Chapter 1: daffodils
Summary:
Daffodils ✿ new beginnings and hope for the future
Chapter Text
September 12- Sophomore year, second week
Every school has that one couple that everyone knows. That everyone loves. That everyone wishes they were. At Chromia high school, that one couple was Scott and Milo. Scott and Milo were two stunning sophomores.
Scott had beautiful short cyan hair (at night, it was a pale green) with blue eyes that could shimmer in the sunlight. He typically wore sweaters on top of white collared shirts. He had a thick Scottish accent with a tinge of British from living around them for so long.
Milo, on the other hand, was more casual. He wore sweaters and sweatshirts that always seemed stained, with jeans most every day. He had black hair tinted brown from sun bleaching, red eyes that always seemed to look as if there were too many thoughts behind them. Milo had one of those accents where you can't tell what it is but know it's foreign.
While the two were asleep, Jimmy Shadowlady lay in bed, wide awake.
Jimmy had dark blond hair and eyes that were a dark brown, almost black. He was the kind of guy who threw on the first shirt and pair of pants he could find in his closet. And somehow, by some odd stroke of luck, they always matched. Jimmy had a British accent, but his sister could argue, as he could never say banana right. Nor could he spell it. He was illiterate. Jimmy was the kind of guy to put down "cat" in Scrabble.
He got up at five thirty in the morning exact to get ready. He took a quick shower, and as soon as he got out, he could hear his sister banging on the bathroom door. "Jimmy! Are you done? I need to brush my teeth!" She asked through the door as he put toothpaste on the toothbrush. "I'm dressed, yeah. You can just come in as long as you don't have to pee." Jimmy laughed, starting to brush his teeth. He unlocked the door with his free hand and opened the door. Lizzie entered quickly, doing up her hair and patting concealer under her eyes.
She had cotton candy blue hair starting to sprout brown back at her roots. She usually wore dresses and skirts and dressed pretty much cottagecore. Her accent was also pretty thick, and she could say banana the British way. Her brown eyes complimented her hair beautifully, even if it wasn't on purpose.
Jimmy spat in the sink and cleaned his toothbrush. Lizzie mimicked him, also spitting. She had washed her own brush and spat once more. Jimmy left the bathroom first, leaving her to finish up. He headed to the kitchen, where he saw no trace of his parents. He saw a small note on the fridge amongst coupons and reminders. It read, “Went out for a week. In the States. Won’t be home until next Thursday. I Locked the liquor cabinet. DO NOT have a party. We will know.” Jimmy didn't expect it to be with any traces of ‘love you,’ but he still looked for it. Looking for it was pointless anyway. His parents didn't love them. They were never even home. And if they were, it meant one of their kids messed up.
Jimmy would have done anything to have parents that were present. On the other hand, Lizzie didn’t seem to mind at all. She loved it. Their parents not being around meant no one to catch her sneaking out to a party or friend’s house. As Lizzie would boast to her friends that she didn't have parents to see her, Jimmy envied his friends when they talked about their parents catching them. He wished a parent would tell him what to do and what not to do. Instead, he had his sister, who did worse things than make food the wrong way. Lizzie smoked, did drugs, drank, and partied after midnight. She was the worst influence possible. Despite looking sweet and kind, she could destroy your entire social world. Nobody messed with her group of friends, and it was clear.
Jimmy walked with his sister to high school that morning. They split by the time they got to the gates, and Jimmy found his two friends, Grian and Joel, waiting for him.
Grian had blond hair and circle glasses. He wore single-colored sweaters, usually paired with black jeans. He was by far one of the top kids in their year. A guy who always had his nose in a book, or studying. If he wasn't doing either of those activities, he was in the school’s AV club and or computers room, or with his friends.
Joel, on the other hand, was below average height with brown hair and a well-faded green streak in it. He usually wore more dull colored shirts with whatever pants he could find and a ripped and tattered leather jacket. Joel always had either a toothpick of a stick of gum in his mouth at all times. Although he thought he was cool, nobody agreed. Nor did people let him copy their homework, despite him always asking. He knew what was going on in class, he just always forgot homework was there.
As soon as Jimmy caught up to his friends, they began walking into school. “Dude if we’re late Mr. Riffs is going to kick our asses!” Mr. Riffs was the AV and computers teacher. His full last name was Pixlriffs but students tended to only call him Mr. Riffs. They ran into the AV room as the two students who did the announcements sat at their desk. A greenscreen was behind them, and as soon as they saw Jimmy, Joel, and Grian walk in and get in their spots, they threw their thumbs up.
Katherine was a sweetheart with black hair and a constant smile. Her style always changed, as if she got a new closet every day. She did the drama club and always seemed eager to talk about it if you asked.
Joey had blondish brown hair and a smirk plastered on his face. He wore tee shirts and randomized pants. He also did the school’s drama club, but unlike Katherine, he hated talking about it. Normally he wouldn’t even acknowledge drama kids in the halls unless he was friends with them. You could always see him pestering Katherine, though.
“Good morning everyone, I’m Katherine Elizabeth,” Katherine started, putting on the biggest smile possible, her hands folded on the table. “And I’m Joey Graceffa.” Joey finished, sounding plainly dull. “And we’ll be on morning announcements for this year!” Katherine stated, glancing at Joey, giving him a kick under the table. He suddenly snapped back to reality. “Oh- yeah. Lunch for today is hotdogs and fries. Say, Katherine,” He started as he looked at her. “Do you like hotdogs?” Katherine suddenly became very interested in her shoes. She was quiet for a moment before her eyes glistened with tears. “No,” She stated, her voice trembling. “I’m more of a fan of cucumbers, myself.” Joey gave a pleased smirk, before the school mascot, a llama, entered, standing in front of the table. Shelby, who ran audio, played a trumpet fanfare, before fading it out, allowing the mascot to speak.
Shelby had reddish orange hair that seemed to change monthly. She had brown eyes, and looked much younger than 15. Her style was mostly soft colors, no matter what it was. She had four main friends, and they were her whole world. She was a witch, and would always give readings to anyone who asked. She specialized in palm and tarot card readings.
The principal began to speak, as to what he said, Jimmy wasn’t paying attention. He was too busy watching Katherine and Joey, who both had their microphones off, but were still moving their mouths. Katherine suddenly stood up quickly and stormed out of the classroom. Joey looked quite satisfied with her reaction. Jimmy couldn’t help but wonder what Joey had told her to make her so upset. It was then that the Principal ended the announcement and let the teacher stop the live stream.
The bell indicating homeroom was over rang, and everyone got up to leave. Jimmy noticed Shelby pick up Katherine’s bag to give it back to her. Katherine still hadn’t come back to the room.
