The Universe is So Much Bigger Than You Realize

Summary:

Throwing my hat into the ring of creating some one-shots for JanAUry '24.

Chapter 1: Marty, you may be Atypical (Lighting Powers AU)

Notes:

I have to include Where I read more about BTTF-dork's Lighting Powers AU and saw that Marty's time travel powers activated when he had high emotions, like anxious feelings. Well because I am working on a crossover with the podcast The Bright Sessions. I remembered that there is one character who does time travel and is activated when she gets really anxious or has a panic attack.
Samantha "Sam" Barnes! Quick background for people. Sam time travels when she has extreme anxiety or panic attacks, or it sometimes happens at random. Now all with her ability, she is essentially a ghost. No one sees her and she doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep when she time travels.

However, with the crossover I am working on. Marty and Doc can see her if she is at a time in the past that they are at too. I'm doing hand waving and say because of them always by the flux capacitor or *in Snoop Dogg voice* 'Time traveler recognizes time traveler'. Also in this crossover I am working on Marty is going to the same therapist Sam goes to.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“-ar-y! M-rt-! Marty!”

Marty groaned as the voice finally came in clear saying his name. Marty squinted his eyes open and saw a young woman in her twenties with brown hair and glasses staring down at him.

“S-Sam?” Marty asked as he sat up and held his head in his hand. “I’m going to ask when I am, cause I swear this happens way too much with me waking up from passing out in a different time.”

“1930s, Prohibition. We are still in Hill Valley,” Sam told him. “I moved you in an alley so people don’t see you talking to yourself.”

“Thanks Sam,” Marty moves to lean up against the wall. “Umm, do you know the exact date?” He asked while rubbing the back of his neck.

“When I last checked a newspaper it was November 3rd, 1931,” Sam said sitting next to Marty, “And that was two days ago. So November 5th, 1931.”

Marty covers his face with his hands and drags them down. “It is always the first two weeks of November,” he mumbles, then sighs. “At least this is after the Expo so Emmett won’t be too confused to see me.”

“Emmett? Is that Doctor Brown?” Sam asked.

“Yeah, he is eighteen in 1931. He doesn’t know about time travel yet, but we are still friends.”

“That is really neat that no matter what time, you and Doctor Brown will be friends,” Sam said as she shared a smile with Marty. She frowned and asked, “Marty, how exactly did you get here?”

Marty frowned and looked down, “I don’t know. Last thing I remembered is that my mom and dad were asking me a lot of questions about my ‘memory gaps’ as I was getting breakfast and I was freaking out. I went to my room, cause I figured I was having a panic attack. I felt an electric charge around me, then I was in the square and I passed out.”

Sam’s brows were furrowed in confusion. “From what you explained, minus the electric charge, that sounds a whole lot like how when I time travel,” Sam spoke to him.

“What?” Marty looked at her confusion written on his face.

“Well you know I technically don’t need a machine to help me travel?” Sam looked at Marty waiting for his nod of understanding. She continued, “Well when I get really anxious or get real panicky, my ability activates. I know I can’t control when and where I go, but I will still travel in time when my anxiety flares up.”

“Marty,” Sam spoke as Marty locked eyes with her, “Do you think it is possible you became atypical too? Because you didn’t come here with the DeLorean, it was just you, no machine.”

“I-I don’t know,” Marty thumps his head back on the wall. “This is just perfect. Let’s add one more thing besides me going to therapy and bringing up all my trauma.”

“At least you are already seeing Dr. Bright and she can give you strategies to help with your new ability,” Sam tried to help.

“Yeah,” Marty mumbled. Then his stomach growled, “Oh yeah I forgot I didn’t eat yet.”

“Well looks like your ability isn’t exactly like mine,” Sam chuckled.

“Yeah yeah, rub it in that when you travel you have the luxury of not needing to eat and sleep!” Marty snarked at her. Marty got up, “Do you mind staying with me as I go to find Emmett? He may be able to help me.”

“Of course,” Sam gets up too. “Just be careful talking to me.”

“Yeah,” Marty said rubbing his neck, “The people in this time already think I’m weird, let’s not add talking to myself on top of it.”

The two walked out of the alleyway. Marty was glad that he has at least one person who kind of knows what is going on with him now.

Chapter 2: One More Month (Martin AU)

Notes:

Today was suppose to be Fast and Furious AU, but I don't know anything about that except fast cars and family is important. So I went with the alternate prompt of Martin AU.

For those who don't know, Martin AU is basically how Marty is like in Citizen Valley timeline. Citizen Valley is the nickname we give to chapter 3 of the game, where Hill Valley is like a police state/big brother is always watching. The bits we get with Marty interacting with the other characters is that 'Martin' is like the perfect student/son/citizen. Almost like the opposite of the Marty McFly everyone knows.

Not one person has a claim on this AU and this is my idea of how Martin is like.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Remember to keep your head down. Always be the perfect citizen. Just one more month and you can leave like Dave and Linda.

“Do you have everything ready for you math camp son?” George asked through the intercom by Martin’s door.

Martin bit his lip thinking, ‘Of course you won’t step away from your monitors to check.’

“Yes dad. I have everything packed. I just need to wait for my ride out to the campgrounds,” Martin replied back.

“I still don’t know about you going to the unmonitored area Martin,” George responded back.

“Dad, I did all the research. We will be fine,” Martin said, “Besides, don't you trust me dad?”

George sighs through the intercom, “You are right son. I do trust you. You are such a model citizen, almost rivaling First Citizen Brown!”

Martin bit the inside of his mouth, “Umhm.” Martin knows that what his dad was saying is a compliment, but it isn’t to be a model citizen, it is for survival. Martin is so terrified about the new Citizen Plus program. So much, he gave up the little happiness he had. He gave up his guitar and Jennifer.

One more month. Pray Jennifer keeps out of trouble enough so you can help her get out too.

“Have fun son. Looks like your ride is almost here,” George said to Martin.

“Thanks dad,” Martin said, picking up his bag. “See you in a week.”

Martin walks from his room to the living room to wait for Paul, Bobby, and Lee. Martin sees his mom sitting on the couch in the living room.

“I hope you have fun sweetie,” Lorraine spoke up as she walked over to her son. “I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too, ma,” Martin goes to hug his mom. This is what he will miss in a month, maybe he can get Dave and Linda to help him get mom out. Martin takes a deep breath in, and smells it.

He hugs his mom closer and whispers, “Ma make sure you spray some perfume, I can smell the liquor.”

Lorraine whispers back, “Thanks for the heads up.” She breaks the hug and says louder, “I love you.”

“I love you too, ma,” Martin returns. The two see a car pull up the driveway. The very rare car that is only allowed for far trips. “That is my ride. I’ll see you in a week. Bye ma!”

“Bye sweetie,” Lorraine says as Martin leaves the house.

Martin greets his friends as he loads his bags in the car. He gets in. The four casually chat with each other talking about their math camp that they are going to. Most of their conversations seemed almost like small talk, not a conversation between friends.

When the car started getting close to the heavily monitored outskirts, the boys stopped talking. Everyone seemed tense, they continued on.

Lee, who was driving, breathed out, “We are now pass the cameras. No big brother watching now.”

The others relaxed knowing that they are free for a week. Martin lets out a heavy breath, and Marty feels like he can breathe again.

Notes:

I'm going to use the end notes to rant about my struggles about finding the exact dates from the game and some from the movies, legit the only ones I know at the top of my head is Oct 21 (when they go to 2015), Nov 5 (Doc hits his head/Marty going to 1955), Nov 12 (the lighting strike/Enchantment Under the Sea/Marty goes back to 1985), Marty's birthday, George's birthday (I forget the year), and George's death in Hell Valley timeline. Also my main rant about Marty's age in the game.

So I was always confused with the alreadying confusing timeline with the extended universe of BTTF. Legit I was looking it up and with all the time jumps there are like almost a 100 timelines!

Enough about that, time for me to pull out the string and corkboard. So I was always confused about the game when I first played it. It starts on May 15, 1986, they say Marty is eighteen. I’m thinking, “That isn’t how birthdays/years work.” Because we know in the movies it is October 26, 1985 when Marty goes back and he is seventeen. We know his birthday is June 12, 1968. So he turns seventeen about four months before he time traveled. Now he would still be seventeen, because May 15 is just short of seven months. Marty won’t turn eighteen until June 1986, he needs one more month to go. Now biological, yes he may be a couple days from being eighteen, assuming that with the week in 1955 the first time, the almost week in 1885, who knows how long in 1955 the second time, and the few days with 2015 and Hell Valley. I always go with three weeks, but no one but Doc and Marty officially knows this, possibly Clara and Jennifer because Doc and Marty tell them.

Chapter 3: Aliens are protective (Alien Doc AU)

Notes:

Alien Doc AU belongs to Alexafan

Chapter Text

“Doc! We are not using the alien death ray!” Marty never thought in his life he would say that or turn down a chance to use an alien death ray.

“Why not?” Doc turned to look at Marty holding the said death ray.

“I think everyone would automatically connect the dots that it is the eccentric scientist who lives outside of town is the one who made someone ‘disappear’,” Marty persuaded.

“Marty,” Doc turned to look at his friend, “Honestly most people won’t say I’m eccentric, they would say crazy or insane.”

“Well sorry I don’t want to call my friend insane!” Marty snarked to his friend.

“Martin is right, father,” Jules spoke up from the couch. “People will connect the dots, especially for the fact the person who will ‘disappear’ is the one who was bullying your sons.”

“Though he deserves it,” Verne mumbled next to Jules with his arms crossed pouting.

“That is two votes for!” Doc said, “and because I’m the parent of you three-“

“When did you adopt Martin?!”

“I get two votes! So three against two, the alien death ray it is!” Doc exclaimed.

“YES!” Verne shouted.

Jules looked horrified. He knows how protective his father gets with them. However, his protectiveness is blinding him to possibly exposing him as an alien and him and Verne as half aliens. Jules looked over to Marty to see if he could possibly be able to convince the scientist to not do this. Jules felt a little bit of relief when he saw Marty have a smirk.

“Hey Doc,” Marty called. Doc turned to him with a ‘hmm?’ “I feel like this is something that can affect the whole family. Let’s get Clara.”

Jules let out a sigh of relief, his mother could stop this. ‘Martin truly does know my father well,’ Jules thought.

“No no I don’t think we should bother Clara,” Doc said. “I’m sure she will be fine with this plan because of the boys being bullied.”

“Do you really want to assume?” Marty asked. “Cause no offense Doc. If you are wrong, she will be even more mad at you. Trust me I made that mistake with Jennifer.”

“How many times have you made that mistake Martin?” Jules asked.

“Not the time Jules!” Marty hissed out. “So Doc I think you should get Clara to talk about this, or we can just forget about the alien death ray plan.”

Both Verne and Doc gave sad sighs and Doc put down the alien death ray. Both Marty and Jules gave sighs of relief.

“Martin, thank you,” Jules said as the other two moved into the kitchen. “I am a bit surprised you were on my side on this and not Verne’s.”

Marty sits next to Jules. “Verne was just thinking he was hurt and wanting to feel better right away. Then Doc going all Papa Bear. You think ahead and not jump in. I’m working on trying to do that now instead of going off my emotions.”

“It just seems you like Verne more than me,” Jules confessed looking down.

“I know me and Verne connect more with liking similar stuff and go with our emotions,” Marty told Jules. “I’m sorry that I made you feel that way, we need to hang out more, that is just the two of us. I do like you Jules, to me you are a mini Doc. And you know your father is my best friend and I enjoy hanging out with him.”

“Apparently father isn’t your best friend,” Jules softly smiled. “He is your father now.”

“Ah yes my surprised adoption,” Marty said. “Well we should plan a brother’s outing then?”

“I would like that,” Jules said. “I won’t disagree to have you be my big brother.”

“I’m honored to have you and Verne as my little brothers,” Marty said, giving Jules a side hug.

“Dad! Mom isn’t going to be happy that you are eating her silverware again!” The two heard Verne shout from the kitchen.

“Want to start our brother's hangout by going to the store to buy more silverware?” Marty asked, pulling out his truck keys.

“That may be the best idea,” Jules said, getting up. “Let’s go.”

Chapter 4: Coughing Fits (Medieval AU)

Notes:

Medieval AU by BG-Sparrow.

So I had to read the whole story BG had of this AU last night. Well when I got to the chapter of why Prince Martin calls Emmett Doc, I knew what I was going to write.

So enjoy!

Chapter Text

Cough, cough.

Everyone in the castle cringed when they heard the coughing of a child echo in the halls. Hearts of the people who work in the castle go out to King George and Queen Lorraine. For the coughing comes from their youngest, Prince Martin of the Hill.

The young prince has had this fever for almost a fortnight, everyone fears the worst if he does not recover soon. The royal family has had many medical advisors to come and see the boy, but none has been able to cure or even relieve Prince Martin of his pain. So the most the King and Queen can do is keep him comfortable and pray he will get better.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
King George quietly shut the door to his son’s room as he continued coughing. When he turned around he saw his Queen with tears in her eyes. He knows for a fact he is the same way. No parent ever wants to see their child suffer and even worse when they can’t offer anyway to help.
“George,” Queen Lorraine whispered, so as not to disturb her young son. “I am scared. I don’t want to lose him, he is so young.”
The King hugged his wife as she quietly sobbed. “I know my love. I don’t want to lose him.” He pulled her away but still held her. He looked her in the eye and said, “But Martin is a fighter. He has fought this for close to a fortnight. We have to keep the hope that he will be well.”
Queen Lorraine wiped her eyes, “You are right dear. If anyone can be strong it is him. Our son is stubborn.” She chuckled a bit, “Just like his mother.”
King George chuckled at this and gave his wife a kiss on the forehead. “We should also see Dave and Linda, they are probably wondering about their brother.”
“I’m not looking forward to another argument with Linda about seeing Martin,” the Queen said as they walked down the corridor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The coughing is worst now. Now everyone hears coughing and rattling breaths about the coughs. Prince Martin is nearing three weeks of this sickness. While the King and Queen kept hope, they are now losing that hope.

