Law didn’t have much concept of time passing over the next few days. Vivi was making sure he was properly fed and hydrated between his rounds with Luffy, and he was just kind of sleeping whenever he was too exhausted to continue. Though, he hadn’t passed out again since the first time. Luffy also slept whenever Law did, but he was pretty sure the Alpha could have kept going endlessly. He hadn’t seen him really look tired at any point during Law’s heat, no matter how many rounds they went. He wondered where his boundless energy came from.
So, when the feeling of his heat finally started to wind down, Law was almost surprised. He hadn’t realized it had been 4 days already. Heats were always kind of like that, though, making it hard to tell how much time had gone by, but for the first time in his life, Law was almost sad his heat was ending.
Realistically, Law was happy to have the constant feeling of intense longing gone, though it hadn’t been nearly as bad since he’d had someone to spend his heat with. First and foremost, he desperately wanted to go home and properly shower and relax.
Even with his heat over, he still hadn’t been able to fully silence his Omega half’s insistence that that was his Alpha, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy his time with Luffy. In the quiet moments of the past four days, Luffy had been very kind to him, touching him gently and talking sweetly to him, showering him with compliments.
Law wasn’t used to being treated that way, even as an Omega. Most people were freaked out by his morbid scent, and kept their distance from him. The only reason he even had the friends he did was because he had met them in med school, and in a hospital the smell of blood was nothing unusual. Although, his friends could hardly be described as normal people either.
Law’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. Vivi poked her head in, and smiled at him. “How’re you feeling?”
“Better. Tired. I think I’m ready to leave… soon.” His voice trailed off at the end of the sentence, and he glanced at the tv. It was off currently, and Law knew Luffy was gone right now, having just left to go get food.
Law felt Vivi’s eyes on him, and knew he was being an open book right now, but he couldn’t help it. He’d been able to brush off his feelings during his heat as his hormones getting the best of him, but now that his heat was ending and he was back in his right mind…
No one had ever treated Law like Luffy had.
He felt ridiculous to be so attached to the Alpha already, but there was no use denying the obvious.
“Helloooo! Earth to Law?” Vivi called to him, laughing, and Law turned to her, realizing she was waving a piece of paper at him. “I thought you might want this, but if you’re too distracted…”
“Huh? What is it?” Law asked, trying to ignore that Vivi was teasing him.
“It’s the list of Alphas from your visit, or in your case, it’s just Luffy’s profile.” She held the sheet out to him properly. “Since you’re leaving soon, I’m supposed to ask if you want the contact info for him, and if you’d like to keep the footage from your visit.”
It had somehow totally escaped Law’s mind that he was allowed to request the Alpha’s info, and if Luffy agreed, they would be given each other’s contact info. If Luffy agreed… Law worried for a moment before Vivi spoke again. “Luffy already asked for your info, so I’ll be able to give you his number if you want it, if that’s what you were wondering.”
Law wondered if he was always this easy to read, or if this Beta was just particularly perceptive. “Uh, yes, I’d like his information please.” He thought for a moment, remembering Vivi’s other question. “And I would… like the footage… please,” he said quietly, and he knew he was blushing.
Vivi chuckled at him kindly and set the paper in her hand on the edge of the nest next to Law. “His number’s already on there since we figured you’d want it. But to be honest, knowing Luffy, he’s probably waiting outside for you. That’s just how he is.” Law’s eyes widened. He thought he would have some time to compose himself before officially meeting the Alpha properly face to face, but at the same time he almost wasn’t surprised that Luffy would want to see him right away. He didn’t really seem the patient type.
“Welp! Whenever you feel comfortable to leave, you’re free to. Your clothes are over there, and Robin will be at the front desk if you have any questions,” Vivi said as she started walking toward the door. “Call me if you need anything! And please don’t forget to leave us a review online!” She smiled at him one more time before she closed the door behind her.
Once she left, Law looked at the paper she’d left with Luffy’s profile. He was only 21—the minimum age to be a visitor at Robin’s Nest—and his employment was listed as “Freelance.” There wasn’t much more notable on the profile. It honestly looked like Luffy had only filled out the required questions and none of the optional ones. He guessed he was just going to have to get to know him the normal way.
Law got dressed, only a little shaky on his legs and moderately sore. Hopefully he would be back to normal before he had to go back to work. He grabbed his bag he’d brought with him, pulled out his phone and turned it on. He’d warned his friends that he was gonna be off the grid until he left, but there were still a few texts waiting for him from them when his phone powered on.
“Good luck! Stay safe!”