____________________________________________________________________________
Scott got out of school and beelined to Joey’s locker. Joey and Xornoth stood there, chatting. Xornoth got a good glance at his twin storming to the locker and took it as his invitation to leave. Before Joey could follow, Scott cut him off. “What the fuck did you say to her.” He didn’t give Joey a chance to respond. "She came into first period crying that you quote, 'brought it up'. What the hell did you do?"
Joey looked slightly panicked. "I didn't do anything! She put words in my mouth! I didn't say anything rude to her!" Scott's eyes narrowed, fixated on Joey, trying to find the flicker indicating a lie. Joey gave him nothing. Instead, he huffed, turned on his heels, and walked away, leaving Scott frozen in place.
Scott eventually stormed home himself, jumping on his bike quickly. Once he was home, he sat at the kitchen counter. (the house i imagine is the one from Aphmau Phoenix Drop High Aphs house) Xornoth was already sat at a barstool.
Xornoth, Scott’s twin, looked nothing like his brother. Xornoth’s hair was a magenta, and his jawline was far sharper. While Scott looked very much like their mother despite the brown hair, Xornoth looked like their father. Xornoth consistently dressed in black and purple. He permanently had a look of boredom on his face, and smiling just looked menacing.
“How was your second monday?” Mrs. Smajor asked, a smile on her face.
Scott’s mother had blonde hair that was in a tight ponytail with a ribbon on the top of her head. She was a stay at home mom, who spent most of the days cooking, cleaning, tending to chores. Today, she was wearing a yellow tee shirt with blue jeans. On top, she had a white apron that, despite being used for years, never had a single stain.
Scott smiled, sliding his backpack to the floor. “It was standard. That dick Joey said something to Katherine and ruined her day.” His mother was making an after school snack for her sons when she looked up. “Do you know what he said?” She asked, mildly concerned. Scott simply shook his head. “Neither of them would say. Just that he ‘brought it up’, whatever that means.” he stated, shrugging.
Xornoth looked awfully suspicious, staring at his socks. “He called her a slut- well, no, he asked if she was a slut.” he pitched in, nonchalantly. “He was pretty proud of it. Told me just before you stormed up to him.” Scott stared at him in utter disbelief, blinking. “What else did he tell you?” He asked, not quite angry, but more so in shock. Xornoth only shook his head. “Didn’t get to say anymore before you were on his ass.”
Their mother put a single hand up, closing her eyes, looking for an ounce of patience. “Can we please calm down with the swearing? You’re still next to your mother.” The twins both muttered apologies.
Scott and his brother stared each other down for a moment, Scott held an angry and slightly concerned look, and Xornoth's had nothing on it. He had his face resting, meerley looking at Scott.
The silence was broken by Scott getting up suddenly and storming to his room. He slammed the door, opening his phone. Slumped on the bed, he opened the contact labeled "Flower girly🌸🌼🏵️" and their recent conversations filled the screen, grey and blue messages blurred. Scott was only focused on his keyboard.
Sep. 12 3:05
Xornoth told me what Joey said. Im sorry that happened. You don't have to talk about it, but if you want to, I'll listen.
4:23
Katherine? You don't have to leave me on read just say you don't want to talk about it
Read 3:06pm
Jimmy opened the door, the house quiet, per usual. He walked to his room, shutting the door behind him. He heard Lizzie come in not long after, a few friends with her. The house immediately filled with the smell of weed and cigarettes. Jimmy laid on his bed, on his side. He could hear his sister and her friends talking and laughing.
Jimmy felt his phone vibrate, and looked down towards it. Just Joel asking for homework answers. They didn't have any homework. He put his phone down, staring at the ceiling. The stench of weed was more prominent, and it was obvious they were still smoking. Jimmy wasn't the biggest fan of his sisters friends, so he never left his room while they were over.
He fell asleep with his window open, desperately trying to rid the smell from his room. He had a dream that night that he was walking through the school hallway. Trying to find his class as kids dissolved into theirs. He went to where he remembered the door being, but as soon as he opened it was greeted by a teacher and ongoing class he'd never seen before. He quickly apologized and ran out, thinking he must have made a wrong turn somewhere. He found himself running through the hallway, looking around frantically for his classroom. He slipped under a stray pencil on the ground and flew forwards. His head was almost to the floor as he closed his eyes and braced for the pain.
Jimmy woke with a bolt.

Chapter Text
Light began to seep through the window. Jimmy turned to face the window, groaning as he put his phone down. He groggily blinked around until he realized the smell of the night before was gone. Jimmy lazily threw a grey shirt and stumbled his way to the bathroom. He put toothpaste on his toothbrush, and brought it to his mouth. After a minute (because nobody actually brushes their teeth for 2 min) he spat into the sink and washed off the brush.
He rubbed his eyes as he made his way to the kitchen, phone in hand. A text from "mom" showed on his screen. He clicked it, opening messages. The message read, "trial is taking long. Won't be home for another month or so. Stay out of trouble." Any other kid seeing the term "stay out of trouble" from their parents would take it with a grain of salt. When every other parent says it they mean it with a subtle loving wink. Jimmy's mom did not mean it with love, or a wink.
Jimmy decided to skip breakfast. Instead, he grabbed his bag and walked straight to school. He distantly heard Lizzie call out for him before he walked out the door. He decided to send her a quick text. "Sorry Liz. Woke up before you and just got ready. Went out early." She replied seconds later with a thumbs up emoji. He had grabbed his rollerblades as he walked out the door, sitting on the curb to put them on. Once they were on, he made his way to the nearby park.
The park was empty, seeing as it was seven in the morning, school starting at 8, except for a group of kids at the volleyball court. Jimmy could only recognize two of them. One was a Denholm, and the other was a Watson. Those were the only two he knew. And only because of their family names. Jimmy knew they were all freshman, though. There was screaming from the court, and then there would be followed hushes from the rest of the group.
As he began to count, there were six of them, only five of them in the game. The other girl sat on the grass calling scores. She was the one Jimmy noticed first. Bright pink shoulder length hair and an audible accent even from far away. She wasn't British. Jimmy skated to a bench not far from the kids and tried to figure out who they were. On one side of the net, a girl with straight black hair, the Denholm girl. A boy with brown hair. On the other side, a girl with curly black hair. Another brown haired boy, though significantly taller. And a blonde, the well known, charming Watson boy.
Jimmy couldn't think of any good reason they were playing so early in the morning, but they all looked like they were having fun.
