Chapter Text

I appeared back in my realm, clutching my gut with a hand over my mouth to stop the bile in my throat from coming out.

I knelt in the grass, in a field full of flowers, trying to ground myself.

After 14 long years, I've finally seen my baby boy again, and he bore my own mark of servitude.

I swore I'd never let anyone else get that mark, yet here we are. My baby has that stupid crow mark on his wrist, just like his father.

Why did Phil have to do this? He knew I didn't want anyone else to get that mark. He knows it means that Alexis is in my servitude until his death. He knows that If need be, I would have to make my baby immortal just like him.

Oh XD, my poor darling baby.

I know Phil doesn't know about Alex being Quackity, but it pains me to know what's happened.

My poor boys.

All of my lovely boys, they've all grown so much. I've missed them with all of my being. I wish with all of my heart that I could be with them again.

But it was never meant to be.

Everyone was staring at him. I mean, I guess that makes sense. The goddess of death did just say he was the key to finding Phil's son, and Tommy, Will, and Techno's brother.

"Quackity, do you know anything about that?" Techno asked me, calmly. (Dumbledore said calmly.)

"Not at all," I mumbled.

Techno nodded in understanding.

"Let's all sit down and take a moment for ourselves." Phil suggested, carefully hiding the shine that was coming to his eyes.

"Yeah, sounds good." Wilbur agreed.

The four of us all went to different corners of the small house. Phil went upstairs, Wilbur went outside, Techno went to the kitchen, and Tommy stayed in the front room.

I decided it would be best to leave Tommy alone, but as I began to leave, he grabbed my arm.

"Big Q," he murmured. "Can you please stay?"

My eyes and heart softened as I looked at the boy with tears in his eyes.

"Of course, Toms."

I sat down beside him and the second I did he wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my chest.

I ran one hand through Tommy's hair and rubbed his back with the other as he sobbed.

"Shh, shh. It's okay. I've got you. Let it all out, Toms."

And he did.

It took a bit, but Tommy's tears slowed to a stop, and his gasps for air became nothing more than small hiccups.

"I want my mom to be here," he admitted.

Now, Tommy never talks about his mom. I've heard very few things. All I know is that she left on okay terms when Tommy was a baby, and they haven't seen her more than 3 times after that.

Meaning, hopefully whatever I say won't be taken the wrong way.

"I'm sorry, Tommy. Maybe you'll see her sometime?"

"I doubt it. Mom has never stayed around." Tommy mumbled as he hid his face in my shirt.

I rubbed Tommy's back, watching out for his crimson wings. "Try not to think about it. I'm sure she wishes she could be here with you. You're an amazing kid, Toms."

"Thanks, Big Q. I just-" Tommy sighed as he wrapped his arms around me, and he curled closer to my chest. "I wish she cared enough to stay."

"I bet she cares about you, but sometimes parents can't stay around. What really matters is that you have your dad, and you have your brothers with you."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I wish I knew more about my mom, though." Tommy mumbled.

"I get that. Maybe one day you will. But until then, we're here for you."

Tommy squeezed me tight and I returned the gesture. "Thanks, Q." "No problem, Toms."

About a half hour later, everyone had come back into the living room. Tommy stayed at my side on the couch, clutching onto my shirt like a little kid trying not to get lost at the market. Techno sat in his regular rocking chair to my right, Wilbur sat on a stool in the corner, and Philza sat in front of the four of us as his eyes bore into my soul.

"So," Phil started. "I'm guessing everyone has some questions?"

Everyone but Tommy glanced around the room at the others, all of us slightly nodding at Phil's assumption.

"So, who wants to go first?" Phil asked the room.

"Why did the goddess speak so kindly to all of you?" I asked. "It seems a little suspicious that she'd be so loving to some random followers of hers."

Phil winced as he hesitated. "Well, uh-"

"She's our mum." Tommy spat and the others in the room grimaced.

"What?!"

Phil twiddled his thumbs, avoiding eye contact with me. "It's true, Mate."

This is so fucking unreal. I've got to be in some twisted nightmare.

"A long time ago, I became a servant to Kristin. After a while, she became interested in me and, well, she granted me immortality. We dated for a while, then we got married.