The King sent a notice for anyone who may have a cure to help the young prince, with a reward of their choosing. Of course they screened everyone who wanted to try, after all it was Baron Tannen who was the first into the gates with a ‘cure’. His reward request was the Queen’s hand, even though she was married to King George.

One evening an alchemist came to the King and Queen. The alchemist Emmett Brown, claimed that he has a remedy. He showed them his notes and testimonies of others, who had the same ailment as the prince, that were cured with the remedy.

The King and Queen took him to the Prince’s room. The closer they got the louder the coughs and wheezing breaths were heard. When the three walked into the door, the alchemist’s heart hurt seeing the poor boy.

Prince Martin was pale with dark circles under his eyes. There was sweat slicking his brown hair down. He looked like he was mostly asleep, but was tense and in pain with tear tracks down his face. Of course he kept coughing.

The alchemist got to work immediately to make his remedy. As soon as he was done he said, “Please sit him up right.”

The King went over to help his son sit up. The Prince whimpered at being moved. “Shhh, I know Martin,” the King comforted his son. “But we have something to help you. You need to drink it, understood?”

Prince Martin made a noise that was in the affirmative, and allowed the alchemist to pour the remedy in his mouth. The alchemist poured slowly so the boy could drink it without choking on it. When he finished drinking, the King laid him back down.

It seemed like only for a few moments, the Prince took a deep breath and was relaxed. He was sleeping peacefully with a cough every once and awhile. The King and Queen started crying knowing that their son was on a path of recovery.

“I need to give him more of the remedy for about a fortnight,” Emmett said to the Royals, “It is to make sure that he is fully recovered and he doesn’t come back down with the illness.”

“Thank you,” Queen Lorraine said. “You saved our son.”

“Yes,” King George agreed with his wife. “And as promised we offered any reward you wish.”

Emmett looked at the two and replied, “I didn’t do this for a reward. When I heard about what the Prince’s illness was like, I knew how to cure it and wanted to help.”

“How very noble of you,” the Queen said. “But we would still like to give you something for our gratitude.”

“Well I know I would like to settle down somewhere,” Emmett said to the two. “If you could help me find a place to live that has room for my alchemy practices would be most helpful.”

“I believe we have the perfect spot in the castle if you don’t mind to live here,” the King told the alchemist.

“I would be honored your Majesties,” Emmett said.

