Chapter Text
Prompt: Holding Hands (Cinco x Dos)
Cw: slight homophobia, because you know Malaysia
It wasn’t forbidden to hold hands between women.
In a heteronormative country, they wouldn’t think of two women being anything other than what they were taught to see.
So when Cinco took Dos’ hand to observe the injury inflicted by M.A.T.A.’s weapon, and her thumb rested a bit too long, she was told to be less dramatic .
When Uno reprimanded Cinco, and Dos took her hand to speak up about his mistreatment, Dos was told there was no use in protecting her teammate .
When Nueve walked in on them sitting on the couch and intertwining their fingers, Cinco was told to stop playing with her friend’s hand and help him in the lab.
When Cinco treated Dos’ training wound and extensively assured her palm’s nerve integrity, she was told not to worry so much.
When Cinco stabilized Dos’ wrist for fine-tuning the plasma blade, Trez mocked that she could hold her arm up on her own .
When Dos pulled Cinco’s hand into her room, Siete shouted at them to quit gossiping all the time.
When Dos saved the tech nerd from an exploding weapon by grabbing her wrist, Uno criticized the hugging women for not being careful .
But it wasn’t just hand-holding that went over the boys’ heads. It was looks that were a bit too long, hugs that were a bit too tight, and conversations that were a bit too secret.
They didn’t notice because they never saw it as an option. Because women always were affectionate, they loved girl talk and snuggling each other. No one batted an eye when they shared food, bought the other’s favorite drink, or corrected their makeup.
That was what girls did.
But they also loved kissing and pinning each other against the wall. Listen to breaths and heartbeats, and feel little goosebumps on skin.
Stealing love in the comfort of seclusion or in the thrill of the public. .
Yet no one would ever know.