When Scott woke up in the morning, his sister was long gone. Her volleyball taken with her. Though unfortunately, his brother was not gone. Xornoth was wearing an outfit Scott deemed as 'emo'. Scott brushed his teeth and went down to the kitchen. He grabbed a protein bar, his bag, and walked out, not forgetting to say goodbye to his mom.
He decided to walk to the park, as he had a spare twenty minutes until the school doors opened. His sister was most likely there. There was no one in the park other than his sister and her friends, and some random boy he recognized roller blading around on the sidewalk.
That was cool
He thought, watching the boy do a spin without error.
Shit, I'm staring
He came to realize as soon as the boy locked eyes with him. Scott quickly looked away and instead to his sister's friend group. He grabbed a stick off the ground, throwing it in their general direction. They were no longer playing volleyball, but now all sitting on the grass talking. It landed next to one of the boys in the middle, his blond hair shooting up as he looked at Scott. "Ey!- oh. Aimee, it's your brother."
"Hm," Aimee was messing with the curly haired girl's braids. She looked over to the Watson boy, then to Scott. She smiled when they locked eyes. She hurriedly ushered him over.
Aimee Denholm. She had straight black hair and brown eyes. The youngest of 5. She had the hair of their father with the face of her mother. She played volleyball, best at setting. He was trying out for the team that afternoon. They had a lesbian pin on their backpack.
Guqqie. Guqqie wasn't her actual name, it was a sweet nickname everyone called her. She had short pink hair. She was almost always found at least ten feet from Aimee. She had star hair clips in her hair.
Michela darkbrows. Michela had darker skin and black, typically braided, curly hair. Her personality fit her hair shape perfectly. Fun. She always had at least one earbud in, despite always being told to take it out. Her hair typically hid it.
Ran Booth. His name was actually Ronald, but everyone called him Ron. He was then called Ron Weasley and decided Ron sounded like Ran and went by Ran. He plays volleyball with Aimee, though he's a middle blocker. He'd also be auditioning after school. He wore a black mask at all times, rarely ever seen in public without it. Other than at lunch, in which he'd take it off only for split seconds at a time.
Tom Watson. Tom was the youngest of three, his brothers in 12th and 10th. He was an obvious freshman, loud, always cheerful. It was terrifyingly motivating. He came from a rich family, known for being top donors for the school. His mother and father were the main reason their school could focus on female sport teams, as well as providing supplies for the teachers whenever requested.
Toby Smith. He looked younger than he was, like middle school young. He wasn't younger than any other freshman, he just had a baby face.
Scott glanced at his phone, the time glancing back at him. Oh. He had five minutes to go back to the school doors. He told the freshman group, then got up and walked with them to the school entrance.
Jimmy looked at the group to find them getting up and running off. Jimmy took that as a sign to leave. He skated back to the bench with his things, switching his shoes. He walked back to school, walking through the doors.
He put his things away and went to the AV room, his first period things in hand. "Morning guys." Joel and Grian turned to look at Jimmy, smiling. Rasbi gave a small wave and a "good morning Jimmy!" Shelby looked over at him to wave.
Rasbi looked around the room, counting heads. "Alright, that's everyone. Don't bother getting in your spots, we won't be doing the morning video today. Instead, I have an announcement." There were a few groans, and most people sitting on the floor or leaning on a wall.
"As a few of you may already know, I am the president of both the AV and drama club. Every past year, I've kept them separate. But, seeing as it's my Junior year and two years is going to fly by fast, I've decided to merge the two activities. The drama play this year is going to be heathers, and Mr. Impulse has already gave me the okay. Although it won't be a play. This year and hopefully next year, we're going to work together to make a movie by the end of the year!"
Rasbi expected some excitement, but everyone just looked confused. She cleared her throat and continued.
"We still need two people on cameras and one on audio from this club, in which I've already decided will be Katherine on audio, and Joel and Grian on cameras. I didn't assume any of you three wanted to do acting."
There was silence.
"That's what I thought. For anyone else who wants to audition for a part, I'll be handing out a portion of the script once we leave. There's a female and male lead, so it doesn't matter your gender. Auditions are tomorrow after school, I hope to, and should, see you all there. Even if you're not acting. Everyone is dismissed!" Rasbi then proceeded to hand out one of two packets to everyone in the room as they walked out, reminding them they all had to be there.
As Jimmy walked out, he looked down to his papers. The male lead. JD. he waited to get to his next class to take a look at the lines.
After asking a friend, it was the same set of lines from everyone. The lines were from the scene in which JD and Veronica are spiking Heather Chandler's coffee. He reread it a few different times, before putting it away and opening his bag for his book. He sighed, opening his phone for just a moment. He was allowed to, before the bell rang at least. His phone time was interrupted as Tango ran through the doorway as the bell was ringing.
Tango had dyed blue spikey hair and amber eyes. The teacher shot him a glare as he quickly took his seat next to Jimmy. Their teacher coughed, his spit flying. "Now that we are all here, I'd like to collect homework and then begin our lecture." He patted his desk as kids came up and placed their homework down. As Jimmy sat back down, the teachers words began to muffle.
Jimmy and tango had dated briefly freshman year. Although they liked each other, and they were happy, the only issue was they both weren't in the right headspace, and would self sabotage, which directly affected the other. They decided it would be better to stay friends. Now, Tango was dating a sweet, pretty girl that all of his friends seemed to love. Tango would argue they love her more than him.
Who was even in drama? Jimmy knew Rasbi was, but had no idea anyone else in the film club did drama. He knew he was forced to go to the first club meeting, so why not try for a part.
He was going to try for J.D, knowing well he didn't have any acting skills whatsoever. He'd most likely get a background character. Maybe someone's dad.
The next day seemed to pass quickly, as Jimmy stood, staring at the auditorium entrance. It was a separate building from the school, so he had to walk a bit. He walked in and was immediately engulfed in kids his age talking and laughing on the stage. He walked down and through the aisle, jumping on the stage. He sat himself in a corner, looking around to see the people who he'd be spending the year after school with. The AV club was there, he spotted Rasbi talking to two other boys. There was about half the sophomore year there, and students in other grades scattered between.
He recognized a few kids from his classes. As he continued to look, he spotted two of his sisters friends. He knew approaching them would land him nasty side glares.
Tango was there. Oh thank god Tango was there. Oh. Oh he was with his other friends. Jimmy didn’t really know Tangos other friends. He only met them a few times briefly when they were dating the year prior.
Jimmy decided to walk over to Tango and his friends, waving shyly. “Hey, mind if I sit with you guys?” Tango and his friends looked up, smiling. “Yeah man!” Jimmy sat down, nervous. He remembered Skizz and Impulse, but seeing bigb was the shock. He looked just as shocked. They both averted eye contact.