  ~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Emmett helped the Prince to recover, two things happened besides Prince Martin becoming well.
FIrst, the young boy thought that the alchemist was a doctor, because he cured him. So he started calling him Doc. Emmett, now Doc, didn’t want to correct the Prince and honestly enjoyed the new name.
Second, was when the Prince was allowed out of bed, he was always with ‘Doc’. If anyone needed to find the young prince, the best guess is to find the alchemist and you will find the boy. He was always fascinated with what the alchemist was doing, and started to have a friendship with his Doc that helped cure him.
Chapter 5: He had it comin' (Once Upon a Time in the West AU)
Notes:
Once Upon a Time in the West AU by BG-Sparrow time!
I'm going to be honest, I have just started reading her story and I hope I got this right. I saw frenemies Marty/Buford and a certain meme popped into my head.
Hope you enjoy and please read the original story BG wrote!
Chapter Text
Stubble stared in shock as he watched Eastwood storm out of the saloon. It is still so quick with what all transpired. Stubble heard Buford groan from his spot on the ground, he still had the glass all around him. Stubble knows Buford would be pissed at Eastwood when he wakes up. Honestly, Stubble thinks Buford deserved it and Eastwood had every right to do what he did. Stubble gave a sigh and thought how he is going to have to help keep Buford calm, cause if he doesn't Buford and Eastwood would kill each other.
One hour earlier
They all felt relief when they finally were able to go to a saloon with an inn after a long day riding. Even more so when tensions are high, and two members of the five men are one spark away from exploding.
The five men found a spot and were able to get food and of course drinking. Most people know when liquor is involved it is a double edge sword, it helped to remove the tension from three of the five, it only served to make the two ticking time bombs to get worse.
Almost an hour after receiving their drinks is when the arguments started. The others knew that Buford Tannen and Clint Eastwood had an unusual relationship. They would show comradery with disdain lying underneath. So the rest of the gang thought nothing of it when they started arguing, just another day with these two. Stubble was the one who noticed the turn and was about ready to stop Buford. The idiot mentioned about the blacksmith’s family. Eastwood reached for the bottle he was drinking from, the others just thought he was going to take a drink before he rips into Buford.
As Stubble was going to call out Buford, he stared in shock as he realized Eastwood’s thumb was turned down as he grabbed the bottle. He went to shout about it when Buford said, “Good thing ya left, you might have killed more of the blacksmith’s kids.”
Next thing everyone knew, Eastwood slammed the bottle he grabbed over Buford’s head. Then as Buford fell unconscious, Eastwood stormed out of the saloon with the doors swinging back and forth like crazy.
The saloon was dead quiet. Then just as sudden the other patrons of the saloon continued on.
“If Buford doesn’t remember what was said or what happened, we ain’t going to tell him,” Stubble told the other two. They nodded in agreement. They knew is no one brought it up, Eastwood would pretend that nothing happened.
“What about Eastwood?” Ceegar asked. “Should we go get him?”
“Nah,” Stubble shook his head. “He ain’t going to want any of us around him.”
The three knew Eastwood shouldn’t have done that, but Buford deserved it and he had it comin’.
Chapter Text
“Hey Doc,” Marty hears Jennifer talking to Doc, as she comes in from his room. It is still weird to him that Jennifer is now calling Doc, Doc and not Doctor Brown. ‘ I guess they really did get closer after I disappeared,’ Marty thought.
“How is Marty doing?” He can’t help but flinch at her question. ‘Not good Jen, not good at all.’ Marty thinks to himself.
Marty hears Doc let out a big sigh. “He is still having a hard time adjusting to his condition.” ‘Condition is putting it mildly, Doc,’ Marty snarks in his head.
Marty knows they are really worried about him since he ‘woke’ up two days ago, and he doesn’t want them to worry. However, he can’t stand those sad looks when they look at him, hell he can barely stand to look at himself. As he thought this, Marty raised his right arm to look at it. What should have been a human hand, is now nothing but bone.
Marty sighs as he lowers his arm. ‘Why did I have to get bitten in the first place?’ Marty thought sadly. He is grateful that Doc found a cure so he wouldn’t be a mindless zombie, but he is still a monster.
‘Maybe it would have been better for Doc to just shot me when he found me again.’ Marty shook his head at that thought, he knew his friend would never want to shoot him. If the roles were reversed, Marty knows he would never be able to shoot Doc, he knows Doc is the same.
“Marty,” Doc said, knocking on the door. “Jennifer is here, do you want to come out?”
Not really. I don’t want you two to see how much of a monster I am. Marty sighs, “Yeah. Just hold on a minute.” Marty looked for some things to cover the worst of it up for them. Mostly a jacket to cover most of his arm, and a scarf to help hide his exposed jaw.
Marty opened the door and walked over to the two of them. He saw their sad looks when they saw them. Marty really hates the looks they give him, not because they feel sad for him, but because he is the one making them sad. I really am a monster.
“Marty!” Jennifer was the first one to try to smile, Marty was shocked that she came up and hugged him. “Sorry I haven’t been here as often as I should.”
“It’s fine Jennifer,” Marty said, hugging her back. God he missed holding her so much. “I’ve been mostly in my room.”
Doc came up and put a hand on Marty’s shoulder, “Please don’t feel like you have to lock yourself away.” Marty just raised an eyebrow at Doc. “You know I mean lock yourself away from the rest of the house.”
“I was going to say you know it is not a good idea for me to leave the house when I’m basically a monster,” Marty said, half joking and half serious.
“You aren’t a monster, Marty,” Jennifer said looking at him as Doc nodded in agreement.
“YES I AM!” Marty shouted, pulling away from the two of them. He pulled down the scarf to show his exposed jaw bone and the exposed part of his neck. “Normal humans don’t look like this! The only difference between me and other zombies is I’m not attacking anyone!”
“And that is all that is needed to prove you aren’t a monster!” Doc shouted back. “You aren’t attacking anyone. Yes, you still look undead, but you are acting and behaving like a ‘normal human’.”
Marty hung his head. “You are the doc, Doc,” Marty whispered. “But it still doesn’t change that I look like a monster.”
“That is the part I’m still confused with,” Doc mumbled.
“Huh?” Both Marty and Jennifer questioned the scientist.
“When I made the cure for you it was to completely cure you, essentially healing you completely,” Doc said. “I remember how scared you were at the idea of if you were stuck in 1955, you couldn’t leave the house or do anything. I knew if you weren’t cured all the way it would be the same.”
“Wait a minute,” Marty said. “Are you saying that I should start to heal?”
“Yes,” Doc responded. “That is the other reason I wanted you to come out, so I can check on your healing.”
Marty let Doc examine him as Jennifer sat next to him and held his left hand. “Well good news it is working. Your neck is starting to heal more than other parts and I do hear a faint heartbeat. I just don’t know how long until you are fully healed.”
Jennifer hugged Marty again with tears in her eyes and Marty felt like he could cry along with her in happiness.
Notes:
Did I hit that Marty is going through a situation like in the movie Warm Bodies? Yes, yes I did.
Also if it doesn't seem realistic that Doc made a cure that would heal Marty into being alive. Well the man invented time travel, I believe that he could do it. Doc is like the fandom's Deus Ex Machina when it comes to creating something, okay.
Chapter 7: I wanna be where the people are (MerMarty AU)
Notes:
MerMarty AU by itsthemorph
I am a huge sucker for mermaid aus! Could be because I have always loved water (points to my username). So I was looking up at their AU and I saw they first thought to have Doc be a merman, but went to shore, then Marty follows. But they scraped the idea cause it sounded to much like Luca.
Well I also love the movie Aquamarine, and wanted Marty to be able to get on land. So I used that mechanics, hope that is cool with you morph!
Enjoy!
Chapter Text
“Hey Doc?”
“Hmmm?”
“Can you take me to see the human village?”
Emmett, or as the merman in the water calls him ‘Doc’, whips his head to look at the merman, Marty. “What?”
“Can. You. Take. Me. To. See. The. Hu-man. Vill-age?” Marty repeated very slowly, he knows Doc knows what he said, but Marty likes to tease Doc.
“I heard you Marty,” Doc said. “But I think you are forgetting a very important fact about you, and why it would be hard to see the human village.”
“Is it because I don’t have clothes?” Marty asked sarcastically.
Doc rolled his eyes. “Yes, it is because you don’t have clothes. So tell me how do you plan to walk around the village?”
“Oh I can dry out my tail,” Marty said, hopping out of the water to sit on the dock with Doc.
“Dry out your tail?” Doc asked. “Marty what do you mean by tha-” Doc had to stop and watch as he noticed scales were disappearing on Marty’s body and his ears were turning more human. Doc quickly got a blanket that he brought in case he was out here late, and threw it over the boy’s lower half.
“Ta-da!” Marty said, proudly stuck out a leg from the blanket to show off his new human leg and foot.
“When were you going to let me know you can do that?” Doc asked. “We have been friends for a couple months now.”
“Never came up before,” Marty said, shrugging. Marty was starting to look more closely at his new human look. “Got to admit this is weird, this is my second time doing this.”
“Second?”
“Yeah the first time was before I met you,” Marty explained, still amazed by his toes. “I was accidentally washed to shore. Right before I could start crawling back, I turned into this. I was so freaked out, that was the fastest I ever crawled back to the water. Once I was submerged in the water, I was back to normal.”
“Did you ask your parents about it?” Doc asked.
“Nope,” Marty said. “Are you kidding Doc, my mom would have a sea cow. Besides the fact they would freak out that I was close enough to the surface to get washed ashore, they would freak out even more if I turned human!”
“Do you think they would be able to turn into human too?” Doc asked.
“I have no idea,” Marty said. “I don’t know if all merpeople can do this or if I’m just the weird one. I really don’t want to know how my parents would react if this is just a me thing.”
Doc would understand why he would be worried. Doc has heard stories from the boy about how his parents feel about the surface. Also all the times he is so careful that their meetings are private, from other humans and his parents finding out. If it was just unique to Marty, would they kick him out or would they make sure he never leaves his home again. If it was the first one Doc would be more than willing to take the boy in. If it was the second one, he knows that it would destroy Marty.
Doc watched as Marty slowly, and wobbly, stood up right. Doc was glad he had the blanket still wrapped around him. When Marty was balanced, he gave Doc a smile, and took a step forward. Then promptly fell flat on his face.
“Marty!” Doc shouted, helping him up right again. “I think you should take it slow till you get the hang of it.”
“Heh, maybe you are right,” Marty said. He leaned on Doc as he took smaller steps. He was still a little wobbly, but he was catching on quickly. “See now you can take me to the village.”
“Well I think now you are right about the problem being you don’t have clothes,” Doc chuckled. “I think you will get weird looks if you are wearing a blanket.”
“So let’s get me some clothes and you can show me around,” Marty said. “Least you could do cause I let you ‘study’ me.”
Doc just shook his head fondly at the boy, as they slowly walked back to Doc’s place.
Chapter 8: Don't leave things in the past (Local Legend AU)
Notes:
Local Legend Clint Eastwood by fiddlstyx
Can I say I think it would be adorable if little Marty grew up knowing the legend of Clint Eastwood and enjoying it so much then saying, "I want to be like Clint Eastwood when I grow up!" Well good news for you kid.
I may have to write a little one shot based on that.
Enjoy!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Marty was sitting at the table with his family for breakfast. It has been about three months since his crazy time travel adventure, Marty he is going at a good pace getting use to his ‘new’ family. He is happy that the memories from this timeline is finally coming in. Now Marty is just enjoying a nice weekend breakfast with his family, that is until his father read something interesting in the paper.
“Oh this is interesting!” George exclaimed.
“What is it dear?” Lorraine asked, standing closer to her husband.
Marty was sipping his orange juice as George said, “They found Clint Eastwood’s journal!”
Marty swallowed his juice wrong and started coughing. Luckily for Marty no one noticed as Linda said loudly, “You mean the guy that they named the ravine after?”
“Yes, that Clint Eastwood,” George confirmed, “And not the actor.”
‘Shit! I knew I shouldn’t have forgotten the journal!’ Marty thought as he calmed his coughs. ‘Or I never should have wrote it!’
But Marty knew that having that journal helped keep him sane for that extra week in the Old West. At the time they were thinking the train would be late when Marty had to duel Buford Tannen. Oh no, the train was on time. By the time Doc woke up from his drink, Marty still is dumbfounded that one shot knocks Doc out, then dealing with Buford, and then catching up to the train. The train already passed the switch track. They had to wait for a week for the train to come back and then for it to head back to San Francisco.
Some good came from the week, Marty got to learn more about his family history by helping Seamus and Maggie at the McFly farm. Then when the train came back, Clara stepped off too. Clara explained that she was leaving because she thought Emmett was making up stories rather than saying he didn’t want to be with her. However, two gentlemen on the train witnessed Emmett’s heartbroken time at the saloon and were talking about it. Clara mentioned that she thought about pulling the stop cable but waited till she got to San Francisco and just got a ticket back.
Marty brought up his one idea, take Clara back with them. So by the time the train left again, Clara was waiting with the DeLorean and Marty and Doc successfully hijacked the train. Then the three mostly made it safely to 1985, they were after all almost hit by a train coming back.
Marty was glad to be back in his own time and Doc was back with him. He was also happy Clara was able to come, because Marty is glad Doc found someone for him and also Marty liked Clara too. Marty and Doc were worried about her adjusting to live in the 80s, but she took to it really well. Like how Doc was able to easily adjust in 1885, Clara was the same for the 80s.
Jennifer and Einstein also met Clara and both liked her alot. Doc was glad he was right that Clara would pass the Einstein test. Jennifer teased Marty that Clara may be the only teacher he likes, Marty had to agree.
“This is really a great discovery!” George said. “It will give us some new information how Hill Valley was like in the 1800s! Also we get to find out more about this legend of our town.”
“Wasn’t the guy only here for less than a month?” Dave asked.
“Legends mostly just need a moment to become a legend,” Lorraine said. “Marty, are you excited about this? I know this legend was always your favorite.”
‘WHAT?!’ Marty thought, as his mind short circuited. ‘I am my favorite legend?’
Just then the phone rang. Lorraine got up to answer the phone.
“Hello McFly residence! Oh hello Dr. Brown, sure he is here. Marty, Dr. Brown wants to talk with you.”
Marty knew where this was going. He left the dining room and went to the hallway where the phone was. He took the phone from his mom, and she went back to the dining room. “Hey Doc.”
“You forgot the journal!”
Notes:
Can I say when I saw that this AU was that Marty stayed in 1885 for an extra week, I figured there are three reasons why.
One, when they saw Clara on the train they were able to stop the train before the point of no return. So they needed a week to get the set up right/make more presto logs.
Two, I kind of want to make an AU on this what if. So Marty convinced Doc that he should be in the DeLorean and Marty is the one climbing on the train. Pull the whole I’m younger and more abled body. Then when you think about it Doc’s two jobs were, put in the presto logs (that was numbered BTW) and climb on the train to the car. While Marty has to set the time circuits, watch the boiler heat, and check on the speed. So Marty also pulled, I think you will be better watching two gages than me. Well Clara is still on board, so Marty would help her, cause she makes Doc happy and he likes her too (give me more Marty and Clara friendship!). Well Doc gets the hoverboard to Marty and he saves Clara, but he wasn’t able to get back to the DeLorean in time. So Doc goes to 1985 and Marty is in 1885. Well Marty is there for a week, then Doc shows up again, DeLorean all fixed, but something was wrong with the circuits still (think like in the game) and accidentally came a week later. Then they all go back to 1985.
Three, like I said in my one shot, they missed the train so they have to wait. Now I honestly believe if Clara didn’t pull the emergency stop, they would miss the train. Because she pulled it in the movie, it stalled the train long enough for them to get to it in time. So Clara didn’t pull and bada bing bada boom, they stayed in 1885 for one more week.
Chapter 9: Museums are cool (History Friends AU)
Notes:
History Friends AU by BTTFdork
I love this AU! I love the idea these three get into shenanigans. Now I am going to apologize that Ben Gates isn't in this one shot a lot. I don't know how to write him. Larry I can handle, but Ben it is a little hard. I think it is from the three movies I enjoy Back to the Future and Night at the Museum more than National Treasure. Did I still like National Treasure, yes, but not as much as the other two.
Also what I am doing is that yes Larry and Ben know that Marty is from 1985. I feel like they would know, because Ben would be able to figure it out quickly and Larry just goes with it because, well he does have to play fetch with a T. Rex.
Also looking up, I could not find Larry's year of birth (maybe it is there and I didn't search well) but we officially know Marty's and Ben's.
What I have is Ben is born in 1965, Marty is born 1968, and I choose 1972 for Larry. Going with Ben Stiller is the youngest of Nicholas Cage and Michael J Fox.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Marty quit playing with Rex, and come and help us!” Larry yelled at the time traveler.
Marty can’t help it, Rex is a dinosaur skeleton and acts like a dog! Rex came back with his rib wanting Marty to throw it again. Marty threw it again.
“Marty!” Larry shouted.
“I’m coming!” Marty shouted while walking to Larry. As Marty caught up, Larry mumbled, “Kids, always playing with the dinosaur.”
“Hey! Show some respect!” Marty said. “I am your elder.”
“In 2006 you are! Physically, you right now, are seventeen. So I am your elder!” Larry responded.
“Ya know I could just go back to my time and show up again when I’m thirty-eight,” Marty said to Larry as they walked through the museum.
Larry stopped and gave Marty a deadpan look. “You are really going to be petty?” Marty just smirked and shrugged. “We don’t have time for you to be petty.”
“Technically,” Marty started to say, but Larry interrupted.
“YES, I KNOW YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE!”
Larry started to walk again then stopped, “Wait, where is Ben?”
Marty points down the hall, “He is talking to Teddy.”
Larry looks down the hall and for sure, Ben is standing there having a discussion with Theodore Roosevelt. Larry sighs knowing that the history nerd, especially American history, is going to be chatting with Teddy most of the night. “I knew we shouldn’t have came to the museum to work on finding this artifact.”
“I mean this museum is super cool, and I normally don’t like museums,” Marty told him.
“Only because of Ahkmenrah’s tablet,” Larry said.
“Speaking of Ahkmenrah, cause Ben is tied up with Teddy, I want to ask him some stuff.”
Larry, knowing why Marty wants to talk to pharaoh, snarks, “Don’t you have a girlfriend?”
“Shut up!”
Bouns:
“Okay Marty already headed back to his time,” Larry said. “Tomorrow, don’t get distracted by Teddy.”
“I’ll do my best,” Ben replied. “It is really amazing to get a first hand account with the figures at the museum.”
“I’ll admit it is pretty neat,” Larry said. “I kind of want to get some coffee, you want to join?”
“Coffee sounds great!” The two heard a voice nearby. They turned to see a thirty eight year old Marty standing there!
“Do you seriously have to be that petty!” Larry yelled as Ben laughed.
Notes:
I know that if I went to the Museum of Natural History at night and everything was alive, I would stay and play fetch with Rex.
Also did I hint at a bisexual Marty? Yes, yes I did. I had the biggest crush on Ahkmenrah (and Rami Malek) when the movie first came out, I had to include him someway.
Chapter 10: The two most important people (Clara in the 1980s AU)
Notes:
Clara in the 1980s AU by itsthemorph
Dude I am so happy I can use this AU to give us more Clara and Marty friendship. I want them to be good friends, not as close as Marty and Doc, but still really good friends.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Clara is doing a little bit better with her new life, after a big conversation with Emmett about having to help her. She was happy that Marty, she still slips up and calls him Clint, was on her side with that conversation. She also enjoyed Marty wanting to show her life in 1985. Before she got into the time machine, she honestly thought Marty just tolerated her. She is glad to find out that he was just really stressed about Emmett getting killed and getting home.
Now she is starting to work at the planetarium in Hill Valley, and helping Emmett to find a new place for the two of them to live. She enjoys the ‘field trips’ Marty, and sometimes Jennifer, takes her on. Emmett also joins them pretty often. As much as she does love Emmett, she really does enjoy her one on one time with Marty. She knows Emmett and Marty are best friends, but she knows Emmett also sees Marty as a son. So she likes getting to know Emmett’s ‘son’ better.
Today Clara was sitting on the couch in the garage reading a book with Einstein curled up next to her, no plans for today. Emmett is out with some work looking for a house again. Clara and Einstein heard the door unlock and open, knowing it was Marty.
“Doc? Clara?” Marty called out, as he walked in. Einstein bound over to greet Marty. “Hi Einie!”
“Just Einstein and myself today. Emmett is out,” Clara said, marking her page in her book. “How are you today Marty?”
“Pretty good. Though I was hoping that you would be here,” Marty told her while rubbing his neck. “I have a paper to write about a famous author for English. I was hoping you could help me out. I choose Jules Verne, cause you and Doc got me into reading his books. My teacher wouldn’t let me pick my dad, cause she said that was a cop out. I usually have trouble writing papers cause I tend to ramble.”
Clara smiled at him, “I’ll be glad to help you organize your thoughts. So what exactly do you need to write about?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When Emmett came back he noticed Marty’s car sitting in the drive. He quietly came into his home. Emmett is so happy Clara came with them to the future, but he is also happy that Marty and Clara get along too. He wouldn’t know what to do if the two of them hated each other. He would never be able to choose between them. He wouldn’t want to lose this new love and he would never want to throw away a great friendship. So whenever he can he likes to just observe the two of them hanging out.

Luckily for Emmett, the two and Einstein didn’t hear him come in.

“So why is Around the World in Eighty Days your favorite, Marty?” Emmett heard Clara ask.

“I enjoyed the high risks and trying to win in what was essentially a race,” Marty responded. “Though my main reason is, I never really left Hill Valley. I want to go and see other places in the world. That is also another reason why I want to be a rockstar, so I can see the world.”

“Never, not even for a vacation?” Clara asked.

“Well in this timeline, remember how I said my family was different before I was time traveling?” Emmett guessed Marty waited for Clara to nod before finishing, “Well we apparently did vacations in different parts of California, but I never experienced them. So I want to be able to see different places.”

‘Note to self. Go on a trip with Clara and Marty, some place outside of California,’ Emmett thought to himself.

“Clara, you said your favorite is From the Earth to the Moon. Why?” Marty asked Clara.

“I always liked the thought of going into space to see the stars up close,” Clara told Marty. Emmett knew this already and is still happy that they are bonding. “You know after the festival, Emmett was talking about going to the moon and I thought he was just describing the book.”

“Oh I think he was trying to tell you about space shuttles!” Marty explained. “A science teacher was telling us that in January they are going to launch two more shuttles into space.”

“Really?”

“Yeah they always show the launches on TV, so you will be able to watch it!”

Emmett heard Clara gasp in excitement.

‘Plan a trip for the three of us to go to Florida to watch a space launch,’ Emmett corrected his previous note.

Emmett decided to let them know he was back, by pretending to open the door. “I’m back. Marty! It is good to see you!”

“Hiya Doc!”

“Welcome back!”

Einstein just kept chilling by Marty and Clara. Emmett swears the dog likes those two more than him now.

“What is going on here?” Emmett ‘asked’.

“I needed some help with my English paper and I asked Clara to help me out. I had to write about an author, and I picked Jules Verne. Cause you two got me hooked on his books.”

“Well he is a very good author!” Emmett exclaimed.

“Emmett, you are being a little biased about that,” Clara told him.

“So I saw in the papers about NASA going to have two space launches soon,” Emmett said. “What do you two think of the three of us taking a trip to Florida to watch one?”

Emmett was very happy to see the excitement in the eyes of the two most important people in his life.

Notes:

I had to look up when some space shuttles launched in the 80s and was like, 'oh cool two happened in January 1986, Clara can see them.' Then I looked them up, I forgot the second one in January 1986 was the Challenger. So Doc make sure to take them to see the launch of Columbia and not the Challenger.

