Aaron gave Penny her coffee which she took a large sip of thanking him for the cup. Aaron sat down beside her and Jack was playing with a toy on her other side. 

“Okay, this is how we are going to do it, everyone gets one question each. You can ask more questions another time as we have to start our case files and Jack is starting to get tired.” The team did not look so happy at the fact that they only got one question each but seemed to understand why. But it started an argument on who would get to go first, they decided as Garcia had the most knowledge already she would go last and Emily would be first than JJ, Dave, Morgan, and last Garcia. 

“So, how did you meet?”  Aaron was happy about the fact that she did not ask an inappropriate question. He loved and cared about the team but they did have a nasty mind. 

“Aaron actually bumped into me in the park. I mean that literally, I feel down.”

“I say that you bumped into me.” 

“Aaron we are not doing that again.” Aaron almost had to laugh at the faces the team was making at their bickering and teasing. There was no real heat in their words; it was just teasing and it seemed like the team had thought him incapable of it. He wondered if he should feel offended by that. 

“Okay, Penny what do you do?” JJ was the first one to get out of her shock and continued the question time. 

“I am a math professor at the university.” At the odd looks that she was receiving she elaborated her answer. “ I have doctorates in Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering, and Physiology. I also have two BA’s. I am working on getting a Ph.D. in English literature.”  Aaron had to smile at the faces the team was making. Penny’s accomplishment was one of the only things that she took pride in, never her high IQ or her eidetic memory. Because she did not work for those traits but she worked hard on her doctorates and she was proud rightfully so. 

“Okay so now me, how old are you? Also how high is your IQ?” Dave was looking at Penny trying to figure her out and it was hilarious. 

“I am twenty-six years old and I have an IQ of 187, I can read 20.000 words per minute and I have an eidetic memory.” The room went silent when Penny was done speaking. 

“How long have you been dating?” Aaron could see that there was something up about Morgan, he would have to speak to him later. 

“Oh, soon a year.” Aaron wondered why she did not give her usual answer that was down to the minute. 

“Penny, that was not really specific.” So Aaron was not the only one that noticed it Jack had to. 

“Well you see Jack I am trying to be more conversational.” She was trying to make a good impression on his team and that warmed Aaron's heart. But he never wanted Penny to hide who she is and how she feels. 

“What do you do in your free time?” Asked Garcia, she was the one that had the most background as Aaron knew that she had done research on Penny and therefore asked more personal questions that would not show up in a file. 

“I read a lot, I also write. I am a published author in both fiction but also nonfiction. I also love learning new things:” After that the question time was over and the team went back to their work and Penny kissed him before leaving with a really tired Jack in her arms. 

Morgan POV

He did not know how to feel about Hotch's new girlfriend. She looked like she was twenty but she was twenty-six. But that was still a really large age gap. She looked so young that Morgan felt uncomfortable thinking about what happened in Hotch's bed. Morgan did have to admit that she was mature and that mentally she seemed so much older. He walked up to Hotch's office with those thoughts in his head. He was not going to mention it; he was just going to leave the files at his desk and leave. 

“Morgan, will you close the door.” Shit was the only thought going through his head, Hotch had noticed. “You seemed uncomfortable around Penny, what was that about? Was it about some information Garcia gave you before you met her?” Hotch's eyes were hard as steel and it took him some time to understand what he was talking about. When it hit him, Garcia had told him that Penny was born as Spencer Reid and that she believed that Penny was gender fluid. 

“Hotch, this is not at all about her being gender fluid.” It did not seem to calm Hotch down but he did lean a bit back into his chair. 

“You know my experience as young.” After Hotch nodded did he continue. “It is just that Penny looks so young and has such youthful energy. From that, I created some bias. I know you Hotch, you would not abuse her but, it is hard for my brain to understand.” At that Hotch seemed to calm down. It was nice to see that he was so protective about Penny that he had been willing to confront him. 

“Are we good?” 

“Yes,” They shook their hands and they both felt like they had come to a mutual understanding. Both of them had come from a place of wanting to make sure that Penny was safe. 

Aaron POV

After speaking to Morgan Aaron decided to go home a bit early and leave the case files that were not done yet. He packed his bag and went into his car. He was really happy about how well the team took to Penny and how well this time alone with Jack had gone. He was starting to get ready to propose to Penny so that they would be able to live together. Jack would have two parents aging which were something that Aaron had thought was impossible at some point in his life. 

He got to the house and went inside, it was perfectly still and calm. He made sure to put the alarm on and Aaron carefully took his shoes and Jacked off. He walked past the living room and found it empty, the kitchen too. Aaron walked over to Jack’s room and was surprised that it was empty; he had been so tired when he left the building.  There was only one place left to look at which was his bedroom. There was Jack and Penny, Penny had her arms wrapped around Jack in her sleep as to make sure that he doesn't go anywhere. Both of them were sleeping restfully and looked so at peace. Aaron knew that he was going to buy a ring that weekend but now he got into bed behind Penny wrapped his arms around her and Jack, feeling Penny move a bit to get comfortable and he fell asleep.
