Chapter Text
Gossamer curtains in shades of lavender framed an arched doorway with a lotus etched above it in dark wood. The sheer fabric danced in the cooling night air as a pair of lovers lay naked atop a rounded bed, the pleasing scent of their lust swirling in the breeze. Wei Wuxian couldn’t help the smile that colored his visage as he kissed his way up his husband’s naked body, stopping along the way to pay extra attention to the plains of the omega male’s stomach, receiving a soft satisfied sigh from the omega as he did so.
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji whispered, reaching down and threading his fingers through Wei Wuxian’s unbound hair. “I’m up here.”
“Shh.., I’m talking to our son.” Wei Wuxian shushed as he whispered soft words to the tiny life inside his husband’s womb. “I’m letting him know his Baba loves him.”
“He’s too small to hear you, Alpha.” Lan Wangji chuckled, the title making Wei Wuxian growl with need and sit up with a jerk. “Our son doesn’t have ears yet.”
“If you call me that again, I won’t be able to restrain myself, Lan Zhan.” Wei Ying warned, his eyes darkening as he gazed down at his mate. “I want to pamper you tonight and that takes time…,”
“My alpha doesn’t need to pamper me to make me feel good,” Lan Wangji stated, a small smirk forming at the corner of his lips.
“Lan Zhan, you’re so.., so…,” Wei Wuxian panted, dropping down onto his hands and knees, so that he was hovering over his mate, who lay comfortably stretched out on the bed beneath him.
“Wei Ying is talking too much,” Lan Wangji began, placing his hand on the back of Wei Wuxian’s head and jerking him downwards into a heated kiss.
Arching his back off the mattress, Lan Wangji boldly wrapped his legs around his alpha’s waist and forced his mate to collapse down atop him. Four years had passed since the Oracle of Gusu’s veil had been lifted and his life had been bonded to a rogue alpha with no status. What Lan Wangji had seen as a cruel mirror of his mother’s fate, had turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to him. Wei Wuxian was not his father, cold and domineering, and he himself was not a dying bird trapped in a gilded cage like his mother had been. Wei Wuxian had instead saved him from ruin and broken him out of the golden prison the Oracle lived inside.
Shifting his weight to the side, Lan Wangji flipped Wei Wuxian onto his back and brazenly straddled his husband. Most alphas would not take kindly to being forced onto their backs by an omega, but Wei Wuxian laughed with glee as his mate pinned him down with a pair of strong thighs. The submission of his mate made Lan Wangji’s body dampen further with need and his pulse to race. He enjoyed taking control of his alpha, dominating him, and guiding him into the perfect position to bring them both pleasure. It was a dynamic that they both cherished, even if it was unconventional.
“When do you think it happened?” Wei Wuxian asked, his hands finding their ways to his husband’s hips as Lan Wangji sank down on his throbbing cock.
“What?” Lan Wangji asked, a satisfied sigh leaving his lips as he impaled himself on his husband, the stretch making his heart flutter.
“When did we make our son?” Wei Wuxian clarified, “A-Yuan was a honeymoon baby, but when did we make our second child? Your heat was too long ago for it to have been then, and we haven’t had a night alone in weeks..,”
“Night hunt in Yiling, three weeks ago.” Lan Wangji declared as he rolled his hips, pleasured pants leaving his lips as he did so. “A-Yuan stayed home with your brother.”
“We didn’t…,” Wei Wuxian began, a blush coloring his cheeks when he realized what his husband was alluding to. “Oh…, we fucked in the bushes after the hunt. We made a baby in the bushes…,”
“Mn,” Lan Wangji confirmed, his rhythm faltering a bit.
“You’re tired,” Wei Wuxian observed, “Let me take over.”
Lifting himself off his husband, Lan Wangji laid down against the pillows. Wei Wuxian smiled as he excitedly pounced on his mate and settled himself between Lan Wangji’s spread legs. Taking a moment to look down at his husband’s blushing face, Wei Wuxian felt a warmth build inside his chest. He was wholeheartedly in love with Lan Wangji. Before he’d crashed into his mate that night in the garden, his life had been one of lonely nights and empty stomachs. Lan Wangji had given him everything he’d ever longed for, love, family, and a home of his own.
“Wei Ying, stop…,” Lan Wangji scolded, reaching up and covering Wei Wuxian’s eyes with his hand. “You’re staring.”
“I can’t help it,” Wei Wuxian laughed, “My omega is beautiful.”
“Shameless,”
“But, you like it when I’m shameless,” Wei Wuxian teased, removing Lan Wangji’s hand from his eyes and kissing his palm. “Let's be shameless all night.”