Chapter 11: I couldn't risk it (Murderer Lorraine AU)

So this is the Murderer Lorraine AU by synthsays

Basically when Biff is sexually assaulting Lorraine, she kills him. Well George comes onto the scene and is going to run away, but Lorraine threatens to kill him if George doesn't take her to the dance.

Now I was thinking, 'Oh I'm not going to be good at this and it will be a short chapter.' Well it ran away from me.

Chapter Text

Three sonic booms were heard as a DeLorean hit into the church that is in the old movie theater. Two people were around to hear it, Red and a man waiting in a car for this DeLorean to appear. Red mumbled about crazy drunk drivers and the man was confused, this is ten minutes early.

The car backed out from the church and the driver side opened and a teenage boy stepped out. “Red, you look great! Everything looks great!” The teen said, looking around, like he couldn’t believe that he was there.

The man stepped out of the car and walked to the teen, “Marty.”

The teenager, Marty, whipped around to look at the man, “Dad? What are you doing here?”

“Waiting for you,” George explained to his son.

Marty took a look at his dad, he seemed a little different but not at the same time. Like he doesn’t have his glasses or the greasy slicked back hair. He still seemed to hunched into himself, and just also seemed more defeated.

“What do you mean waiting for me?” Marty asked, then they saw a Volkswagen bus drive by them. “Dad, I can explain later! But I gotta go and help Doc! He needs me!” Marty says quickly as he turns to go back to the DeLorean.

George grabs Marty’s arm, “Marty! Dr. Brown read your letter. He will be fine!”

“What?” Marty stared wide-eyed at George, how did he know about the letter? “Dad?” Marty asked, voice shaking. “How did you know I was going to be here?”

“Dr. Brown and I can explain at his lab. I’m going to leave my car here. We need to take the DeLorean,” George told Marty. “Do you want to drive or do you want me to drive?”

“I-I” Marty couldn’t speak, he is so confused. What is going on?

“I’ll drive,” George said, guiding Marty back to the DeLorean.

Marty felt numb as George drove to Doc’s place. His mind was going in circles. Why was Dad here? Why does he look different? How does he know about my letter to Doc? Is Doc okay? What is going on?!

George pulled the car into the drive and Marty saw Doc’s van there too. Marty didn’t think, he tore open the door before his dad put the car in park. He jumped out and ran to the garage. He slammed the door open, and he heard Einstein bark, but Marty could only stare at Doc standing in the room. He is alive! Marty had tears in his eyes as he slammed into Doc, hugging his friend.

Doc wrapped his arms around his friend and hugged him back. “I’m sorry for making you worry and having to see that.”

“I’m just happy you read my letter,” Marty mumbled.

The two then heard George walk into the garage. Einstein bounded over to the new person and George started petting him.

Marty then remembered all the questions he had. “Dad?” George looked up, “How did you know about the letter I gave Doc?”

“Marty,” Doc spoke. Marty turned back to Doc. “He knows you were Calvin Klein in 1955.”

“What?” Marty asked, looking back and forth between his dad and Doc.

“Well I figured it out about a year ago,” George said. “I noticed that you looked alot like the first person who wanted to be friends with me when I was a teenager. So I went to Dr. Brown about why my son looks like his nephew, and he explained everything.”

“You weren’t worried that I wasn’t your son?” Marty asked with no filter cause his brain was still reeling.

He noticed both men flinch at that. “That was never an option Marty,” George said. “I have to ask, just so I know where for us to start explaining, do you know how I saved your mom from Biff?”

Marty shook his head no. “I knew his friends took me and locked me in the band’s trunk. When I was running back to Biff’s car to try and help, you and mom were walking into the dance together. Then I had to help play at the dance and saw you two kiss.”

George and Doc sighed. “So from the very beginning it seems.”

“What are you two talking about!” Marty shouted.

“Martin,” George firmly said Marty’s full name, meaning he is serious. “Lorraine stopped Biff from sexually assaulting her. She killed him.”

Marty felt like the floor dropped out from under him. His mom killed Biff? There is no more Biff to torment his family? His mom murdered someone?

“When I went to the Packard to do the plan,” George continued. “I saw no one was there. I heard Lorraine’s voice and I went to Biff’s car. I saw Biff dead and Lorraine with the weapon. I was about ready to run and tell someone, when she grabbed me and made me take her to the dance or I will be next.”

“But I saw the two of you kiss,” Marty whispered, wondering why his dad would want to stay and be romantic with a woman who threatened his life. Marty is glad because he didn’t fade from existence and Dave and Linda’s pictures were back to normal.

“Nobody saw the knife she had,” George said.

“After I sent you back Marty,” Doc spoke to explain the next part. “I had the police come the next day. I thought it was about me doing a science experiment in a public place again, even though I talked with a cop the night of the storm. They were asking for my ‘nephew’, Calvin Klein, because he was wanted for the murder of Biff Tannen.”

“She decided to pin the blame on you, because you were with her when Biff showed up,” George told Marty as his jaw dropped.

“I told them he moved back home to his parents, they still kept questioning me. I think they thought I was trying to hide you,” Doc continued. “After a while they realized that I lost all contact with you and they left me alone.”

“Dad,” Marty turned to his father. “Why did you stay with her?”

“I was still scared of her threats,” George said ashamed. “But she also knew that our kiss was special and that I was to be with her forever. So we got married and had you kids. When I finally decided I was tired of being scared and told her I was going to leave with you kids and tell the cops.”

“So ma was arrested and you left?” Marty asked.

George had tears gathered in his eyes. “No, I wasn’t able to leave or tell. She changed her threats.” George had to take a deep breath and he looked Marty in the eye, Marty knew he was not going to like this. “When I confronted her, you were five, you heard us arguing and you wondered why. Lorraine had you come sit in her lap, she was hugging you so you didn’t see. She had that knife again in her hand pointing at you. I knew the threat loud and clear. If I leave and tell the police, she will hurt you and your siblings. I couldn’t risk you three.”

Marty felt sick. His own mother threatened to kill her five year old son, so she wouldn’t get arrested.

“So I have been working on a plan when that happened,” George said. “I started saving accounts for you three so that when each of you were going to college you were able to get out of the house. After I had you moved out Marty, I was going to let you all know the whole story then leave Lorraine.”

“Why are you telling me this now? I don’t graduate for another seven months, and another eight before I’m eighteen.” Marty asked.

George sighs. “Like I said, I noticed that you were looking more and more like Calvin Klien everyday. I started thinking about how you also acted like him too. So I was worried. I went to Dr. Brown to ask about how my son and his nephew seem to be the same person. I let slip about Lorraine being the one who killed Biff and pinned the blame on his nephew.”

“So I told George everything about your trip to 1955,” Doc said to Marty. “That is how he knew about your letter to me, and to wait for you at the town center. I assumed that with you past and messing up their meeting it changed your family from what you knew before the trip.”

“That still doesn’t tell me why you are telling me this now,” Marty reminded the two.

“Marty, if I was connecting the dots, don’t you think your mother was?” George asked his son. “She was starting to connect a couple weeks ago, I don’t want to risk her finding that information and using it against you.”

“Like how? Until now I didn’t know she killed anyone,” Marty said.

“Lorraine was never happy when Dave and Linda moved out, I think it is to keep me in line. She has been telling you for the past two months that you can stay home with us for a year or two when you are at college,” George explained. “I feel like she would threaten to tell people that you traveled in time and get Dr. Brown in trouble if you don’t agree to stay at home.”

“Even worse Marty,” Doc piped in. “If she told people that time travel is real and that you were Calvin Klein in 1955, you could be arrested for her crimes.”

“This is really really heavy,” Marty said sitting down. “So what do we do?”

“That is something else Dr. Brown and myself talked about it,” George said. “I’m sorry about this Marty, but Dr. Brown is going to take you and himself far away from Hill Valley until I can expose Lorraine.”

“What?” Marty questioned. “What about school? What about my band? What about Jennifer?”

“I’m so sorry,” George looked even more defeated. “When I planned this with Dr. Brown we decided to let Jennifer know what is happening and she will be the one to contact you two about what is going on here.”

“When did you plan for us to leave?” Marty asked, ready to cry. He spent a week in the past worried he won’t see anything from his life here, and now he can’t even hold on to it.

“Tonight,” Doc said. “I have my stuff in the van and your dad brought yours.”

Marty let the tears slowly fall, feeling like the life he was trying so hard to get back to was just ripped away from him. He felt his dad hug him tightly, with his own tears, as George repeats over and over, I love you to Marty.

The rest was a blur. The DeLorean was loaded back into the truck. His dad got his things for Marty. Mostly clothes, but also all his favorite cassesets and his guitar. Marty sat in the passenger seat, Einstein's head in his lap comforting the teen. Marty absentmindedly petted Einstein as Doc got in the van.

As Doc pulls the van out of the drive and drives away. Marty looks back at his dad. He really hopes this isn’t the last time he sees him.

Notes:

I was thinking how to have it where Marty doesn't know Biff is dead until he is back in 1985. Because he would have had to seen the body in the Packard, also the chance of running late to go back to 1985 because of the body. So I had it that Biff took Lorraine to his car. I see him as the guy who would want to be with the girl of his dreams in his own car, when that car is his pride and joy.

Chapter 12: What can I do for you (Steven Universe AU)

Notes:

Steven Universe AU by Alexsafan

Now it has been a hot minute since my Steven Universe brain rot days. I was reading more up on Alex's AU for this and had no idea where to go.

Then my mind went to, OG Marty (any AU cause Marty need to play an instrument) plays guitar, you know who plays guitar in Steven Universe. Why Mr. Universe himself! Greg Universe.

So enjoy bonding with Greg and Gem Marty. If Steven can have Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst as moms, Gem Marty can have Doc and Greg as dads.

Chapter Text

“So you place your fingers like this,” Greg said, helping the gem place his fingers on the guitar neck. “Then with your other hand you strum.”

The gem, a Tiger’s Eye, gently strummed the strings on the guitar and notes came out.

“I did it!” the gem said excitedly, eyes glittering in happiness.

“See I told you you could Marty!” Greg said to him. His life has been very interesting lately, after meeting Rose. With Greg learning all about these aliens called gems, he gets some surprises still. Like a gem who is more masculine and prefers to go by male pronouns, also that he has a name, and doesn’t go by what type of gem he is. Also that he lives with an older gem who is the same way! Honestly Greg is not all that surprised when the gem with a name asked Greg to teach him how to play guitar.

Greg kept teaching Marty different cords and even played some songs for him. Greg was very impressed how quick Marty learned and was starting to pluck out a song he showed him.

“I’m surprised how quick you are learning,” Greg finally voiced to Marty.

“Well most of us gems have to be able to learn quickly,” Marty explained while still working on cords and notes. “We had to be basically ready to do our jobs as soon as we come out of the ground.”

Greg wonders if that is how Rose and her friends were the same way. “How do you know what job you are supposed to do?”

“The Diamonds decide what each type of gem has to do,” Marty explains. “Tiger’s Eyes are soldiers, because of how big and strong they are.”

Greg had to do a once over Marty. As much as he likes this gem, ‘big and strong’ are not good descriptors for him. “Um what if the gem can’t do their job?” Greg asked him.

“They shatter us,” Marty said calmly, like he was saying the weather is nice.

“What shatter? Like kill you?!” Greg shouted.

“Yep,” Marty said. “I was lucky that when I was scheduled to be shattered, the rebellion stopped and me and Doc got away. Speaking of Doc! I bet he can make us an awesome amp so we can play super loud!”

Greg thinks that maybe Marty almost dying happened a long long time ago so he has moved on. “That would be pretty sick. And I may have to go on tour with you. You are taking to playing guitar really well!”

Marty just smiled up at the human and kept playing the guitar.

Chapter 13: Water Avoidance (H2O AU)

Notes:

H20 AU by daryfromthefuture

I really love this AU. I had to hunt a month or two ago to find it again so I could reblog it on my tumblr. Here it is so you don't have to hunt for it.
https://daryfromthefuture.tumblr.com/post/719813243528445952/sighs-okay-here-goes-nothing-the-idea-is-that

Now there was so many ways I wanted to go with this. So I finally settled with Marty and Jennifer getting together. Why? Because I love them your honor.

Enjoy!

Chapter Text

“Jennifer I’m so sorry about this!” Marty said, as Jennifer was helping pat Marty’s tail dry. He can’t believe that he turns into a merman now, when any water touches him. Extremely inconvenient to Marty.

“Marty it is okay,” Jennifer said, still helping. “I don’t mind helping you. Besides I don’t want to think if someone found out and was going to hurt you.”

“Yeah,” Marty whispered, looking to the side. He is still thinking about what happened with Doc. When Marty cut contact off with him, he was so angry. Now Marty is just sad that Doc isn’t a part of his life anymore. Once in a while his mind loops back to, ‘Did Doc keep me around until I could be useful for his experiments?’ It seriously hurts to think that everyone around town was right, that Doctor Brown only wanted Marty around as a lab rat. Marty just feels so stupid to think that Doc would actually care about a useless McFly, just like the rest of his family.