“Have fun, Captain! ;)”
“Text us when you’re home and we’ll get food and you can tell us all about your escapades!”
Law would not be telling any of them about the details of the past four days, but he sent a quick text out to let them all know he was alive and would be going home soon. He also made a point of saving Luffy’s number from the profile sheet onto his phone.
He slid his phone into his pocket, slung his bag over his shoulder and left the room. The walk to the front desk was short, the facility wasn’t very big, and he heard voices talking through the door to the entrance. He paused before opening the door when he realized who was speaking.
“Do you think he’ll be out soon? I’m soooo hungry.” Law recognized Luffy’s voice right away.
“I’m shocked you’re waiting for him Luffy, it’s not like you to wait to get food.” Robin answered, a slight titter to her voice.
“I just thought he’d be hungry after his heat. You think he’ll wanna come with me? I hope so.” That was the first time Law had heard Luffy sound uncertain about anything.
Law finally stepped through the door, deciding he had eavesdropped enough. Luffy turned at the sound of the door and Law found himself being tackled in a hug. He stumbled under the sudden weight, but just managed to stay upright. “Luffy-ya?!”
Luffy jumped down from Law and looked up at him in amazement. “Torao! You’re so tall! I didn’t notice before!”
“I think maybe you’re just short, Luffy-ya,” Law answered, turning his head to try and hide his blush.
“Hmmmm, you’re too tall!” Luffy declared, before wrapping arms behind Law’s neck and pulling him down to Luffy’s level. Law started to make a noise of protest but was shocked to silence when he realized what Luffy was doing.
Luffy gently rubbed his cheek and neck against Law’s, and Law felt tears spring into his eyes. “L-Luffy-ya, what are you doing??”
The alpha chuffed happily. “Scenting you? I’ve been waiting forever to do this!”
He had almost never been scented before, another mixing his scent with theirs. Even his friends were reluctant to do it, despite how close they all were.
“But my scent, you’re gonna smell like me now…” Law warned gloomily.
“Uh, yea. That’s the whole point,” Luffy said casually, pulling away once he was satisfied with his work.
Law looked at Luffy doubtfully. “Don’t you think it’s creepy? Or morbid? Or gross?”
Luffy cocked his head to the side like a confused dog. “Huh? I already told you, I really like your scent, Torao! It reminds me of, like, a tough fight! Or a wild adventure!”
An image passed quickly through Law’s mind, Luffy in a fight: the hands that had gripped him so tightly, had caressed him so gently, curled into fists and bloody. Somehow it fit.
Law held a hand to his neck, feeling the heat of his blush on his skin. “I guess I didn’t think you meant it? Most people don’t like my scent,” Law admitted.
“I don’t say things that I don’t mean Torao,” Luffy said with a serious tone.
Law didn’t know what to say to that. Luffy had yet to do a single thing he expected him to do.
Before anything more could be said, a loud grumbling came from Luffy’s stomach, and Robin chuckled. Law’s eyes darted over to her, he’d forgotten she was here and now he felt even more embarrassed.
“Torao! Are you hungry? I’m starving . Do you wanna go get food with me?” Luffy asked excitedly, looking at Law expectantly. “My friend Sanji works at a restaurant not far from here!”
Law hadn’t planned on spending time with the Alpha so soon, but he was hungry. “I could get some food. Though, I think my friends wanted to get dinner with me when I left…”
The happy Alpha’s scent washed over him, smelling like sun soaked straw. “They can come too! Let’s go, let’s go!” Luffy started to pull Law toward the exit by the elbow.
“Ahem, before you go, aren’t you forgetting something?” Robin called.
“Oh, you’re right, Robin!” Luffy declared before spinning around, pulling Law down by his neck again and kissing him enthusiastically. Law was stunned for a moment before returning the kiss eagerly. He’d be lying to himself if he said he hadn’t wanted it.
Parting only to take a breath, the two of them rested their foreheads together, Luffy smiling broadly. “Shishishi, I hope that was okay, I’ve wanted to do that for days.”
“Luffy-ya, I think we’re doing things a little backwards, but yes, that was definitely okay,” Law answered.
Robin cleared her throat again and laughed. “I meant the exit paperwork for Mr. Trafalgar, but I suppose that works too.”
Law turned beet red and bowed his head sheepishly. “Sorry, I’ll fill that out right away, then we can go get food.”
Luffy wrapped his arms around Law from behind as he leaned over the counter, breathing his scent in deeply. Law could feel his smile against his back. “Torao hurry! I’m hungryyyyy!”