Lan Wangji woke later than usual the next morning, much to A-Yuan’s distress. The three year old had been up since dawn, bouncing up and down the halls demanding to see his A-Die and his baby brother. Lan Wangji spent breakfast seated in the garden with his son chattering against his belly and his husband feeding him bites of food with a goofy look on his face. No matter how much he told them the baby wasn’t even baby shaped yet, neither of his boys cared. Their little family was growing and everyone was excited, even himself.
“What is this about a baby?” Lan Qiren’s voice sounded as the Lan elder entered the garden with a set of distressed Jiang Clan servants chasing after him.
“Uncle?” Lan Wangji greeted, “When did you arrive?”
“This morning,” Lan Qiren informed, “I came to retrieve your brother, but he wasn’t in his guest room. Instead, I found your son wandering the halls rambling about a baby brother.”
“It’s still early, but our A-Yuan has had a vision.” Lan Wangji explained, “So have I.”
“A vision?” Lan Qiren repeated, “You have passed on your gift?”
“Mn,”
“We should move him to the temple. He needs training and…,”
“My son stays with his family,” Wei Wuxian interrupted, “He can be trained by Lan Zhan. We don’t need a temple.”
“Wangji…,” Lan Qiren began to argue, but stopped when his nephew shook his head. “I assume he will not be veiled either?”
“No,” Lan Wangji confirmed, “My son will not be locked away. There are ways to protect him without the need to hide his face.”
“Wangji, I’m sorry.” Lan Qiren apologized, surprising his nephew. “I did my best to adhere to the rules of our clan and still make you happy.”
“Uncle was bound by rules,” Lan Wangji replied, “But, he was good to me. There’s no need for an apology.”
“Come meet baby brother!” A-Yuan announced, trotting over to Lan Qiren and taking his hand. “A-Die have baby in tummy.”
“How is baby brother feeling today?” Lan Qiren carefully asked as he allowed the three year old to tug him over to Lan Wangji and force him to sit beside him.
“He happy,” A-Yuan declared, “He warm in tummy.”
“My little radish used to be warm in tummy too,” Wei Wuxian chuckled, scoping his son into his lap and giving him a kiss atop the head. “A-Die’s tummy is very comfortable for babies.”
“It seems so,” Lan Qiren said, thoughtfully stroking his beard, “How many children to you plan on having, Wangji?”
“I had not thought of a number,” Lan Wangji replied, taking a sip of his tea. “Two seems like enough. A-Yuan will have a brother to keep him company, as I did.”
“No, two is not enough.” Lan Qiren dismissed, waving his hand. “Four or five…, maybe six…,”
“We could try for six,” Wei Wuxian playfully teased, causing Lan Wangji to frown.
“While I would enjoy the conception of six, my body would not enjoy the birthing of that many pups,” Lan Wangji grimaced, the first part of his sentence making his uncle cough and Wei Wuxian cover A-Yuan’s ears. “Depending on how well this pregnancy goes, I would consider four.”
“Baba, ears hot!” A-Yuan complained, making Wei Wuxian release his ears. “I dream of little sister too. She bring Baba flowers in dream. Baba cried”
“Why was Baba crying in your dream?” Lan Qiren asked, sounding concerned. “Where was your A-Die?”
“A-Die burry baby,” A-Yuan pouted, “Baby not moving.”
“Wangji, I’m sorry.” Lan Qiren whispered, reaching out and placing a hand on his nephew’s shoulder. “Losing a child…,”
“Baby bunny go sleep and not wake up,” A-Yuan continued, “He sick. Make everybody cry.”
“Our little radish shouldn’t be having such sad dreams,” Wei Wuxian told his son, gently stroking his hair. “Only happy thoughts should be in your head.”
“The Oracle doesn’t control what he sees,” Lan Wangji said, “My visions have been more pleasant since leaving my temple, but that does not change the fact that the most powerful spiritual visions are often of death.”
“Wangji’s first vision was of his mother,” Lan Qiren began, sorrow in his voice. “A small child should not see such horrible things.”
“Is there any way to prevent A-Yuan from seeing such things?” Wei Wuxian earnestly questioned, worry in his gaze as continued to tenderly play with his son’s long dark hair.
“Raise him like a normal child. Show his love and expose him to good things,” Lan Qiren advised, “I did my best to do those things for Wangji, but the laws of the time did not allow for much normalcy.”
“Uncle is right,” Lan Wangji agreed, “We can only try our best to avoid the resentment that comes with such visions.”
“I know a lot about resentful energies, you know.” Wei Wuxian pondered, “Maybe I could create something to help…,”
“Wei Wuxian, do not dabble in resentment and death again,” Lan Qiren warned, “The other clans have been watching you closely since the war. They are looking for a reason to separate you from the Oracle. Do not give them an excuse to see you as a threat to peace.”