Marty has been so frustrated lately. Two things that were always an escape for him from his messed up family life was surfing and going to Doc’s place. Now with this stupid merman thing, he lost both. Doc wanting to study him as a merman, and the fact that if he gets wet, he grows a tail! So it is kind of hard to surf without water. Also the fact that Marty is avoiding water at all costs, so he doesn’t change, has made life at home a little bit worse for him, because Marty really can’t do certain chores. His mom gets upset if Marty doesn’t do the chores and she gets upset if he asks for things to prevent him getting wet, like rubber gloves.

“Well it looks like we are all dry!” Jennifer says, as they watch Marty’s legs reappear. “It is a good thing you still have your clothes on when you change back,” Jennifer chuckles about it.

“Totally,” Marty says standing up. Marty never thought he would be so happy to stand or walk, but it is almost like when you have a stuffy nose, then you are happy you can breathe again. “You are already doing so much for me, I wouldn’t want to expose you too.”

Jennifer bumps Marty’s shoulder. “I appreciate that. So I have something I want to show you after school, I think you are going to like it,” she said with a smile.

“Do I get a hint?” Marty teased his friend.

“Nope! It is a surprise!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After school, Jennifer led Marty closer to the coast. Marty is getting more and more confused. For the past month, Jennifer has been helping Marty avoid water, why is she taking him to water?
“Uh Jennifer?” Marty started to ask.
Jennifer turned her head to him, “There is a reason. Trust me!”
“You know I do,” Marty said, meaning it wholeheartedly. After the whole thing of cutting contact with Doc, Jennifer has been Marty’s rock. He doesn’t know what he would do if didn’t have anything.
Jennifer walked to a forested area, “We are almost there. This way.”
Marty followed behind Jennifer as she walked though this hidden area. Then Jennifer stopped and looked at Marty. “I found this place about two months ago. I have started to come here everyday after school to just think. No one ever comes here at this time.” She pushed back some plants and let Marty walk by. Marty stepped out and saw a small cove. It was really pretty and Marty recognized some of the rocks on the high part of the cliffs, knowing no one walks past them. The high cliffs and narrow opening of the cover made it look very hidden.
“I know how upset you are about not being able to surf anymore,” Jennifer said standing next to him. “But after a while I realized that this place was really well hidden, I thought that you would be able to at least swim in peace. I do have a request that I come with you so I can still watch out for you.”
Marty just stared at Jennifer as she looked at him with a smile, she looked so happy that she was able to give something to Marty. He can’t believe that she would do all this for him. Showing him essentially her secret spot just so he can have a bit of freedom. Even going as far to give up more of her time to make sure he is safe.
Marty couldn’t help it, he leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the lips. Jennifer gave a little ‘mrrph’ in surprise. Marty pulled back and got red in the face. “I’m sorry! I should have asked. It just happened.”
Marty kept rambling, but Jennifer grabbed his hand to have him stop. “Marty,” she started, with a smile. “I didn’t mind. It just surprised me. I’ll be honest, I have been wanting to do that too for a while.”
“Really?” Marty asked, and Jennifer nodded. “So you won’t mind me kissing you again?”
“I thought you wouldn’t ask,” Jennifer said, as the two of them kissed.
Chapter 14: Time Train (Royal AU)
Notes:
The Royal AU by professorsaber
I really like this AU with the concept that professorsaber is making with time folding on itself. I will admit I had no idea how to write that. So I basically had Doc and Marty recreate the testing of the time machine in Twin Pines parking lot, but with a train in a rail yard. I did try to include the Doc and Marty we know slipping though to the Royal AU counterparts.
Enjoy.
Chapter Text
“It is a little odd asking the future Grand Duke to meet you in the middle of the night at a rail yard,” Prince Matin said walking to Doctor Emmett von Braun, and his dog Copernicus. “And what on earth is all on that train?”
Emmett looked up from fixing something on the train. “Marty! I’m glad you made it! I wanted to show you my newest invention!”
“What is it Doc?” the prince asked.
“All answers will be known soon,” Emmett said. “Okay Copernicus in you go. As you can see Marty, Copernicus has a pocket watch on and it is in time with mine.”
The prince watched Emmett set a locking device on the train to keep it stationary, he also noticed that it extends yards away. Emmett started to mess with some knobs and values on the train. The prince saw that the engine was ready to move forward but it stayed stationary because of the brakes in place.
Emmett dragged the prince to where the breaks stopped, that was yards away from the train. Emmett had them stand on the tracks and said, “When this train hits eighty eight miles, you are going to see some serious shit.” The prince looked at Emmett confused as to why he would say such an odd phrase. Emmett also looked confused at what he uttered.
Emmett released the brake and the train started speeding towards them, getting faster and faster. Prince Martin tried to step off the tracks, but the doctor pulled him back. Right before it got to them the train made a loud boom and disappeared in a bright flash. The only thing left was the rails on fire like it continued down the track.
Matin just stared behind them and he looked around while Emmett was jumping up and down happily. “Jeeze Doc you disintegrated Copernicus!” Prince Matin was confused again as to why he would say that.
“Copernicus is fine! I sent him to the future, one minute to be precise! Speaking of that, let's stand off the tracks,” Emmett explained, guiding them off.
“Wait Doc,” Martin said. “You made a time machine out of a train engine?”
Then the two heard three big booms and the train reappeared. Doc pulled some other leavers that added more breaks to the train to stop it. “Here Marty, check Copernicus’ watch with mine while I stop the train,” Emmett said as he climbed in the train.
Martin started petting Copernicus as he checked the two watches. Copernicus’ watch was a minute slow. “He did travel through time,” Martin whispered.
“That he did!” Emmett said. “Here I will explain everything and how it works.” Emmett explained everything to the prince and the prince listened amazed at his mentor’s new invention.
“Now Marty,” Martin looked to Emmett. “What time would you like for us to go to?”
Chapter 15: Spiders-Marty (Spider-Man AU)
Notes:
Spider-Man AU by fiddlstyx
Sorry this is so short and I know there is so many ideas I have for this AU. However, the brain was like I forgot how to make these ideas.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Doc, what do you mean the spiders had time powers!?” Marty shouted. Doc finished explaining why he had the spiders in the lab.
It has been a crazy month for Marty. First, he was bitten by one of the spiders that Doc was experimenting on. Then, Marty had to deal with getting super powers. Also, Doc creating robotic arms that made him go crazy. So Doc was attacking Marty’s superhero persona, though at the time he didn’t know it was Marty. Thank god he snapped out of it. The worst of it was that his dad was killed, and it was all Marty’s fault.
Marty was brought back to the discussion at hand when Doc said, “Well I was trying to give people the ability to use time powers. So I started to experiment on the spider first.”
“Okay,” Marty started, while pinching the bridge of his nose. “You are telling me that besides me having these spider powers, that I may also get time powers?”
“I mean I think you did have some moments when your time powers activate,” Doc explained, with his back to Marty. “Did you notice anytime that time seemed to slow down for you and you were more able to dodge stuff?”
“Yeah a couple of times,” Marty said, as he was crawling up to a wall. After Marty got his powers, he really likes to chill in high places, and that beam is calling Marty’s name. “But I never did it willingly. I thought it was like my spidey senses.”
“Spidey senses?” Doc asked, confused.
“Yeah! Those times when I sense something and avoid it. I’ve been calling it my spidey sense,” Marty explained, happily sitting on the beam above Doc.
“Well anyway, I believe that we can help find a way to control it. Possibly even make you physically go back in time,” Doc explained.
“How are we going to find a way? Do you want me to try holding my breath?” Marty teased Doc.
“No no I don’t think holding your breath will affect your abilities,” Doc said. “We will just need to-” Doc finally turned around and didn’t see Marty. He looked around a bit then looked up.
Marty gave a little wave and said, “‘Sup?”
“GET DOWN!”
“Nah,” Marty said, laying back on the beam. “I like it up here.”
Notes:
So I almosted wanted to add a bonus on this, because my bestie and myself actually went to see Mean Girls today. They had the trailer for Madame Web and I was working on this when I got back. I wanted to have the bonus is that when Marty got bit, I wanted to have Jennifer there and she has prementions like Madame Web.
Chapter 16: Home is closer than you think (Trinity Trilogy AU)
Notes:
Another great AU that I need to finish reading, Trinity Trilogy AU by daryfromthefuture
In this AU Marty is stuck in 1942. Doc adopts Marty then they move for Doc's new job in Los Alamos to work on a project to help end WW2.
Because I haven't finished it and I'm not every good with WW2 era stuff (low key tired of too much media about it) I wanted to expand more on when Marty first arrived.
Enjoy!
Chapter Text
Night was falling, and Marty still had no clue where to go. He hiked up twenty miles to get to Hill Valley proper, but now that he is here, he is drawing up a blank.
The DeLorean is wrecked, so I can’t go home, but I don’t have anywhere to go here. Marty thought as he wandered around a bit.
So many people are giving him weird looks, luckily for Marty he wasn’t wearing something that sticks out too much that when he went to 1955. However, it was still a little odd looking and he was dirty. From the crash and walking along a dusty road. Marty passed by a soup kitchen, unfortunately with the time, it was closed for the night.
At least there is somewhere I can get food at. Marty really wished he kept his wallet in his pocket like normal, but no had he put it in the glove compartment. Just as well, the money he had in his wallet may have been printed after 1942, so he couldn’t spend it.
Marty looked around some more as it was getting darker and darker. He knew he had two choices at the moment, he could sleep on a bench or hide out in an alleyway. Marty picked the alleyway, just in case an officer didn’t want him to sleep on a bench, and he could be hidden there.
Marty walked down one and shoved himself into a hidden area. He curled up with his knees close to his chest. Before Marty realized it, tears were falling down his face, he shoved his face in his knees. He thought being stuck in 1955 or 1885 was bad, this is worse. At least those times he had Doc, he didn't have a way home or anyone to help him. He truly is all alone.
Marty knew that if someone asked about where he is from tomorrow, he needs to make up a story. He can’t say his last name is McFly, it would be too weird for a random new McFly to show up.
I’m so tired of creating new aliases. I’m too tired and drained right now to think of something clever. Marty thought to himself. I just don’t want to be alone. Marty sobbed into his knees.
After a while Marty fell into a fitful sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next morning Marty went out wandering again, he would have to wait another three hours for the soup kitchen to open.

Marty wasn’t looking where he was going and someone was rushing by and they collided with each other.

“I’m sorry,” Marty apologized, helping pick up the papers. “I wasn’t looking where I was going.” Marty looks up at the man who he ran into. Marty’s breath caught, he was a little shocked at the red hair, but he recognizes those brown eyes anywhere, even if they are forty three years younger.

“No I must apologize,” the man, clearly Emmett Brown, said. “I should have been rushing. My name is Doctor Emmett Brown, what is yours?” Emmett said, holding out his hand to shake.

“Marty,” Marty said automatically. “Just Marty, I don't have a last name. I am an orphan and I was kicked out of the orphanage, they just called me Martin or Marty.” Marty was internally screaming, ‘Why did I just blurted that all out?’

Emmett just blinked. “Well Marty I was heading home. Why don’t you come with me? I can give you a meal and we can figure out something for you.”

“Thank you,” Marty said following Emmett. Doc, you always seem to be there when I need it. Maybe whatever we figure out I can still be friends with him.

Figuring it out turned out to just be Emmett adopting Marty.

Chapter 17: Yer a demigod, Marty. (Percy Jackson AU)

Notes:

Percy Jackson AU by jayisnotdrawing

I'm going to admit I have only read the first two books of the series, and I still need to watch the TV show.

So I knew enough cause most of us headcanon Marty to have ADHD, the demigods have that. Then the dyslexia would also explain why Marty doesn't do well in school. Then I was looking up powers/gifts children of Apollo have. Music was one and is a big duh for Marty. But then I saw that it said children of Apollo are good at throwing things. Guys that spiky plate in Hell Valley that Marty throws at Biff and the infamous pie plate that saved Doc in 1885. Are we sure Marty really isn't a son of Apollo?

Enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Here I want you to try and give it a shot,” Jennifer said, handing Marty a bow and arrow. They are currently at the lake, having a last get together before Marty goes off to ‘camp’ for the summer.

It was wild thinking that even after the time travel, Marty finds out that George McFly isn’t his biological dad. As crazy as it is, Marty is a demigod whose father is Apollo. That was a very VERY awkward conversion he had with his parents.

Marty accidentally let it be known that he was the Calivn Klien that they were friends with in 1955, because Marty yelled out, “Then why was I fading from existence at the dance?!” then having to explain during the conversation. Then the part of knowing some sexual choices Lorraine and George have, thanks to Apollo explaining, “It wasn’t just Lorraine I wanted to hook up with, I also wanted George. So both of them or neither of them.” Marty really REALLY didn’t need to know that he was the product of a threesome.

Then why did dear old ‘dad’ have to come and let Marty know about his parentage? There are people hunting down children of Apollo to be able to use their gifts of prophecy. Though these people don’t know, not all of Apollo’s children have this ability.

Some things that Apollo explained about his children or demigods explained a lot about Marty. Marty’s ADD was because it was of his demigod’s ‘natural battle reflexes’. Marty’s trouble in school was because he had a hard time reading, because his brain is hardwired to read Ancient Greek. Why Marty is so musically inclined and good, Apollo is the God of Music. Oh that was fun trying to stop Apollo from beating up ‘those small brained idiots who don’t know talent!’ because Marty told him about the rejection from his band playing at HVHS’ dance. Also most of Apollo’s children are good at throwing things, the pie plate that Marty threw to save Doc’s life.

Which is why Marty is now having a bow and arrow shoved into his hands by Jennifer. She wants to see if Marty is good at archery.