Tango immediately started asking how Jimmy was, and introducing his friends. It was then he realized the distance between Jimmy and BigB. “You guys got some history?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. “He’s my sister's smoke buddy.” Jimmy grumbled, fiddling with his bag that was next to him.
It was then that Rasbi burst from behind the curtains. “Everyone here? No? Their loss! Let’s start auditions!”
Everyone began to stir and a few people came through the door just on time. Rasbi glanced at them, then back at the group.
“Let the auditions begin!”

Chapter Text
Everyone had to preform their lines, and then cold read with someone of the opposite gender. Jimmy found himself cold reading with a girl named Cleo, who was apparently also a crew member who was supposed to work on props.
They had to read the scene of Brad and Veronica. Brad being the male, Veronica being the female. Rasbi would read stage directions.
Jimmy cleared his throat awkwardly, reading off his page. “So, are you a cheerleader?” Cleo responded by scoffing, seeming put off. “No, not at all.” Jimmy laughed slightly. “You’re pretty enough to be one.” Cleo rolled her eyes, hand on her hip. “Gee, thanks.” Jimmy looked back down at his paper. “It’s so great to be able to talk to a girl and not have to ask ‘what’s your major?’ I hate that.”
Rasbi coughed slightly. “They uncomfortably sip their beers. A deadly pause ensues.” She sounded tired, as she probably was.
Jimmy smiled the best he could on command at the moment. “So when you go to college, what kind of subjects do you think you’ll study?” He asked, looking interested.
“We’re skipping the scene of Heather and David. Start at so what do you say. Brad has given up on the conversation” Rasbi butted in.
They both nod and look back down at their pages. “So what do you say we head up to my room and have a real party. I’ve got the best Wind..ham?” He began, hesitantly. “..Hill CD collection in the dorm.”
“A big amiable student approaches before Veronica can show disgust. Owen, student.” Owen, who had been filling in on multiple scenes nodded and looked down. “Brad-man! Robinson’s lookin for you. You said he owes you for blow and he just got some product himself.”
Jimmy scoffed. “You’re kidding. That pecker actually scored something on his own?”
“He’s in Sheila’s room, guy. Party it up!”
Rasbi then cut them off. “That’s good. Next two?”
It was Scott Denholm and some Bek girl. They seemed like they were somewhat friends? He couldn’t tell based on their expressions. They acted well. Bek sounded more like she was hiding a mass murder charge than a girl trying to get fucked. Scott sounded like he knew what he was doing.
Jimmy never talked to Scott. Not since maybe third grade when they were classed together. Jimmy doubted Scott knew who he was. Big school. They had made eye contact the other day in the park, but Jimmy was sure there was no recognition in Scott’s eyes. Scott had glanced at Jimmy once or twice during the auditions, almost inspecting him rather than just peeking. Jimmy thought nothing of it. Whenever they’d catch eye contact, Jimmy would just smile.
Sooner than later the auditions were over. It was about 6 or 6:30. Jimmy left quickly, leaving Joel and Grian, even though they agreed to walk home together. He heard a faint “Jim!-“ behind him, but payed no mind. He’d deal with it in the morning.
And suddenly it was the next morning. He opened Grian’s contact and shot him a message
Me
Hey sorry I blew you and Joel off yesterday. Do you wanna walk to school?
7:00 am
Grian
Ok
7:51 am
Me
I’ll meet you in front of my house?
7:51 am
Grian
Ok
7:52 am
Jimmy grabbed his backpack and stood outside leaning on Lizzie’s car. Grian showed up shortly. “No Joel?” He asked, immediately. Jimmy shook his head. “I didn’t feel like being pestered so early” Grian hummed. “I’m gonna tell him you said that.” Jim smiled. “He probably already knows.” Grian snickered.
“Yeah, because you’re such a butt?” He asked. Jimmy shrugged. “I wouldn’t say that.”
The mood ever so slightly shifted. “So what’s up?” If Jimmy had feathers they would have perked up. “Huh? Oh, nothing. I just wanted to apologize for running out yesterday.” “Yeahhh. What happened there?” “Was tired. Plus, Tango hanging out with my sister’s friends made me want to get out as soon as possible.” “Why? Is there something wrong with her friends?” “No. It’s just that Lizzie and Cleo sometimes smell like cigarettes and then it will rub off on BigB or Ren. Just didn’t want to risk also smelling like cigarettes.” “Uh huh.” Grian added, most definitely not convinced. Jimmy didn’t have the patience to explain it more. He’d probably just get upset that Grian didn’t get it.
The mood returned to normal after that, and they laughed on their way to school. Joel was waiting at the entrance, arms folded.
“Walked to school without me then?” Annoyance bathed his voice. Joel was pissed, understandably. “I waited. For ten minutes at my door. Could have at least given the heads up you didn’t want to see me.”
Jimmy caught himself grimacing. Grian looked between them, silent. Jimmy opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again. “It’s not like that, man. Didn’t feel like chatting this morning and I knew G wouldn’t bug me.” Joel’s eyebrows furrowed. He scoffed. “Oh, so I bug you?”
Grian rolled his eyes, kicking a rock near his foot. “Both of you, quit it. Joel, Tim didn’t sleep well and wasn’t up to talk this early. He knew I would follow the atmosphere.” Jimmy nodded slightly, trying to show that he was apologetic.
Joel looked at the ground for a moment, huffed, and looked back up at them. “Fine. I get it.” He exasperated, stomping inside the building. Jimmy looked to Grian helplessly, and was met with a shake of the head. “Give him an hour or two. He’ll get over it.”
Av club went smoothly. There weren’t nearly as many complications, but Rasbi left the teacher to deal with directions for that morning, seeing as she was busy assigning roles for drama and printing out the announcement. She ran out half way through with a piece of paper, and Jimmy assumed she was going to put the paper up on a bulletin board. She ran back in for a short moment to grab another piece of paper. That one had a photo of a camera on it and read “AV camera not focusing correctly. Will pay £20 to have it fixed!! If interested, please find junior Rasbi ASAP.”
Once she disappeared, she never came back. They finished morning announcements and everyone went on with their days. Joel was still shooting Jimmy death glares.
Jimmy sat down in one of his classes, Tango sitting next to him. He opened his mouth once or twice, before finally speaking. “I didn’t know you were friends with stoners.” Shit. It wasn’t supposed to come out like that.
Tango looked taken aback, blinking. “What?” He sounded more sad than anything. Most likely being upset that his friend would so confidently talk shit about his other friends.