“I don’t care about clan politics and power,” Wei Wuxian huffed in annoyance, “My only concern now is the safety of my family. If I ever return to demonic cultivation, it would be to protect Lan Zhan and our children, no other reason.”
“While I know this, and the Lan Clan knows this, the other clans do not,” Lan Qiren warned, “Do not act rashly.”
“Acting rashly is Wei Wuxian’s specialty,” Jiang Cheng stated as he stepped into the garden with Lan Xichen trailing behind him.
“True, if I hadn’t been acting rashly, I wouldn’t have scaled a garden wall and met my husband,” Wei Wuxian chuckled.
Taking a seat on the soft grass with the others, Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen joined their family for a calm breakfast. Lan Wangji hid a soft smile behind his teacup as he watched his family around him. Everything was well with the world, the clans were in relative peace, and he felt a happiness he’d never imagined could be part of his life. If he’d had a vision of this future when he was a child, he’d have done everything in his power to make it come true.
“Why is he smiling like that?” Jiang Cheng whispered in Wei Wuxian’s ear. “Your husband never smiles. He’s kind of freaking me out.”
“I’m happy, Sect Leader Jiang.” Lan Wangji spoked, schooling his expression. “One smiles when they are happy.”
“Jiang Cheng’s never happy, so he doesn’t know what a smile looks like,” Wei Wuxian teased, causing Jiang Cheng to smack him on the back of his head. “Ow!”
“I have not seen my brother smile like that since we were children,” Lan Xichen observed, “It is comforting to know that he had found his happiness.”
“And, have you found your happiness, Brother?” Lan Wangji asked, “I wish happiness for you too.”
“I am content,” Lan Xichen reassured, “Do not worry for me, Wangji. But, I do wish you’d consider moving back to Gusu for the duration of your pregnancy.”
“Mn, I will consider it,” Lan Wangji agreed, “If my alpha agrees.”
“I’ll agree with anything that makes you happy,” Wei Wuxian dismissed, “You’re in charge here, not me.”
“Shouldn’t an alpha be the one making the decisions for his omega?” Jiang Cheng asked, “Right?”
“First of all, anything Lan Zhan wants I agree with, so it’s my decision too.” Wei Wuxian began, scooting closer to his mate and placing a kiss on his cheek. “Second, he’s the Oracle of Gusu. Who am I to argue with the most powerful spiritual tool in any sect?”
“Wei Ying, is entitled to argue if he wishes,” Lan Wangji reminded his mate, “We are partners, equals…,”
“We are,” Wei Ying agreed with a nod, “And, if you wish to go back to Gusu, A-Yuan and I will gladly follow.”
“The healers there do know my body well,” Lan Wangji stated, causing his Uncle to smile beside him.
“We will prepare your temple,” Lan Qiren began, but he was interrupted by Lan Xichen.
“We can send the healers to Lotus Pier,” Lan Xichen proposed instead.
“What does my alpha want?” Lan Wangji asked his mate, “I am content to carry my child anywhere as long as his father is with us this time.”
“Then, stay here.” Wei Wuxian decided, “Stay in our home by the lotus pond. Our son will be born in winter and it’s warmer in Lotus Pier than Gusu. The snow won’t be good for your condition.”
“Then, it’s decided.” Lan Wangji agreed, “We will stay here.”
“I’m moving to Lotus Pier until the child is born, maybe a bit longer,” Lan Qiren declared, standing up with a flourish and stalking out of the garden. “I will send for my things.”
“I should inform the servants to prepare accommodations,” Jiang Cheng grumbled, standing up and offering his hand to Lan Xichen.
“I’m sorry, Uncle can be very stubborn.” Lan Xichen apologized, allowing himself to be helped to his feet and led from the garden.
“Something funny is going on between those two,” Wei Wuxian observed, “But, I can’t put my finger on it. A-Yuan, what do you feel…,”
“Wei Ying, do not use our son to spy on your brother’s feelings.” Lan Wangji scolded, though there was humor in his voice.
“What’s the use of an empath radish, if I can’t use him to spy on my brother.” Wei Wuxian joked, pinching his son’s cheek, before addressing his mate once more. “Everything’s going to be alright from now on isn’t it, Lan Zhan?”
“I have not had any visions to indicate the safety of the future, but in my heart I know we will be fine,” Lan Wangji reassured, “I know everything will be alright.”
“I don’t regret tearing off your veil that night, Lan Zhan. I’d do it again a thousand times if it gave me this.” Wei Wuxain suddenly declared, “I would crawl through fire to keep this family safe. This is my home. You and our children are my home.”
THE END
“I love you too, Wei Ying.” Lan Zhan replied, leaning forwards and placing a soft kiss on his alpha’s lips. “And, I’d let you tear my veil a thousand times over if it led me here. You and our children are my happiness.”