“Jennifer,” Marty said, looking at the bow and arrow. “I have never used a bow before. I won’t be able to shoot it.”

“Phssst,” Jennifer waved her hand. “I think you can. If you already have a natural talent for music and for frisbee throwing, I think you can shoot a bow and arrow. Maybe not like Robin Hood, but be able to.”

Marty still was giving her a look. Then Jennifer said, “Well then let’s bet on it.”

“What do you have in mind?” Marty asked, having an idea where this is going.

“If you shoot it and it is a disaster, you get to choose what we are doing tonight,” Jennifer explained. “But if I’m right, and you do a good job, I get to choose what we are doing tonight.”

“Fine I’ll shoot the arrow,” Marty said, going a distance away from Jennifer. To Marty it is a win-win, no matter what the outcome is.

Marty notched the arrow and aimed at the tree. He pulled back the string and then let go. The arrow sailed through the air and stuck right into the trunk of the tree.

Marty turned around to a smirking Jennifer. “Okay so what are the plans for tonight?” Marty asked with a smirk.

Notes:

I wanted to say I had fun explaining how Marty is a son of Apollo, because I thought 'wait if Apollo is Marty's biological dad, why would Marty fade from existence in 1955?' Then simple, Apollo didn't want to be with just Lorraine or just George, he wanted to be with both of them.

Chapter 18: He didn't look (Stuck in 1885 AU)

Notes:

Stuck in 1885 AU by daryofthefuture

I knew this was going to happen to me that I was going to get behind and posting/writing the oneshots. I'm going to try and get caught up by the end of this week.

So about this one shot, most of the AUs that have official stories I like to make a scene that the author didn't write yet or expand on a scene that was vague. So for this one I have read Until I Get Home and I wanted show the start of Marty feeling left behind and the failed return home.

Chapter Text

“Doc! I’m going to throw you the hoverboard!” Marty yelled to Doc.

As much as Marty was frustrated with Clara throwing a wrench in this whole plan to get him and Doc home, he doesn’t want her to get hurt or worse. If it was under different circumstances, Marty knows he would get along with Clara. Also she really makes Doc happy. Marty wants his best friend to be happy.

“Marty!” Doc yelled. Marty saw the first warning sign for the drop off rush towards him.

Marty shouted and quickly ducked back into the DeLorean. Marty stuck his head back out and yelled, “Catch Doc!” Marty let go of the hoverboard to go to Doc. Doc caught it with his foot and Marty cheered.

Doc moved over to Clara with ease now and Marty saw he caught her right as she was going to fall. Marty smiled, glad that she was safe. Then Marty’s smile faded from his face as he noticed Doc was floating away from the DeLorean. Him and Clara only had eyes for each other.

‘Doc we don’t belong here. Come back!’ Marty thought to himself. Marty closed the door seeing that the drop off was coming closer. He kept an eye on the boiler and the speed.

Marty noticed something off the DeLorean was at eighty, the normal sparks weren’t flashing. Marty quickly looked at the displays behind him, they were dark and they were normally lit up.

“Shit!” Marty yelled and quickly opened the door. He knew this was going to hurt a lot, but better than plunging down a ravine with an explosion. Marty rolled out of the car and rolled away from the tracks.

Marty hurt all over from falling out of the car at a high speed. He looked up to watch the DeLorean and the train fall down into the ravine. Marty curled up and covered his head at the following explosion, just in case debris flew towards him.

Marty slowly stood up, hissing in pain. He limped a bit, ankle probably sprained.

‘Perfect. How are we going to get home now,’ Marty thought while looking for Doc. Marty spotted him, but as soon as he did he felt his stomach drop.

Doc was over by Clara, not paying attention to the explosion. Doc didn’t bother to see if Marty went back or not.

Chapter 19: May the odds ever be in your favor (Hunger Games AU)

Notes:

Hunger Games AU by BGSparrow

So I haven't seen the movies in a while and never read the books.

I wanted to show the reaping and thinking how shitty it would be to be reaped when you are seventeen, you just needed to not get picked and you are safe next year. Welp sorry Marty.

I chose District Six because of transportation and Clara as the escort cause I did like the romance with Effie and Haymitch.

Chapter Text

“Martin McFly!” Clara, the escort for District Six yelled out.

Marty closed his eyes and let out a sigh as he stepped out from the group of the other boys. This was his last year for reaping, then he would have been free. No, Marty has always been unlucky, figures he would get reaped at his last one before he aged out.

Marty walked by Jennifer where she was standing with the other girls who weren’t reaped. She was crying, and horrified for him. Marty is so glad she made it out. Marty smiled a little and mouthed, ‘I love you.’

Marty got to the steps and Clara helped guide him to his spot on the stage, he could swear that she had a sad look on her face.

“May I present your tributes for District Six!” Clara announced.

It was a blur for Marty as they took him into a room for his family to say their goodbyes.

The door opens and Marty watches as his parents and siblings come in. Immediately Lorraine came and hugged Marty crying her eyes out. Marty wrapped his arms around her tightly, he couldn’t help crying with her. He feels his father, Dave, and Linda also join the hug.

“I snuck someone else in here for you,” Marty heard Linda whisper in his ear. Marty looked up, and saw Jennifer standing by the door. Marty felt his family let him go so he could talk with Jennifer.

Marty ran over to her and she ran to him. They kissed, both not really caring that his family was watching. Marty just held her, trying to carve everything about her into his mind. Both were crying.

“I love you so much,” Marty said to her.

“Marty McFly, I need you to promise me,” Jennifer started to order him. “Promise me you will survive.”

Marty wants to promise, but there is a possibility he won’t survive and this is the last time they will see each other. “I’ll do everything to survive.”

After a while, Marty was forced to finish his goodbyes. He was then escorted to the train with the other tribute, Marty has seen her around but doesn’t know her.

They were taken to a cabin in the train where there was food, and there was Clara and an older man in the cabin waiting for them.

Clara stood up and greeted them. “I would like to introduce the two of you to Emmett Brown, was a previous victor to District Six. He will be your mentor. Emmett, this is Rachel Gale.”

Emmett shook Rachel’s hand and greeted her.

“And this is Martin McFly,” Clara said, gesturing to Marty.

“Marty,” Marty said. “I prefer to go by Marty.”

Emmett shakes Marty’s hand and says, “Well Marty it is a pleasure to meet you.”

Chapter 20: Journey to the Past (Anastasia AU)

Notes:

Anastasia AU by Bri-to-the-future

I did start reading BG's Time Circuits but I still not super comfortable about writing someone else's OC yet.

I thought about what part of the movie I wanted to write for, then I remembered Anya leaving the orphanage. How Anya was acting with saying goodbye to the little kids and the mocking, yeah that is also peak Marty behavior.

Also AHHHHH I'm so behind on this! Between getting back into the groove of a full week of school again (those snow days were nice but they messed by my schedule) and housework I feel behind. So I'm sorry if these next chapters are shorter than the others. I am posting another chapter then I have nine more to write and my finale is written.

Chapter Text

“I got you a job at the fish factory,” the bald man who ran the orphanage started to say. “Go straight down this path and take left at the fork in the road.”

“Bye!” a young male teenager said, waving to the other kids from the orphanage.

“ARE YOU LISTENING CALVIN?!”

Calvin stopped waving and replied, “I’m listening Mr. Strickland.”

“You have been a pain in the butt slacker since you got here,” Mr. Strickland said while pulling on Calvin’s coat to the gate. “Acting like the prince of Persia, instead of the nameless nobody you are.”

Calvin truly hates when anyone calls him a nobody. He can put up with slacker, pain in the butt, or nameless, but hates nobody.

“For the last ten years,” Mr. Strickland started. Calvin rolled his eyes and started mouthing what Mr. Strickland was saying. “I clothed you. I feed you. I kept-”

“A roof over my head,” Calvin said the last part out loud. Mr. Strickland whipped his head around at that.

“How is it that you remember all that but nothing about before,” Mr. Strickland walked up to him.

“I remember something!”

“Oh yes ‘Together in Los Angeles’. You want to go to find your family?” Mr. Strickland asked. Calvin nodded. “Calvin it is time for you to take your place in life and in line, and be grateful.” He pushed the boy towards the gate. “Be grateful I got you a job.” He closed the gate on Calvin and headed back into the orphanage.

Calvin just sighed and started walking at the crossroads. Though Calvin was studying road maps before he left, he knows if he turns right it will head to Dublin. If he gets to Dublin, it will be easier for him to find a way to get to the United States, then California, and then he will find his family.

Chapter 21: Ignorance is bliss (Seer AU)

Summary:

Seer AU by IMU

This concept is really fantastic, basically after all of Marty's time travel he can foresee the future. However, it makes him stressed and he gets headaches. He also sees every possible outcome, so that means he sees all the different ways Doc dies.

This chapter is very, very short (I'm so sorry), but I wanted to latch onto the fact that Marty is getting headaches from the visions.

Chapter Text

Marty curled up tighter from where he laid in his bed. His head was pounding so bad, he felt tears start to leak from his eyes because of the pain. “Stop please,” Marty whimpered.

First Marty liked being able to see things before they happened. Really helped with knowing before something goes wrong. After a while it got worse.

First Marty started getting headaches whenever he got a ‘vision’. They started as a light pang, but steadily got worse and worse. Then Marty started seeing more and more outcomes. What would happen if Marty did one thing, but then what would happen if he did the same thing, but maybe if he was two steps to the left and did the same thing would have a different outcome. Of course each ‘vision’ had its own headache. So if Marty got three ‘visions’, he would have a headache that tripled in pain.

Also not counting all the visions he sees of Doc dying. That is what made Marty cry the most, not from the headache but from heartache.

That is why Marty is in bed right now. Doc and him are going to test something with the DeLorean with a new time mechanic, so they will be traveling in time. Of course he has to get all these ‘visions’ right before bed.

Marty is afraid he is going to break soon. From the pounding headache or from seeing Doc die through all time.

“I don’t want this,” Marty whispered to the universe. “I don’t want this. Please. Stop.”

Marty kept whispering and crying for about an hour. Until his body or mind finally couldn’t take more and he passed out from the pain.

Chapter 22: Two halves of the same coin (Soulmates AU)

Notes:

Soulmate AU by Daryofthefuture

I want to say we need more Platonic soulmates in fandoms. Not just Back to the Future, but all fandoms! I added on the fact that the mark doesn't appear until both soulmates are born, so Doc's mark didn't appear until Marty was born in 1968. Then because of time travel shenanigans, Doc would get his mark on Nov 5, 1955, then it disappears when Marty leaves 1955, then reappears in 1968. Also want to low key say that Doc sees his mark start to fade when Marty is almost erased from existence.

I didn't add this in the story but because Dary said platonic marks are blue and romantic marks are pink. I want to think that Marty and Doc are rare. The two of them have a platonic and romantic soulmate. Marty also has a pink mark that he shares with Jennifer and Doc gains one that he shares with Clara.

Chapter Text

Doc held out a hand, and Marty automatically handed him a flat head screwdriver, while still looking at his book that he is studying.

Times like this show how in sync Emmett and Marty are just is proof of how well soulmates work together.

For as long as Emmett was alive, he never thought he would have a soulmate, platonic or romantic, or even a friend. Then his future boy came into his life and found out he did have a soulmate. In 1955, while Emmett barely knew this kid and his crazy time travel story, he did feel like he should listen to him. Then during that week of fixing the DeLorean and fixing Marty’s family, Emmett was acting and treating Marty like he knew him for years. Marty was more understandable with him being comfortable about Emmett, but with Emmett it felt weird how quick he connected to Marty.

Then when Emmett sent Marty back to 1985, was when Emmett realized that he wouldn't see his soulmate for about thirty years. It was hard for Emmett to wait, but it was good to know he would see him again. Emmett felt immense relief when his mark reappeared on June 12, 1968, Marty's birthday, knowing they succeed and Marty was born.

With their adventures through time, they both were finding out the pros and cons of soulmates. Marty did tell Emmett about how right before he went to 1955 he caught a glimpse at his gray mark, and Emmett never again wants to think about his own gray mark back in Hell Valley when he wasn’t there to catch Marty. They are both thankful for the time machine.

There is also the weird thing the two discovered. It is common that a soulmark doesn’t appear until both are born, that is why Emmett went so long without one. However, when Marty appears in a time before he is born, Emmett will gain his mark then it will disappear when Marty goes back. They tested it with Marty staying at the garage and Doc went forward ten minutes. With Doc not ‘existing’ in that ten minutes, Marty’s mark disappeared. When Doc came back Marty said, “That was the weirdest thing that I felt and saw.” Doc laughed and said, “How do you think my eighteen year old self felt when you went to 1931 and then left.”

Then there is the pain and the cold they both feel when the other is physical hurt and emotionally hurt. That is both a good thing, then one of them knows that the other needs help or comfort. Then there is their minor telepathy they have.

“You know you could just help me with the test?” Marty said, glancing at Emmett.

“I am not using our soulmate telepathy to give you the answers,” Emmett said, still looking at what he was working on.

Marty rolled his eyes, “I’m not asking for the answers. I know that at first I would want that, but you know I will feel bad after it. I was thinking if I get stuck you could give me a reminder of what I may need to remember.”

“Hmmm,” Emmett hummed. “That is more reasonable. Most likely I’ll help keep you on track and not let your mind wander. Besides you are right you need to properly study to make sure you know what you are learning. Also don’t stay up cramming tonight!”