Kristen was always so interested in life, being the goddess of death and all. So, soon we created lives of our own. We got the twins, then we were blessed with Alexis, and a little later Tommy was given to us too."

Tommy tugged on my shirt and without any thought I pulled him close and wrapped an arm around his back.

"We lived together for a while, then Kristin left and took Alexis with her. Techno and I found Kristin two years later, but she had already sent Alexis away. She told us he'd be with us very soon, but we never found him."

Phil wiped a tear from his eye, while Techno and Wilbur stared at each other with a look akin to sadness.

"Kristin hasn't had much contact with us since, but she did say when we found Alexis she'd be able to see us again. She said it would be too dangerous to stay otherwise."

"Wow. That is not what I expected."

Phil let out a pained laugh. "Yes, I suppose not many people can say that they've found themselves in a similar situation."

"Okay, my question now." Wilbur spoke up. "Why the hell did mom say you are the key to finding Alexis? Do you know where he is?"

I shook my head. "No, I don't. I'm not sure why I'd be the only one able to find him, it's not like I've ever met him before."

"So we'll just have to keep looking," Techno said. "If mom thinks we'll be able to find Alexis, that means we are close. We just have to keep searching with Quackity's help."

"I agree." Phil said, "she wouldn't give us false information. Alexis is her son too."

Wilbur nodded along with Phil.

"Why was mom so upset that you pledged Quackity to her?" Tommy asked from his place beside me.

"I'm honestly not sure," Phil replied. "You three already know that I have been pledged to your mother for centuries, but since Quackity is here, I suppose I'll reiterate.

Since I pledged my service as a warrior to your mother, I've had a mark not unlike Quackity's. It wasn't uncommon back then for most people to have one mark of servitude or another to some type of deity, but your mother did not like the things that she would have to put us through. She did not like the wars or the bloodshed. So, she vowed to stop taking people's pledges with very few exceptions.

This time was an exception. I prayed to her, asking that she'd except Quackity. I thought she had made peace with it when Quackity got the crow mark, but apparently I was wrong. I didn't think she'd be that upset over it, though."

"She won't hurt me though, right?"

"Nah," Wilbur replied. "If she hurts anyone, it's going to be Dad."

"Is that a joke?" I asked, somewhat tentatively.

"No. Mom loves him, but if she gets really upset, she might trap him in a snowstorm." Techno said, completely nonchalantly.

"Oh."

"Don't worry, though," Techno said. "Dad's pretty much immortal, he won't die. He'll just be really fucking cold." He finished, with a hint of amusement.

Phil rolled his eyes at Techno. "Is that it then?"

"Um, I have one more question."

"What is it, Quackity?"

"Can she take the forms of other people?" I asked, wincing at the confused looks from those around me.

"Yes, she can." Phil told me. "Why do you ask?

"No reason, just wondering."

She looks like mom.

Phil gave me a strange look that almost remained me of worry. "Okay then, mate. Just tell me if there is anything bothering you."

"Will do."

"Okay, it's getting late." Techno announced. "Time for all of you to get to bed."

"Techno is right, I should be headed out too."

I started to get up, but Techno pushed be back down on the couch, luckily not waking up Tommy who was apparently out cold and laying on top of me.

Phil must have noticed that we were going to take a while, because instead of staying he just went upstairs to his room.

"Nope, you're included in that too, Quackity. We're not letting you fly home in the dark." Techno told me.

"What? But-"

"No buts allowed," he said, cutting me off. "Besides, Tommy is already using you as a pillow, and we don't want to wake him up now, do we?"

Fuck.

"Fine," I grumbled. "I'll stay."

Techno smirked. "Good. Oh, and before I forget, this time you're staying for breakfast. No leaving first thing in the morning like last time, you almost gave Phil a heart attack."

I groaned to show Techno just how much I didn't want to stay. "But I'm supposed to be meeting up with Sam tomorrow."

"Tell him you're going to be late then." Techno suggest. "You're staying here, and you're going to eat a real meal."

"Fine," I grumbled.

"Excellent." Techno pulled a blanket over Tommy and me as Wilbur headed upstairs. "Sleep well."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever."

Techno snickered and went to his room, leaving Tommy and me in the dimly lit living room.

I brushed Tommy's hair out of his face, playing with his curly golden locks until my eyes grew tired.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