“That- uh- didn’t come out the way I intended it to, sorry. What I meant is, you’re friends with my sister and her friends. They’re all stoners.” Jimmy shrugged. Tango’s eyebrows furrowed. “That’s incredibly rude and I find it offensive that you talk about my close friends like that.”
Jimmy stumbled for words before the teacher walked in and began their lecture.
After class, Jimmy ran out the room. He ran his hands through his hair, sighing. He kept blowing off his friends. They’re gonna get sick of him eventually. He’ll fix it. He always does.
It’s early in the day and he’s already exhausted. Searching for a bulletin board, he looked at the drama club post.

And finally, at the bottom in fine print said,
“thank you to everyone who is participating! Due to schedule issues we could not have everyone who auditioned. A special thanks to everyone who came to auditions !! - the directing crew”
Jimmy blinked. And then blinked again. And again. He was stunned. Why, out of everyone, was he the female lead? Where was Rasbi. He looked around, and saw her walking to one of her classes. He tapped her shoulder lightly. She spun around, hair swishing. “Jimmy! Hi! Can I help you?” She spoke with her usual calm voice with a hint of a smile.
“So- um- I got the female lead?” He asked smalley. She smiled, tilting her head. “You did! You have a problem with your role?” He hesitated, scratching his neck. “No- I mean- I just think that there were a bunch more people who deserved it. I just- why’d I get the female role?” He put an obvious emphasis on the word female. Holding her smile, she began to walk, looking at her watch. “Well why does anyone get the role? Because they’re fit for it. And we believe you’re fit for the role. From three opinions. That says a lot. Why? Do you not want it? We can get you a switch out. It’s not too late. I’ll just do reprints.” She started rambling, tilting her head instead of her hands, seeing as they were full.
“No! No! I’ll take the roll! If you think i'm fit for it, I believe you. Sorry to bug you.” Rasbi shook her head. “Never! I’ve gotta get to class though. You’ve made the right decision, shadowlady. I’ll see you at rehearsals.” She shifted her items to one arm so that she could salute to him and scuffle into her class. Jimmy had to run to his own.

Chapter Text
Jimmy sat in a circle, as all of the chairs were set up in the auditorium as such. On the stage, nearly thirty chairs were aligned in a circle with 26 people sitting. Everyone had their scripts, and a highlighter. Across from Jimmy was Tango, and next to tango was Scott. Off to the far left of Jimmy was Shelby, and across from her was Krow.
Rasbi sat also inside the circle, with Owen and Apo on each side of her. They were a few seats off of the left of Scott.
Jimmy looked down at the paperback book that had his script, and the blue highlighter in his hand next to it. They were sitting in his lap.
Rasbi cleared her throat loudly; and any stray talking ceased immediately. “Alright cast! You all have your scripts and highlighters. Please highlight any line that is yours and your name in any stage directions. If everyone could go around and say your name, as well as the role you’re playing. I’ll start! I’m Rasbi, and I am the head director.” She turned to her left, where Apo sat. She laid her hand out, gesturing him to speak.
“Oh- um. I’m Apo, I’m one of the co-directors.” A few characters Jimmy didn’t care for passed, and it was Shelby’s turn. Jimmy knew her from AV club. She was the one who liked to have fun with her head and had a bubbly attitude. He thought she was on sound. apparently not. “Hi! I’m Shelby, and I’m playing Heather Macanara!” Jimmy smiled at her enthusiasm and a few others went by. Eventually, it was his turn.
He scrambled for words. Your name. Your name and character. He cleared his throat slightly. “I’m Jimmy, and I’m playing Veronica.” A few confused faces, but they moved on. Krow introduced herself, and it moved on. Eventually it landed on Tango.
“I’m Tango, and I play Jason Dean.” He seemed quite tired. Jimmy didn’t blame him. And then, the star of the show. Scott Smajor. Scott walked around the auditorium like he owned the place. “Scott Smajor. I play Heather Chandler herself.”
Jimmy was awed at his confidence. He swore he heard someone murmur. “Figures. He’s got the spunk for it.” It intimidated Jimmy, truthfully.
As the cold read went by, Jimmy was struggling to highlight all of his parts as he went. He decided to do them at home. It was after practice that he saw Scott walking up to him in the corner of his eye, he was putting away a chair, and once he did, turned to face Scott.
Scott smiled at Jimmy, slightly waving. “Hey, I’m Scott. I’m also a sophomore.” Jimmy swallowed I know who you are. “Hi.” He noticed now that they were the same height. “I like your hair.” He blurted, immediately then covering his mouth.
Scott laughed and blushed slightly, pulling up a hand to move his hair to in front of his eyes so that he could see it. “Oh! Thank you. It’s a bit ratty today.” The blond shook his head quickly, taking his hand down. “I don’t think so! I think it looks nice!” Scott once again smiled, and his hands joined behind his back, around the small of it.
“Well, I wanted to ask if you wanted to hang out today. Maybe go over the script? Like character analysis or something.” His eyes fell to the ground, slightly embarrassed.
Jimmy couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “Yeah. I’d love to. I’ll talk to my sister real quick and come back to you.”
——————————————————————
Scott watched as Jimmy scampered off to the upperclassman with pink hair, talk to her for a moment, and come back with a smile. “Alright, we’re all good. I’ve just gotta be home by ten.” They both subconsciously checked their phones, looking at the time. 4:56. Scott doubted they’d be out for five hours, but made mental note. “Okay! I was thinking of going to that diner. The one that’s five minutes away from here? They’re open late and give student discounts.” He saw a flicker of recognition on Jimmy’s face. “Oh! Cleo works there! The girl playing Mrs Fleming. Only on the weekends, and late nights, but she works there nonetheless.” Scott couldn’t figure out why this was important knowledge, but nodded anyway.
He turned around, beginning to walk. Quick footsteps followed behind him. He walked out of the school, and Jimmy scurried next to him, matching the pace. Scott twiddled his thumbs, trying to think of a conversation starter. He thought back to the articles he used to read. “Um.. what’s one of your pet peeves?” He asked shyly, looking up to Jimmy. Jimmy thought for a moment. “When people don’t listen to me, I think. I find it most recognizable when I’m crying and someone does the shush thing thinking they’re comforting. It bugs me.” Scott nodded, making a mental note of the fact Jimmy liked for his whole opinion to be shared. “What about you?” Scott was momentarily pulled out of his thought train. “Oh gosh, I’m actually not sure. On the idea of yours, when people talk over me. Or when they walk too fast or too slow, like they can’t keep up with my walking.”