“Aughhh,” Marty groaned. “It is really annoying that you know if I cram or not.”

“Just being a good soulmate,” Emmett smirked.

Marty gave Emmett a glare then asked, “Doc, when did you last eat?”

Emmett stopped and looked at Marty for a while. “I’ll go eat some lunch.” It is a two way street where the two of them look out for each other, and Emmett wouldn’t have it any other way.

Chapter 23

Notes:

No Pines AU by BG Sparrow

I was first at a lost what to do for this. Looking though I saw the idea that No Pines Marty when he is in 1885 he pretends to be a fortune teller. I think that is hilarious. I also thought, OG Marty doesn't really care for the old west, but sucks it up. I feel that No Pines Marty would DESPISE being in 1885.

Then I saw how Jennifer is still our Jennifer and doesn't care for No Pines Marty. Well I want to force them to be stuck together. Call it my love of the enemies to lovers trope.

Chapter Text

Jennifer does not know how she ended up in this situation. She is stuck in the old west with the biggest jerk in Hill Valley High School, Marty McFly. There were some men chasing after him when she was near. They both dove into this DeLorean that he had, and Jennifer was in the driver's seat. She was speeding to get away, she bumped into something that was in between the seat, then she sped to ninety.

Jennifer started to see sparks on the outside and Marty yelled, “You stupid bitch! Don’t hit eighty eight!”

Booms sounded and they were in the middle of the day, in a desert! Apparently Doctor Brown made a time machine out of a DeLorean.

Now Jennifer is stuck in 1885 with Marty freaking McFly. The two of them hit the car in a cave and started walking to civilization. Both doing their best to ignore each other. Of course at first Marty tried to hit on her again, but Jennifer not responding, he just ignored her.

Jennifer heard a shout from Marty and then a thump. She turned to look, seeing he tripped over something and landed face first into some semi wet sand. He stood up and Jennifer had to bite her lip at how angry he looked covered in the mud like stuff.

“I hate the old west,” Marty growled out, spitting out mud from his mouth.

Well one good thing, Jennifer thought. He is even more miserable than me in 1885.

“Do we have any plans for what we can do when we get into town,” Jennifer asked.

“What do you mean we?” Marty snarked at her. “You don’t like me and you are the one who got us stuck here.”

“Considering that you hate this place,” Jennifer snapped back. “And do you know about anything from the 1800's? Need I remind you who is in AP history.”

“Yes yes. You are a big nerd, we get it,” Marty snarled back. Jennifer doesn’t take offense. She is proud of her grades and knows that he is pissed cause she is right.

“I may be a nerd,” Jennifer told him. “But you are the one who keeps trying to get into my pants. I know you like me.”

Marty curled his lip as he looked away from her, “Let’s keep moving.”

“You have no idea of a plan do you?” Jennifer sassed.

“I just wing it,” Marty told her with a smirk.

Chapter 24: Spaceman from Pluto (Alien Marty AU)

Notes:

I have not died! I got behind then tons of stuff happened at work, then I wanted to make sure to get cosplays done before my convention that is next weekend.

Alien Marty AU by fiddlestyx

I'm going to say even for a short chapter I'm really starting to like writing in Emmett's POV.

Chapter Text

Emmett Brown has always had a scientific mind. Having a creature from another planet staying under his roof, Emmett wants to learn more. However, once he finally talked to the creature who said his name was Marty, the scientist saw what he really is, a kid on a different planet, now stranded thanks to his ship crashing.

Emmett does want to do his best to help this boy get back home, well after he completes his mission. Emmett was afraid that Marty was going to have to be hidden in his house. Of course the kid had to prove him wrong, by being able to shapeshift into a human.

“Well how else do you expect us to complete our missions if we go around looking like Plutoians?” Marty explained to Emmett.

“Well it at least helps make sure I don’t have you under house arrest,” Emmett said to the boy.

“Yeah,” Marty said. “I’m pretty sure I would go crazy being stuck inside until my ship is fixed.”

Emmett flinched when he said that when his back was turned. Emmett will do his best to fix the ship, but he is worried that he won’t be able to fully fix it and that will safely send him home.

The next step if fixing the ship fails, is that they try to get into contact with people from Marty’s home planet. However, Marty says they won’t answer. He explained that it would be seen as a failure, even if Marty is successful with his pairing up George McFly and Lorraine Baines.

“Besides Doc,” Marty said, calling Emmett by his new nickname. “I know you will be able to fix my ship!”

Emmett knows he is going to try his hardest to fix Marty’s ship so he can go home. If the off chance happens and Marty is stuck here, Emmett will always have room for him. Besides, the kid is growing on him, it wouldn’t be so bad if Marty was to stay on Earth.

Chapter 25: Bedridden twice over (Broken Leg AU)

Notes:

Broken Leg AU by BG Sparrow

Fun fact, when I was 12, I broke my leg. Well it was a hairline crack on my growth plate in my ankle, but I had to have a full leg cast. Well I also had my broken leg around the same time as Marty. I broke it after Thanksgiving and had to have it on during Christmas. On that Christmas I was also sick with a broken leg. So congratulations Marty I am also making you sick too! I feel like I'm doing BG proud making the boy sick.

Chapter Text

“This is the worst,” Marty moaned, sounding stuffed up. He blew his nose and threw the tissue away in the wastebasket Doc sat next to him. It is bad enough that Marty has to stay an extra two months in 1955 because Biff, the asshole, broke Marty’s leg. Now Marty got a cold a week before Christmas.

The time frame of close to Christmas isn’t bothering him, it is the fact he wants the cast off and he is bored out of his mind. Now Marty can’t even breathe properly. “I will appreciate it when I can breathe normally again,” Marty whined.

“It is a cold, it will be gone in a couple days,” Emmett reassured Marty, bringing him some soup.

“You didn’t feel that way two days ago,” Marty teased. He is right, two days ago when Emmett found out Marty was sick he freaked out. Emmett was terrified that Marty had the flu, and didn’t want his future boy to be sick and it being even worse. Then when the two discovered it was just the common cold.

“It is already bad that you have a broken leg,” Emmett explained his case. “But we don’t have the same medical advancements here in the 50s compared to the 80s. So I really don’t want you to have the flu.”

Marty may be teasing Emmett, but it also warms him that Emmett is worried about him. “Thanks Doc,” Marty said smiling. “It means alot that you worry about me. But hey. At least I’m not in 1885 with the flu.”

“Marty! Don’t joke about that!” Emmett exclaimed. “If you got sick in 1885 there is a chance it would be scarlet fever!”

“What is scarlet fever?” Marty asked.

Emmett sighed. He really doesn’t want to scare him, but on the off chance Marty goes against his future self’s orders and goes to 1885, Emmett would want Marty to be prepared just in case.

“Let me get some books.”

Chapter 26: Searching for a name (Amnesia AU)

Notes:

Amnesia AU by fiddlestyx

I enjoy fiddles "What I Left Behind" story, please update soon! And please everyone go read it!

I wanted to work on the scene where Marty takes Doc to the DeLorean. I figured with Marty not having his wallet when he goes to Hill Valley proper, gives a good reason why Doc would take Marty to the DeLorean. Then of course Doc is going to have so much proof shown to him to connect the dots that Marty is a time traveler.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“I could have left my wallet in the car that stalled. I can show you where it is, Doc.”

That is what the boy told Emmett when he couldn’t provide his name to him. Poor kid. I would never wish amnesia on anyone. Though it still confuses Emmett that the boy can’t remember his own name, but somehow knows Emmett, even though Emmett has never met this boy before in his life. Also that he thought Emmett was hurt and is so happy that he is fine.

So now Emmett is driving this kid to his stalled car that is two miles out of Hill Valley.

“There!” The kid exclaimed. “Behind that sign is where I parked it!”

Emmett turned the car to shine his lights onto the car. “Great Scott,” Emmett whispered as he looked at the odd looking vehicle. It is all silver and seemed to have wires and extra components to it.

“I know it is really odd with all the extra stuff on it,” the kid said as he got out of Emmett’s Packard. “Here let’s see if I have a wallet in the car.”

As he got out of the car, Emmett followed. Emmett couldn’t help but jump as the boy opened the door. It lifted up into the air! What kind of car is this?

Emmett leaned forward as the kid looked through the car. Emmett noticed there were monitors all inside of the car, mostly behind the seats. However he saw one that was labeled Destition Time, Current Time, and Last Time Departed. No it can’t be.

Emmett then noticed something that looked familiar in the middle back, it was too dark to see. Then the kid bumped into a knob between the seats. As he made an excited shout the display in front lit up along with the familiar panel. When the panel lit up Emmett recognized it as the design that came to him when he hit his head, to make time travel possible.

Emmett looked back at the monitor that was labeled, with it lit up he saw it say Nov 5, 1995 on the first two and Oct 26, 1985.

“My wallet was in the car,” the kid said holding it. “So my name is Martin Seamus McFly. That doesn’t feel quite right, I think Marty is better. Here you can look!”

Emmett took the wallet from the kid, no Marty, and looked. It did say Martin Seamus McFly, but Emmett zeroed in on his birthday. June 12, 1969. Marty isn’t even born yet! “Um Marty, tell me if you know what year it is.”

“1985?” Marty asked.

“Great Scott!” Emmett exclaimed. “I think you came from 1985, but it is currently 1955.”

“You think I time traveled?” Marty asked. “Doc I don’t think that is possible.”

“This morning I hit my head and came up with this,” Emmett told Marty, as he pulled out his sketch of the flux capacitor. Marty looked at the drawing then back at the car, seeing the design in real life glowing.

Marty swallowed. “Doc,” Marty whispered. “Do you think time travel is why I have amnesia?”

“That is a possibility,” Emmett said, putting a hand on Marty’s shoulder. “Let’s get the car back to my place and see what we can do to help your amnesia and to get you home.”

Notes:

I got four more days to write! (I have the last day done but it needs to wait.) My goal is to see if I can get one or two done before my convention this weekend, but with grades need to be finished first. If not I have Spring Break next week for me to finish up!

Chapter 27: Definitely my son (M4rty AU)

Notes:

M4rty AU by nemmet

This AU is so cute! I know that in Nemmet's story that they mentioned the Jennifer made a slip that she spelled her name J-3 then corrected to J-e, so Jennifer is also a robot, so I went with that.

The main thing I went with was the episode Astro B.O.Y.D. from Ducktales. So when I was thinking about what to write for this AU my mind went to that one scene in the episode, so who is the jerk to reprogram M4rty? Marcus Irving of course. I know in the comics he did get a redemption, but until then he was horrible to Marty (do not get me started about that).

Then I was thinking cause nemmet didn't say who made J3nnif3r (also guessing on the spelling) I wanted it to be Clara. I also hinted at Clara at being a bit like Dr. Wakeman from My Life as a Teenage Robot. Why? The main character is JX-9, or Jenny. When Jenny can be short for Jennifer.

Chapter Text

Clara flinched as J3nnif3r was thrown into a building. She knows that M4rty is going to feel horrible when he knows what he did. Clara doesn’t like to curse, but for Marcus Irving she will make an exception.

How dare he take Emmett’s son, robot or not M4rty is Emmett Brown’s son, and make him cause destruction. The worst part is that you can’t see the glow of M4rty’s heart, Marcus basically took away M4rty’s heart.

Clara looked up to see Emmett and Marcus arguing on Marcus’ floating platform about what Marcus did to M4rty.

“It is a robot Doctor Brown!” Marcus yelled as they fought. “Its purpose is to destroy, not to pretend to be a human.”

Clara had to grimace at that. Part because Marcus is calling M4rty an it, and the other part was Clara once treated J3nnif3r the same way.

“I created him!” Clara whipped her head back to the two doctor’s arguing. “I am the one who programmed him! He is my son and if he wants to be a teenage boy, he can be!”

Clara was shocked when she saw Emmett push Marcus off the platform, but Emmett made sure he fell into something to break his fall. Which happened to be a dumpster.

“AHHHH!” J3nnif3r yelled, as she crashed into the street. M4rty floated above, blank look on his face, ready to destroy J3nnif3r.

Then Emmett moved the platform to be in between M4rty and J3nnif3r. ‘ Emmett, don’t!’ Clara thought, ‘ If you get hurt or worse, it would destroy M4rty.’

“M4rty this isn’t you!” Emmett yelled to his creation. “You aren’t meant to destroy! You are most definitely my son and I love you!”

Clara and J3nnif3r gasped as M4rty flew straight at Emmett, who just stood there.

“EMMETT!” “DOCTOR BROWN!” The two yelled.

However, Emmett was fine. The two saw that M4rty didn’t hurt him, but was hugging him.

“I love you too, Dad,” M4rty said to Emmett. The two pulled away from their hug. Clara and J3nnif3r gave a huge sigh of relief that M4rty’s heart was glowing again.

Emmett brought the platform down, as Clara and J3nnif3r came over to the two. Clara was right about M4rty feeling bad that he ‘hurt’ J3nnif3r, while she was trying to convince him it wasn’t M4rty’s fault. While the two teens talked, Clara smacked Emmett.

“You scared me.”

“Sorry,” Emmett replied. “But I needed to get M4rty back to normal.”

“Well I’m glad he is back to normal,” Clara said. “We will need to get Doctor Irving out of the garbage.”

“Can’t we just leave him there?” Both M4rty and J3nnif3r asked at the same time. Clara and Emmett rolled their eyes at each other that just said ‘teenagers.’

