Chapter Text
Tony Stark was not afraid of dying.
Truly, he wasn’t. So when he snapped his fingers holding all the infinity stones in his hand he knew that death was a possibility but he also knew that he’d do anything to give Pepper, Morgan and the Spiderkid an opportunity to continue to live in a world where they could be safe. Safe to live, safe to grow, safe to thrive.
So Tony Stark snapped his fingers and accepted death like an old friend, feeling the ghost of Pepper’s lips on his cheek right before he died. It was worth it. The world was saved, Thanos was no more. Tony could rest.
So when his eyes snapped open and he hit himself with the window of what seemed to be a small plane, he was very confused. Running his hand through what seemed to be long hair was downright baffling and the fact that the speakers of the plane mentioned that he’d be touching down in Seattle of all places was just wrong.
An hour after waking up and having a small meltdown in the ladies’ bathroom of all places, Tony waiting for his next plane. Because of course Seattle wasn’t his final destination. No, according to Tony’s plane ticket he was going to somewhere called Forks… which sounded strangely familiar.
So to recap. Tony Stark, Iron Man… had died after wielding the infinity stones and had woken up as a teenage girl named Isabella Marie Swan who was on her way to some place called Forks in Washington. He had a small flip phone on his person and according to the date on his plane ticket the date was the 17th of January of 2005. The world must’ve hated him.
All in all, it was not as bad. Tony was not used to being a teenage girl, but he could pretend it was all a fake it till you make it with him and until he knew more about this girl, he’d be running in the dark. When he got on the plane he rummaged through his bag, finding a diary and smiling to himself as he cracked it open and began reading about what was now his life.
It took it less than twenty minutes to decide that Bella’s life sucked. It sucked real bad, the girl had the personality of a wet rug and it showed, even in her personal diary. But then again, Tony had been presented with the perfect opportunity to change it.
He was moving in with the girl’s dad, a man who saw her only once a year and had no way of knowing how much of a personality ‘Bella’ had developed over the last couple of months. So if Isabella was suddenly going to become incredibly interested in cars and such, it was Tony’s business. The diary was very helpful, since he now knew the name of his new dad. A police chief named Charlie Swan. There was even a photo of the man stuck somewhere in the diary, with a younger Bella in a fishing boat.
Tony had to admit that he was very proud of the mustache that Charlie sported and silently mourned his own beard. He was never going to be able to grow a beard again… which sucked, but he’d deal with it… eventually.
He spotted Charlie almost immediately as he walked out of the gate pushing his small trolley. It was weird answering to the name Bells, but Tony decided that Charlie was actually a nice man who was trying his best to be a good father and that was golden in Tony’s book. Surprisingly on their way back to Forks from Port Angeles, Tony found himself talking to Charlie about cars.
The man seemed surprised by Bella’s new interest in cars, but was more than happy to keep the conversation flowing, especially when Tony told him that he was planning on opening his own mechanic shop in Forks. Because Tony Stark was nothing if not adaptable and he needed a stable income, pronto.
So Tony Stark had a plan, he’d finish this year of schooling by actually entirely finishing schooling while planning on going on college. Although that plan changed ever so slightly when he saw Charlie’s face falling at the idea of Tony leaving so soon after finally moving in. So again, Tony was adaptable… and getting attached way too soon. But he was going to finish school, open his mechanic shop and stay in Forks with Charlie. Who needed a college degree anyways? Not Tony Motherfukcing Stark anyway.
All in all, Tony should have been more observant of his surroundings, but to be fair he had been distracted with the whole dying and waking up as a teenage girl in a different world where Tony Stark didn’t exist as a person and dial up internet connection was still a thing (he hated it). He also had several things in mind, like actually fixing up the piece of scrap that masqueraded as a red pickup truck and selling it forward to get a decent car, setting up his Mechanic Shop and figuring out how Charlie’s coffee thing worked.
Because that had been a conversation. Tony didn’t know how to cook anything other than slightly burnt eggs… Charlie was a very basic person when it came to food. So Tony could easily see the two of them living on cereal and coffee… which was not ideal, so he also needed to sort that out.
The sound that the pickup truck made as Tony drove himself to school that morning grated on his nerves. He really needed to get around fixing it, if only he could get the proper tools, he’d have to add scavenging to his ever growing list of things to do. So when he found a parking space and finally turned off the red beast he enjoyed the silence. He’d also need to see if Charlie had any decent cassette tapes. Maybe Charlie was a fan of decent music.