It seemed like something lit up in Jimmy’s eyes as they got closer to the diner. “I know exactly what you mean! About the walking speed. It’s so annoying when someone is three steps behind you and trying to hold a conversation.” Scott laughed out loud, startling the other. “Yes!! It’s like, if you’re talking to me, at least walk next to me.” He expressed, opening the door to the diner.
Taking a seat in the booth, they both take glances at the menu. Scott already knows what he wants, though it’s just a burger and fries. He notices Jimmy’s eyes darting across the menu for a minute or so, before opening his mouth to speak. “I think I’m just gonna get a basket of fries. Not very hungry today.” Scott studies his face for a moment, before nodding. “Yeah, okay. I’m getting a burger. If you change your mind, you can have a bite or two.” Jimmy flashes a smile at him. “Deal.”
They start talking about the weather, both smiling and occasionally laughing. Scott can’t help but notice that Jimmy sneaks glances out the window every now and then. “You keep looking out the window. You okay?” Jimmy looks at him quickly, eyes finally peeled away from the window. “Oh- yeah, sorry. There’s just a tree, and the space between a clump of leaves looks like a dog and I can’t unsee it.” Scott quickly looks out the window, eyebrows furrowed. “I can’t see it?” “The tree with the squirrel under it. Dead center of the leaves and slightly to the right it looks like a dog’s head.
Scott frowns. “I can’t see it.” Both of their attention is drawn away by a girl with brown hair approaching them, with a small notebook in her hand and an apron. She had brown hair and brown eyes. “Hi! I’m water, I’ll be your waiter for today. What can I get you two for drinks?” Jimmy and Scott glanced at each other. “Two waters,” Scott smiled. The girl thought for a moment, before it dawned on her. They meant the drinks. She quickly nodded, before scribbling it down. “And do we know what we want for dinner tonight?” Scott nodded quickly. “A burger with fries, and a separate basket of fries.” She quickly nodded, and disappeared after.
“Do we go to school with her? I swear I’ve never heard of a Water.” Jimmy asked, tilting his head slightly. “I think so? I swear I had my algebra with her last year. She sat a few rows behind me.”
It wasn’t long after that Water brought them their food and drinks. Jimmy slowly picked at his fries, while Scott took large bites from his burger. “Hey, are you sure you don’t want any of my burger?” Jimmy looks up quickly at the sound of talking, then glances at the burger on Scott’s place. He’s hungry. He’s really fucking hungry. And these fries taste like shit.
“You know what? Sure.” Scott smiles and pushes the plate toward Jimmy. “Have all you want.” Jimmy’s eyes look down at the food and shoot right back up. “Really? I’m sorry but these fries are terrible.” Scott couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ll take you somewhere else next time.” Jimmy felt his cheeks warm.
After they ate, the window was patterned with rain droplets. They paid and left, and hoped it wouldn’t be too bad on the walk home. The second they stepped out, it started to pour. “Fuck.” Jimmy mumbled, standing under the diner's shade.
Scott thought for a moment. “Could we stay at your house? Er.. I guess I crash at your house.” He mumbled the last part. Jimmy felt a light blush dust his cheeks. He never had anyone else other than Joel, Grian, or Lizzie in his bed. He swallowed and then nodded. “Yeah. My place is a mess right now and might smell like weed, but okay.”
Scott let out a small laugh, and started walking backwards in the rain with a grin. “Show me the way? I have no idea where you live.” There was a beat of silence before Jimmy came back to reality and shook his head. “Oh yeah- of course! We might have to run.” Scott nodded, and gave a small wink.
Jimmy stared out before sprinting for it. He heard the harsh patter of Scott’s shoes hitting the puddles behind him. He could barely see, but he mostly knew where he was going. Scott was laughing behind him, eager to follow. Jimmy felt himself start to laugh as he cut a corner to continue on the sidewalk.
Scott squeaked as he almost slipped, turning harshly. He did his best to capture his balance, still running. He couldn’t risk falling behind. Jimmy abruptly stopped, and Scott nearly ran into him. Jimmy ran up to the house in front of them and fumbled with the lock before ushering Scott inside.
Scott couldn’t help notice it was significantly smaller than his own, as it was a single story. It looked run down as well.
These kids' parents are famous lawyers? Where is their money going?
Nonetheless, he rushed into the house and quickly shook his hair dry and kicked off his shoes. Jimmy was doing the same and running to a bathroom to get towels for the both of them. Scott finally got a good look at the inside of the house, and it had a basement at least. He turned his head and damn was it tiny. The kitchen connected to the table, which connected to the living room, which then split in a hallway that had doors on each side.
Jimmy then came back, throwing a towel at Scott, then apologizing for it. “Sorry!” He winced, shaking his own face and hair dry. He threw his damp towel to the table and Scott followed. “My room is the farthest to the left down the hallway. Right around the corner.” He nodded his head toward the corner of the kitchen, and Scott walked up to it. “I’m gonna make tea, so you can make yourself at home. Scott did so, and inspected the house as he walked. The walls had family photos all over them, and degrees-- law degrees, he noticed-- but the family photos, with the occasional school picture only really showed until a year or so ago. Jimmy had rounder cheeks in the photos, and his hair was bright blond when he was a kid. Scott turned his head to see a piano pushed against the wall. He wondered who in the family played.
He imagined Jimmy sitting at the piano, hair tucked behind his ear. He imagined Jimmy would have some silly concentration face, like sticking his tongue out, with his eyebrows furrowed. Or maybe he looked effortless as he played, not even looking at his note sheet. His fingers would dance lightly across the piano, as if he’d played this song a million times before.
Scott shook his head and looked at the tv. Under it, on the bottom shelf of a stand were possibly a million movies. There was an extra cabinet for video games, and Scott only assumed there was a playstation or xbox hidden somewhere in this room. There was a glass coffee table that had various books and coasters on it. He looked closer at the stack of books, one of them titled “Constructs of Morality in Present-Day Ethics” and another called “Navigating Constitutional Law: Foundations and Challenges” that had visible dust on it. Clearly, neither of the kids were readers. Or at least neither of them were planning to play the same roles as their parents.
Scott finally made it to Jimmy’s room that was littered in posters on the walls and group photos with friends. He had a vase of LEGO flowers on top of some drawers. There were a few clothes on the floor, but for the most part the room was tidy. The bed was made, the bedside tables were clean, and there wasn’t a speck of dust. Scott decided, as a thank you for letting him crash here, he would pick up the clothes. He then dug into his backpack for his homework, and took out a binder and book. Out of the binder came a notebook, and he flipped to an empty page. Then the book opened, and he started scribbling numbers.