Chapter 28: Panic in the 60s (Stuck in the 60s AU)

Notes:

Stuck in the 60s AU by bri-to-the-future

Oh man I do enjoy this AU alot. It has a bit of 50s Doc from the movies and more of that fatherly Doc we see in the fandom. Of course I like it that we see more of Marty reflecting on how he has been affecting Doc from his first trip though time.

Chapter Text

Marty tried to ignore the giggles when he closed the door. The teen let out a huge sigh into the night air. Honestly, he isn’t upset that Doc can’t be his rock at the moment. He is more sad that the scientist feels that he has to turn to drugs.

Of course it is all my fault, as usual. Marty thought as he kicked a rock as he took a stroll around the newly named John F. Kennedy Drive. He knows Doc wouldn’t tell him directly, but Marty can connect the dots. He just knows he takes the drugs because he has to wait thirty, well now it is like eighteen, years to be with his friend.

The boy’s mind does start to spiral as he turns back around to head back to the garage. With his homesickness, the broken DeLorean, him seeming to always hurt Doc, and that it may take years to fix the DeLorean.

I’ll probably be here for my birth. Marty thought as he opened the door. It took him a while to process what he thought, so he just froze there staring blankly ahead. Oh god. I’ll be here to witness my own birth.

Marty started taking rapid breaths. Tears formed at the corner of his eyes. He tried to walk towards his cot, but his legs were like jelly. He ended up collapsing on the ground, in the process he knocked over something which made a loud noise.

He just laid there taking wheezing breaths as he vaguely heard Doc get up from the couch.

“Marty?” Doc asked, coming around the couch, stumbling from the effects of the drugs. “What is going on?” Doc looked down to see his friend on the ground practically hyperventilating. Newton padded over and cuddled up to the distressed boy.

“Marty, what is wrong?” Doc asked, kneeling down to check on the teen, getting more sober from the distress his friend is in.

Marty wheezed. “I-I’ll be here for my own birth,” Marty forced out, tears running down his face. “W-what if I never get back home?”

“We will fix the DeLorean,” Doc tried to comfort Marty. “Also that is an amazing thing to be apart of something you never was a part of before.”

That was not something Marty wanted to hear, he let out a whine. He is trying McFly. He wants to help. Marty thought. Then a meaner part of him thought, He would do a better job if he wasn’t on the drugs.

“Let’s get you to bed at least,” Doc said, as he helped Marty up. Marty allowed him to help walk him to his cot. Marty flopped down still crying and breathing quickly.

Doc did the only thing he could think of to do, and just run his fingers through his future boy’s hair. Marty did start to calm a bit down at the motion.

Marty felt his eyes droop, tired from the panic attack he had. Right before Marty fell asleep he heard Doc say, “Sorry I can’t take better care of you.”

Chapter 29: We are going to need a bigger house (Brothers AU)

Notes:

Brothers AU

So the prompt list didn't have an exact person but this seems so meta I love it. I did include No Pines by BG-Sparrow, H20 Marty by daryfromthefuture, MerMarty by itsthemorph, Zombie Marty by Jayisnotdrawing, and M4rty by nemmet

Yes I am hinting at what I am doing for Day 31.

Chapter Text

“So you are basically me but a robot that Doc built?” Twine Pines Marty asked M4rty.

“Yep!” M4rty said. “I have a lot of extra features, like I have speakers built in so I don’t need to find an amp to play guitar!”

“Okay that is really cool,” Twin Pines Marty said. Then the two heard arguing.

Zombie Marty walks into the room, “The mermen Martys are fighting again.” All the Martys know this fight, one doesn’t want to be a merman and the other doesn’t understand why he doesn’t.

“QUIT TRYING TO THROW WATER ON ME!” The one who doesn’t want to be a merman screamed.

All of the sudden No Pines Marty ran into the room and slammed the door. He looks wide eye at the others in the room as he leans against the door.

“What is freaking you out?” Zombie Marty asks.

“There is a new Marty,” No Pines tells the others.

“Great, we are going to need a bigger place,” Zombie Marty says.

“Wait, why are you freaking out?” Twin Pines asks. “You were a huge dick to the rest of us when you met us.” Zombie and M4rty both nod their heads.

“He scares me!” No Pines said.

“What is he a Triple Pines version?” Twin Pines asks.

“One don’t encourage them,” No Pines said. “And two he-”

No Pines was cut off at the knock at the door.

Chapter 30: Child Genius (Judge Doc AU)

Notes:

Judge Doc AU by BG-Sparrow

I am a sucker for role reversal AUs. I really love how BG has Marty is still Marty personality wise. Now I will say I still have Marty doing impulsive things because even a child genius Marty it is still Marty. I also love that Doc is still a science nerd (would Emmett still be called Doc?).

This is short but I wanted to leave it open ended. Now I have that all three films still happen, just Marty doesn't mess up his parents meeting. I wanted to keep most of the other stuff in the movies, but this time Marty convinced that Clara should come to 1985 with them.

For Jennifer, they will get together (they are my OTP) but if Marty is a child genius and is at college it is hard meet a girl in high school.

Chapter Text

I was into science, I still am, but father discouraged it. He discouraged me so much he forced me into law school. Even with me experimenting in my youth and some people that showed an interest, I couldn’t afford college without his money. So I had to do law.

Marty remembered that conversation that his landlord, now friend, Judge Emmett Brown told him about his interest in science. Marty would have to agree that Emmett is brilliant and Marty loves that Emmett could keep up with him.

It is a damn shame Emmett was never able to go into science, Marty thought to himself. However, even without formal training and also Emmett’s love for science was a huge factor to help Marty get the DeLorean back to 1985 from 1955 after the disaster that happened at Twin Pine Mall, well Lone Pine. Marty was so happy Emmett listened to him about having a bulletproof vest. Marty doesn’t think he could live with himself if Emmett stayed dead when it was all Marty’s fault.

Marty was the one to make the bad deal and Marty was the one to invite Emmett to the parking lot. Then what does Emmett do? He tries to protect and save the stupid teenager who made the mistakes.

Marty wants to at least do one more nice thing for Emmett. Emmett would argue that he did enough for him. Them being friends to helping Emmett finding the love of his life, Clara. Marty feels like Emmett deserves more.

Marty made sure to do enough research to not majorly affect the timeline. He still shutters at the events that lead Emmett and himself to the 1885 where Emmett met Clara. For a child genius, I make some stupid choices, Marty thought not for the first time. With him buying an almanac in 2015 when Emmett and himself took a trip to the future, Marty is still confused who this Jennifer is that he has kids with. Then Biff from 2015 taking the almanac back to his 1955 self and creating a Hell Valley. Oh it was so jarring finding out Emmett was put into an asylum while Biff was Marty's stepdad, who forced his child genius stepson to make things for his company's R&D department.

Then them going back to 1955 to burn the almanac to prevent Biff taking over, to Emmett getting zapped back to 1885. Marty is again thankful that Emmett had enough science knowledge to have a job back in 1885, a blacksmith, and to cover the DeLorean properly so Marty could fix it with 1955 Emmett. To Marty finding out Emmett got shot! So of course Marty had to go save him. Which lead to them saving Clara, the one good thing. Marty almostly getting shot. Then the three of them going back to 1985.

Marty decided after that he is take a couple months break from time travel. Then last week he had the conversation with Emmett about Emmett's childhood, which inspired him to pull the DeLorean back out.

He knows going back to 1931 wouldn’t prevent Erhardt Brown from sending Emmett to law school, but he could at least give a teenage Emmett a friend who also loves science. It may be a short friendship but he can know there are people out there who would like Emmett for Emmett.

Chapter 31: You know all these AUs just makes me more powerful? (Everything Everywhere All At Once AU)

Notes:

*Cackles* I have been waiting for this day! When I finally watched Everything Everywhere All At Once, I knew I had to make an AU for Back to the Future with it.

If you didn’t guess it, the title of this AU collection is a quote that Jobu Tupaki says to Evelyn in the movie.

Quick FYI if you see the name Máel Sechnaill it is pronounced Maw-il Shakh-nel.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Máel Sechnaill got a fate worse than death, his consciousness was split across all universes.”

Lorraine was trying to drag George, or at least alternate George, that says he is Alpha George, from what he said down the hallway away from the guards. He was starting to lose consciousness. She just wanted the two of them to finish their taxes, now she had to deal with this craziness of first jumps and alternate universes.

Lorraine heard the elevator behind the guards come closer to them. Then the lights started flickering around them.

“Oh no, he is here,” George slurred because of his losing battle to unconsciousness.

“Who is coming?” Lorraine asked.

“Máel Sechnaill,” George said before falling unconscious.

Lorraine stared at the doors as the guards turned to prepare for whoever comes out. Lorraine really doesn’t want to try and fight again. She hated it, but it felt cathartic, fighting Biff. She felt scared like she was back in high school going against Biff, but she also felt good finally fighting back to him.

The doors opened and Lorraine couldn’t help but let her jaw drop. Standing there was her youngest son Marty, in her opinion, wearing a ridiculous outfit.

His hair was longer and shaggier, just past his shoulders. He also had two colored streaks in his bangs, a bright red and snow white. He was wearing his sunglasses. Then his shirt was a simple black with a heart on it, but the jacket. It was a light blue moto jacket but there was so much bling on it, like it could rival an Elvis look. He was also wearing tight black pants that looked like flame trails coming up the legs. His shoes were also weird looking Nikes. They were high tops, but gray and teal that seemed to be glowing.

“You can’t be here,” a guard snapped at Marty.

“Marty?” Lorraine said, “Why are you dressed so stupid?” Marty gave an exasperated look to Lorriane and walked up to the guard.

“See you are wrong there,” Marty said to the guard. “You can see I can physically be here,” he said stepping on the guard’s foot, “What you mean is I am not allowed here.”

What happened now seemed so fast to Lorriane, the guard was knocked away from Marty in an explosion of confetti. Then when the guard tried to shoot at her son, he spinned the third guard like in a dance. Then Marty was in a prince outfit and the guard in a ballgown, and the guard was her son's shield for the bullets. Marty then ran to the guard that shot at him and flipped him to the ground, Marty was in a three point stance looking at her wearing a navy blue bodysuit with spider webs on it.

It then clicked into place for Lorriane. She whispered, “Marty is Máel Sechnaill?”

Marty stood up and was now in a western outfit with a serape. Lorraine did her best to drag George away from Marty- no Máel.

“Come on ma, I just want to talk,” Máel said as he started walking towards Lorriane. As he walked down the hallway the lights kept flickering.

“What do you want to talk about?” Lorraine shouted. “Wait, you are the reason Marty is being defiant. Why he thinks,” then Lorraine whispers the last part, “he may like boys.”

Lorraine swore she heard a record scratch and then dead silence. Máel stopped talking towards her and said, “Seriously? That is the part you are worried about in this universe? That I might be bisexual?”

Lorraine keeps pulling George back as Máel chuckles. “Oh Lorraine. The universe is so much bigger than you realize.”

He starts running towards her again. “Wait! I am still your mother and I have questions!” Lorraine shouted. Máel stopped and stood across from her in the hallway. “Like how did you do all that?” Lorraine shouted pointing back down the hallway.

“I can bring whatever alternate of me to wherever I want,” Máel said leaning against the wall to talk to Lorriane. “I mean every choice we make creates a different universe but also if someone had a new thought of existing people, we have a whole new universe.” Lorraine watches him look to the side like he is looking into a camera, “I mean I have to thank all the people who think up alternate universes, it just makes me more powerful.”

“What do you want with my son!” Lorraine shouted.

“Oh I am still your son,” Máel said getting closer to Lorraine, “I can just feel and connect to all Marty’s in other universes.”

“What?” Lorraine looked confused.

“Oh yeah there are some pretty fucked up-”

“Language!”

“Universes out there,” Máel ignored Lorraine. “Some interesting, and some where I may go to the person who created it and make them suffer like I did in that universe. They have no one to blame but themselves if that happens.”

“Why do you want to destroy everything?” Lorraine asked, wondering why any version of her son wants to do that.

Máel got ready to explain to her when he tensed up as he was hit with a taser. He collapsed. Lorraine looked up to see her father, Sam Baines.

“Dad?” Lorraine asked.

“I’m not your father,” Sam said, “I’m Alpha Sam.”

Lorraine thunked her head on the wall, “Not you too.”

Sam took off his shoe and had George smell it. He woke up immediately and saw Sam, “Sir what are you doing here?”

“We need to go. Follow me,” Sam said as he walked down the hall. George automatically held out his hand for Lorraine and they both followed.

Notes:

Can I say I love Gaelic, it is such a beautiful language but damn how you see one word and you try to pronounce it with reading rules from English and you are so wrong. For example the boy’s name Eóghan is pronounced OH-in like the name Owen. It is confusing. I wanted to have Marty have a different name in Gaelic (cause the McFly’s are from Ireland) like how Joy was called Jobu Tupaki.

I will have a whole thing about my thoughts on an Everything Everywhere All At Once AU with Back to the Future on my tumblr (Stillpreoccupiedwith1985). When I saw we had a free day for JanAury and I knew I had to add this! Then I thought, ‘Wait, if Máel Sechnaill is connected to all universes, wouldn’t us making all these alternate universes just make him stronger?’

So I have to say thank you to daryofthefuture for his rockstar look. BG-Sparrow, professorsaber, and Bri-to-the-future for the prince look. Fiddlstyx for the Spider-Man look.