Tony made his way into the main office cursing the rain and the cold under his breath and then proceeded to charm the secretary into allowing him to test out most of the syllabus. Tony Stark wouldn’t spend more than the necessary time in school, thank you very much. So Mrs. Cope had been helpful to set him a schedule so that she could talk to the teachers so that he could be tested and see which subjects he could drop (hopefully all of them).
With his timetable in hand Tony proceeded to avoid students and make it to his first class of the day. It seemed that everyone and their mother knew about Bella Swan arriving in Forks. And it also seemed that the school was so small that everyone knew what to look for and while Bella Swan was as pale as any kid in the school she was technically new blood.
Tony being Tony knew how to deal with people, so he effortlessly waved off the students that tried to approach him. Class was as boring as Tony figured it would be, so he had extra motivation to get the hell out. By the time he walked into the cafeteria for recess and was ushered into a table by a girl named … Jasmine, or something like that. Jasmine was a chatterbox and Tony was more than happy to remain silent and allowed her to fill the space with her voice.
“And there’s the Cullens.”
Tony’s brain came to a stop as something seemed to connect, a memory resurfacing from one of his conversations with Peter. It had been something that Peter did, ramble on about all the things. And the kid was always talking about new media, so Tony could remember names and things. Cullen had been something that Peter had mentioned.
“Sorry, what?”
“The Cullens, Doctor Cullen’s family,” Jasmine explained and proceeded to explain everything she knew about the Cullen family, much to Tony’s growing horror.
It made no sense. It made absolutely no sense and yet… Tony had basically discovered time travel, he had saved the world using magical rocks from space, he was friends with a demigod. So… suddenly realizing that he was stuck in one of the stories that Peter used to read. So Tony came to the bitter realization that yes, his life was possibly a joke.
His life was a joke and now there were teenage vampires in it… and furries, if he recalled correctly. He eyed the table where the vampires were seated and tried to remember all of the things that Peter had complained about. He remembered that Peter was firmly Team Edward, that much Tony remembered. Peter had complained enough about Edward being a toxic boyfriend to Bella, who was now Tony.
So Tony knew that he’d keep himself firmly away from the toxic vampire. He was Tony Stark, he didn’t do teen drama. He left the cafeteria before lunch ended and made his way back to the main office to speak to Mrs. Cope because he did remember Peter complaining about Edward wanting to kill Bella in biology class and Tony had biology class after recess and he was not going to die, if only because Charlie had just recently gotten his daughter back and Tony would be damned before he left the kind man alone in the world.
Mrs. Cope was hilariously easy to charm and Tony briefly wondered about the state of America’s education system, but he didn’t care much for it as he drove out of the parking lot, because there was no way that he’d be taking a gym class ever again in life. Ever.
Before driving back home Tony remembered that Charlie had asked him to stop by the supermarket and had actually given Tony money for it. Thing is, for the life of him, Tony couldn’t remember ever having to go to a supermarket… but how hard could it possibly be?
Turns out that it was really hard. There were many brands and many things and Tony was completely lost trying to decide which brand of canned tuna was best because apparently it came in water and oil and Tony wasn’t sure which one was best. Why would you need two types of canned tuna anyway? And don’t even get him starting on washing products, there was a whole aisle full of those.
Tony wondered if Thor had ever felt this way while living on Earth. Because Tony felt like a fish out of water in the worst sense. He was about to give up and just go home and try later when a kind voice got him out of his thoughts. He looked to his side only to see a really beautiful woman that strangely reminded him of his mother (Maria Stark that was) in all of her elegant glory. And then he noticed her eyes, golden eyes. Another vampire, maybe from the same vampire family that was in school… Vampire mom? There was a mom, possibly.
“Do you need any help?” Vampire mom asked.
Tony nodded at her, first because he did need help and second because he figured that Vampire mom was safe to meet rather than a toxic teen vampire.
“I really have no idea what I’m doing,” Tony admitted, “but I can’t disappoint the old man,” he laughed nervously, scratching the back of his head.
“Do you have a list?” Vampire mom asked.
“Uh, yeah, here you go,” Tony said, handing his crumpled list to vampire mom. He hoped that she could read his chicken scratch.
As it turned out, Vampire Mom could read his list and was very helpful, explaining to Tony the different products and the food he had chosen. He had bashfully admitted that he and Charlie couldn’t cook, hence all the canned and premade food. Vampire Mom, whose name was Esme, was a godsend and reminded Tony way too much of Maria. Not that he’d tell her, but it was pretty nostalgic to see her.
“I’m finishing school early,” Tony said to Charlie when the man sat down at the kitchen table, opening the bags from the diner.
Tony had already dug into his burger and was staring at Charlie trying to gauge the man's reaction.