Jimmy stumbled into the room, extra blankets in hand, and an extra pillow. “You seem like the kind of princess to sleep with too many pillows and blankets, so here.” He tossed them to the corner of the bed, and Scott gratefully took the extra pillow. “Y’know, I’d be insulted you’d assume something like that about me, but I can't be. You’re entirely correct.”
“What are you- are you doing your geometry homework?” Scott looked up and nodded. “Well yeah. But I really don’t know how the hell this is congruent.” he turned the book around and pointed at a picture of two lines next to each other both labeled “10” on the side of them. “They mirror each other.” Jimmy mumbled, crawling into the bed and opening his phone. “Well when angles mirror each other apparently they're vertical.” Scott huffed. “Vertical lines can be congruent. Congruent just means equals the same. If both of the vertical angles have the same measurement, then they are congruent.”
There was a long beat of silence.
“What.”
——————————————————————
Scott woke up in the middle of the night extremely thirsty. They had both fallen asleep with the textbook and notebooks still open. He rolled out of bed and moved them first, before walking out into the hallway. The stench of weed immediately hit him, and he was nauseous. He stumbled out into the living room and there was Jimmy’s older sister, passed out on the couch with a reality TV show playing.
He slipped by her and looked for glasses in the kitchen, before filling it with tap water. He took a long chug before placing the empty glass in the sink and sneaking back into Jimmy’s room, but failing before he made it to the hallway. Lizzie was awake now, and paused her show. “Scott?” She sleepily murmured, sitting up now. “Why the hell are you in my house in the middle of the night?” He was absolutely stunned, and wished to sink into the floor. However, he was made of solid materials, and couldn’t. “I’m too high for this. You might as well either be Jimmy, or not real. Scott or not, I’ll see you in the morning.” she then promptly turned off the tv and hobbled to her bedroom to crash. Scott watched her walk past him, and then found his way back to Jimmy’s room, successfully this time.
He’d deal with whatever that was in the morning.

Chapter Text
He did, in fact, deal with it in the morning. When he woke up, he was sprawled across the bed and he prayed he hadn’t been like that for long. He was all alone in the room, and assumed Jimmy was either making breakfast or in the bathroom. He walked in then, and gave Scott a good stare. “You okay? You look a little lost.” He laughed, getting clothes out of his drawer. “Don’t worry, you haven’t been like that for long.”
How the hell did Jimmy know that’s what he was worrying about?
“I woke up an hour or so ago. Spent thirty minutes in the shower after Lizzie got out. You immediately took the rest of the bed when I got out. I’ve got another hour until we have to leave, so whenever you get dressed I might as well get back in bed. You can borrow one of my outfits. That should be fine, right?”
Scott nodded quickly. “Yeah. That’s fine.” He would have worn yesterday's outfit, except for the fact he had just slept in it. He hopped out of bed, and Jimmy hopped right in, taking his place. “I can take a shower in the bathroom, yeah?” Scott mumbled, searching for something to wear that couldn’t be a favorite shirt or pants. “Feel free. Towels are under the sink.”
He found a basic white tee shirt and jeans to go with it. He also made note to find a pair of socks, because his most definitely stank. When he saw Lizzie in the kitchen, she nearly dropped her spoon of cereal. “Holy shit you were real? I thought I had a dream you were in my house. You were actually here?” She grumbled through her sleep, shocked. “Yeah, sorry. I had an emergency sleepover with Jimmy last night due to the rain.” He meekly took a step in the bathroom before she just kept talking. “Oh yeah. He did mention hanging out with you, didn’t he? Well go shower or whatever. I can smell you from here.” He couldn’t get in the shower quicker.
----------------------------------------
Jimmy was making the bed when Scott walked back into the room, now dressed in clean clothes. Even though Jimmy didn’t mention it, he noticed Scott giggling at his phone. Scott looked up from it just long enough to grab his backpack. “Thanks for letting me crash. I’ll get you your clothes back tomorrow. I left my number on the fridge. My boyfriend is picking me up.” Jimmy nodded and said his goodbye. He noticed how Scott said ‘my boyfriend’ as if everyone didn’t know who Milo was, let alone them all being in the same grade. Scott had chemistry with Milo. He knew him well. Hell, he sat next to Milo.
Grian came to pick up Jimmy at his exact time. 7:52. Only twice was he late: once because he got hit by a car, and the second because he got hit by a car-- again. Grian was never late. Either he was early, on time, or let Jimmy know he wouldn’t show up at all.
Jimmy ran out to greet him, both of them setting a pace for the walk. “I guess we should pick up Joel, since he was so upset about it yesterday.” But when they came to pick up Joel, his mom told them he was long gone. Said he left really early for school. They thanked her anyway, and went back on with their walk. “I have no idea why he’s so pissed. Is it all because I ran out two days ago?” Jimmy asked, more annoyed than concerned at all. Grian looked up at the sky, as if it would give him the answers.
“I have no idea. But he seemed even more pissed when he saw you leaving with Scott. He didn’t even let me walk him home. Just stormed off all puffy.” He said, hands entering his pockets. “I have no idea why he has such a stick up his ass this week.” Jimmy let out a puff of a laugh at the comment, checking his phone. “Well if he wanted to say something, he would. And he hasn’t. At least not including that freak out he had yesterday morning about me not wanting to talk to him. I still don’t know why he took it so personally.”
“There’s definitely something else going on. No other reason he’d be so angry all the time.” Grian’s voice lowered to a hush as they got to the school’s entrance, Joel still nowhere to be seen. The doors opened, and they rushed in along with thirty other students or so.
They piled into the AV classroom, and Jimmy started booting up all the cameras and microphones. If he’s here early, might as well make himself useful.
Rasbi was the next to enter the room, slinging her backpack in the corner and moving to turn on everything just to realize Jimmy already had. “Hey. You beat me to it.” She looked at him with a smile, opening her phone with her new found down time. “Jimmy, Grian. Do either of you guys know anyone who can fix cameras? One of ours is busted. It’s not focusing correctly and I put a poster up but no one’s sent me any messages or talked to me about it.”
The boys looked between each other before shrugging and shaking their heads. “Sorry, Rasbi. If I remember anyone, I’ll shoot you a message.” Jimmy suggested, and she suddenly jumped up. Her face lit like she had remembered something. “Oeca knows!” She then grabbed her backpack and before making her way out of the door, turned and leaned on the frame. “Jimmy, you’re in charge if I don’t make it back in time. And I probably won’t! You know what to do, thanks!” Before Jimmy had a chance to respond, she was out the door.
Shelby walked in, wordlessly pointed to Rasbi, and dropped her bag. “She suddenly remembered who could fix our camera issue.” He answered her unasked question, and she nodded with a “ohhhh! I didn’t think that thing would ever get fixed.” she remarked, walking up to her sound keyboard. (I’m not a nerd idk how sound works)
“I don’t think it’s a definite yes,” Katherine mentioned, making herself known as she walked in. “Maybe more of her wishful thinking. You know how she always hopes for the best…. We are talking about Rasbi… right?” Katherine finished, and everyone nodded. She took a seat in her own spot.
Just then Joey walked in and pointed behind him with his thumb. “Watch out” he mouthed as his backpack was slung to the ground and he took his own seat. A few seconds later, Joel stormed in, and might as well have thrown his own backpack. The room seemed to all hold their breath. He looked around to see everyone staring at him and threw his hands up. “What!” He yelled, and everyone was suddenly very focused on whatever was in front of them.
Footsteps rushed into the room, a whiz of red and white, which belonged to Rasbi, who was excusing herself and grabbing the broken camera before exiting again.
The bell rang, and the live stream started up.
“Good morning Chromia students! My name is Katherine Elizabeth,” Katherine started, “and my name is Joey Graceffa.” Joey finished. “Today’s weather is a warm 70 degrees with cooler winds and light rain near noon.” Katherine spouted, reading off what she saw on the teleprompter in front of her. “Todays lunch is pizza and salad. I’m a big fan of pizza myself.” Joey added. “School announcements wise, we have a soccer game at seven playing anamalia! This will be an away game.” She elbowed Joey, and he started to read his part. “Our school is hosting a can drive to support those who need a bit of extra help. All proceeds will go to local homeless shelters in the city and here in chromia. You can donate your cans by this Friday to Mr. Stewart’s room.” Joey took a deep breath and Katherine finished it off for him. “Thank you for tuning in to the morning announcements, provided to you by the AV club! Go llamas!”
The cameras cut and suddenly everyone was rushing out. Jimmy passed by Rasbi in the hallway, who seemed to be glowing. He assumed she had found someone to fix that camera.
When Jimmy took his seat in math later that day, Tango wouldn’t make eye contact with him. During work time, Jimmy finally faced Tango and stared him down. “What’s your problem, dude? You’ve been ignoring me all hour and I don’t know why.” There was a beat of silence while Tango thought over his words. “Scott Denholm, huh?”
Jimmy was stunned, searching for words. “Huh?” Is all he could get out. Tango shrugged and went to his work. “I’m just saying. You were judging me for my friends the other day. But I’m not the one hanging out with the school slut.” He finished his sentence quiet, and Jimmy gasped, quickly covering his mouth. That was so unbelievably out of character for Tango he just stared at him for a moment. “What the fuck? What’s wrong with you, man? Is this because I didn’t want you hanging out with my sister and her stoners?” Jimmy asked, still appalled.
“Yeah, Jimmy. It is. I don’t judge you for any of your friends. But suddenly I have a new group of guys and it’s wrong? They’re good people. They just smoke and drink. But so did we!” Tango was still trying to keep his voice down, though one or two people had turned their heads. Only for a moment though.
The bell stopped Jimmy from saying anything, especially with how quickly Tango was out the door. They usually walked to their next classes together?
Jimmy opened his locker, his eyes lingering on the photos of his friends in his door. A photo of him and Tango drunk as skunks smiling and toasting with bottles of beer was in the top right corner. Jimmy forced himself to look away and grab his book and binder for his next class: Chemistry.
As Jimmy sat down, Scott and Milo both entered the room. Milo set his things down and gave Scott a quick kiss before pushing him out of the room. Before Scott could leave though, he gave a wave and smile to Jimmy before rushing out the door.
Throughout the hour, Jimmy could feel Milo’s eyes on him. He assumed Scott had told him all about the evening before. Jimmy didn’t pay the staring much mind, more attentive to the lesson on the whiteboard. Ms. Olencheck was going to be the death of him. Something about element equation balancing just didn’t make sense and she wasn’t doing a very good job of fixing that.
Finally, after the long ass school day, it was time for rehearsal. Jimmy was one of the last people to walk in, and the seats were still in a circle. He guessed they were finishing the cold read from the other day.
Rasbi was talking to her cousin, Oeca, when she spun around and waved to Jimmy. He waved back sheepishly, and took his seat where he sat yesterday. Tango still sat across from him, though he had a permanent scowl on his face. Scott was near his seat, talking to Shelby who seemed very excited to show him something on her phone. Noticing Jimmy, she said goodbye to Scott and ran over to Jimmy.
“Jimmy! I need your opinion on something, and I don’t trust any straight men with it.” She swiped on her phone and then flipped it so he could see a dress on the screen. “I’m looking for a homecoming dress. I’m thinking either this yellow one,” she swiped the screen revealing a white dress. “Or this white one. I like the flowers on the yellow one but the white one is a nicer material.”
Jimmy thought for a moment, before finally deciding. “The floral yellow one. I think it suits you more. It has a fun spring vibe to it and I think it’s more you than the white one is. The white one is more basic white girl and you are far from basic.” Her face lit up at this, and she bounced on her heels. “Aww you’re so sweet. Scott said the same thing! About the dress choice, not about the personality. Thank you!” She made her way back to her seat, and he called a “you’re welcome!” After her.
Rasbi called the club to a start, and the room fell into a hush of people sitting in their seats. They picked up where they had left off the day before.
When they were done, Rasbi announced they would be working on character dynamics the next day and everyone dispersed. Scott met up with a friend Jimmy didn’t recognize, but he didn’t leave before giving Jimmy a wave and mouthing a goodbye.
Scott didn’t even know who Jimmy was two days ago. One hang out and suddenly they’re close enough to say hi to each other in the hallway? But Scott was popular. This is probably what he did with everyone. That was until Magic walked up to Jimmy, watching Scott leave. “Funny. He never waves to me. Lucky duck.” And then she was gone as soon as she had appeared. By the time Jimmy turned around to acknowledge her, the door was swinging behind her.
Jimmy found his way to Lizzie and her friends; who for once did not reek of weed. He walked home with them, and let Grian deal with Joel. Grian always knew how to deal with Joel. It was like a super secret talent. A handy one at that.
On his walk home with Lizzie, he opened his messages with Tango.
Tango🔥
Hey dude, sorry I was an ass. I feel like shit about it. I shouldn’t have judged you for who you hang out with. It’s none of my business.
Me
That’s okay man. I was an asshole too today. And the other day. Sorry I talked shit about my sister and her friends. If they’re nice to you, that’s all that matters
Tango🔥
And I’m sorry I called your friend the school slut. That wasn’t cool of me. I was just pissed
Me
All good. Glad we could work this out. See you tomorrow dude
Tango🔥