“What?” Charlie asked, looking at Tony.
“I’m testing out the rest of the grade and senior year too… I don’t like school… at all, so I’m going to test it out and just focus on my mechanic shop. It's going to be the best one in all of Forks, so there’s that.”
“And college?” Charlie asked curiously.
“Don’t need a college degree to fix a car, dad,” Tony said, barely even hesitating at using the word dad, “By the way do you have any tools I could use to fix up the truck, it has an irritating noise that’s driving me insane.”
“Tell you what, Bells, Jacob wants to be a mechanic and has a workshop in the back of his house, why don’t you drive down to La Push after school tomorrow and go to Billy’s house?”
“Uh… I don’t really remember where Billy’s house is,” Tony replied.
“How about I take you there on the weekend then?”
Tony smiled at the man, “sounds great.”
“Are you sure you can test out of school, Bells?” Charlie asked after a while.
“Of course I can,” Tony said smugly.
Charlie didn’t look entirely enthusiastic but didn’t try to contradict Tony. That night Tony spent the rest of his time messing up with the outdated computer and began the base file for JARVIS’ code, because Tony could have been stuck in a strange world with Vampires and such, there was no way he was going to miss the opportunity to bring Jarvis online to take over the internet while it was still under development.
The week was long, but Tony managed to get a schedule with all the tests that he’d be taking along with being allowed to skip the classes for self study in the small library of the school, which meant unlimited access to the school computers, which Tony made use of. By the time the week was over Tony had a rough version of Jarvis’ full code and had tested out of three school subjects.
He was also surprised to have remembered that Jacob was the furry that was in a love triangle with Bella and the toxic vampire, so he also needed to deal with that in a timely manner.
Chapter Text
Tony decided that the world probably hated him.
He had been in Forks for about a week, Charlie hadn’t been able to drive him down to the reservation because something had come up at the station. Instead Tony had spent his weekend figuring out how to load a dishwasher without damaging his clothes… it had been an interesting experience, especially since Tony possibly hated every single piece of clothes that Bella Swan owned.
Instead, Tony had found Charlie’s collection of old band t-shirts and had stolen them and had been wearing them, styling them with flannel shirts and his parka. He briefly wondered if Bella Swan was a Mormon, since most of her clothing seemed to fit the type. A google search later showed that most of those clothes could be donated and Charlie had told him that there was a second hand store in Port Angeles that they could visit once Charlie had time. Tony could live with that.
He would donate all of Bella’s boring clothes and would get his band t-shirts and several good pairs of jeans and sneakers, he was partial to converse or vans. That said, that wasn’t why the world hated Tony Stark, not at all.
It was fucking snowing.
Tony hated… HATED… cold places. Ever since the Mandarin debacle, or the Siberia Stunt or the whole Space Mission from Hell. Tony couldn’t really stand cold places, which was now a problem, because he was sure that Charlie wouldn’t move to a place like Malibu since the man loved the small town that he inhabited and Tony had decided that he was not going to abandon Charlie.
Charlie didn’t deserve being abandoned. Charlie was a good dad and Tony had had the man for a whole ass week. If anything ever happened to Charlie, Tony was going to destroy the world and kill himself afterwards. Nobody was hurting Charlie Swan on Tony Stark’s watch.
Tony had also managed another miracle during the weekend, which was to get Charlie to call him Izzy or Bells instead of Bella. Izzy was closer to Tony, less feminine than Bella. Izzy Swan was a cool name worthy of Tony Stark. The school also knew him as Izzy Swan now, Izzy Swan the silent recluse who spent all of his… or her time in the library.
The whole being in a teenage girl’s body hadn’t gotten any less weird for Tony but he was working on it. The boobs tended to throw off his balance whenever he forgot to wear a bra, and he absolutely hated the cotton monstrosities that Bella had in hand… that was another thing that Tony needed to buy… decent and functional underwear, sports bras needed to be a must in his household.
But back to the problem at hand.
It was snowing. Thankfully for Tony, Charlie, the angel that the man was, had placed snow chains on Tony’s tires, so Tony was not afraid of driving down the snow covered roads. Not really, the thing was, he was late for class. He obviously blamed the coffee machine, which hated him, Tony was sure of it. He couldn’t wait until he had Jarvis up and running around the house and making Tony’s coffee for him, the less he had to deal with Charlie’s coffee machine the better… and as soon as Tony managed to get the mechanic shop up and running Tony was going to buy the man a decent coffee machine.
Tony was running late and it showed as he drove into the packed parking lot, he was about to pick a parking space for his red monstrosity when he heard a screech and turned his head to see an old van speeding towards his truck. Yes, the world hated him.
He sighed as he floored the thing, getting it out of the way before the other car could hit him. His truck ended up in the grass after going over the small wall that Tony barreled over. He had to give it to the truck, the thing was a tank. Tony put the truck in park, making sure to pull on the emergency brake before he got out.
The van had barreled over the edge of the parking lot and was laying on its side on the other side of the grass. Tony winced at the sight of it and eventually his hero complex won him out and he ran towards the van and the rest of the students that were now crowding it. He caught sight of… Jessamine and waved his hand to get her attention.
“Is he okay?” Tony asked the girl.
“Yeah, Mike and the others are getting him out, are you okay? You crashed into the small wall there, Izzy,” Jasmine sounded concerned on Tony’s behalf, he was slightly touched by it.
“What, me? I’m fine, that truck can probably take on an apocalypse,” Tony said with a shrug and offered Jennifer a smile.
She returned the smile and Tony quietly removed himself afterwards, observing as an ambulance and the police arrived at the scene. He foolishly thought he was on the clear until one of the students mentioned the red truck and one of the paramedics saw the truck and the wall that Tony had barreled through.
“Miss Swan?” the paramedic called him over.
Tony sighed and approached, “Yes?”
“You were also involved in the accident?”
“Uh, no, I removed myself from the accident before I ended like shish kebab,” Tony told the man who smiled amusedly at him.
“We would feel better if you were to be seen by a doctor, Miss,” the paramedic told him.
“Is it necessary? Nothing happened to me,” Tony told the man.
In theory, nothing had happened to Tony, he was not even bleeding around the teenage vampires. Sure, perhaps the steering wheel digging into his stomach was going to leave a bruise… but no one needed to know about that one right? Tony was used to bruises and scratches.
“You’re the Chief’s daughter, Miss Swan, it is slightly necessary,” the man said. He was young, Tony observed, with blue eyes that somehow reminded Tony of Steve Rogers, it was a conflicting emotion.
“Fine,” Tony said after a moment of deliberation and followed the paramedic into one of the ambulances, “you know, you look like a Steve, can I call you Steve? I’ll be calling you Steve now, that’s your new name.”
The paramedic smiled at Tony and nodded along to everything Tony said. It was nice. The trip to the hospital was short, in fact, Steve the Paramedic probably spent more time convincing Tony to lie down on the gurney than the whole drive. In the end Tony decided to be nice, because he was nice like that and told Paramedic Steve about all the injustices of being wheeled into the hospital’s emergency room when he was completely fine.
Tony said goodbye to Paramedic Steve when the man handed him over to a nurse and he was very patient when the nurse began prodding at him. He was relieved to see the boy that had been driving the van… it was something with a T… Terrence? It was probably Terrence… Terrence it was. So Terrence was alive, although a bit banged up. Tony waved at him as the boy was wheeled away from her.
Charlie actually took that moment to walk into the emergency room looking frazzled, calming a bit when he caught sight of Tony kicking his legs on the stretcher that he was seated on while the nurse checked him over. He smiled at Charlie.
“Bells, are you alright?” Charlie asked once he reached my stretcher.
“Sure thing, dad, Paramedic Steve just thought that it was a good idea,” Tony told him with a shrug.
“Paramedic Steve?” Charlie asked, puzzled.
“Aiden,” the nurse supplied, a smile on her face.
Charlie looked at Tony, an eyebrow raised.
“He looks like a Steve,” Tony said with a smile. He was about to say something else when a rather pleasant voice interrupted him.
“I heard the chief’s daughter was here.”
Tony looked back to see perhaps the most beautiful creature that he had ever seen walking towards him. And Tony had seen Thor who was a god, but Thor was handsome, manly, big. This man in front of Tony was something else entirely… he figured that this had to be the vampire Doctor and that his teenage hormones were playing jokes on him, Tony scowled to himself.
“Doctor Cullen,” Charlie said, greeting the vampire doctor.
The doctor smiled at Charlie and looked at the nurse, “I’ve got this one, Jackie,” the nurse was more than happy to hand over Tony’s file to the doctor and leave them, “Isabella,” vampire doctor said, looking over the files.
“Izzy,” Tony corrected him.
The man finally looked up from the files and Tony saw the familiar golden gaze on him, “Izzy, well… it looks like in theory everything’s good, how do you feel?”
“Just dandy, Doc,” Tony said with his best smile.
The doctor returned the smile and pulled out a small light from his pocket checking on Tony’s eyesight.
“And you didn’t harm yourself when you got your vehicle out of the way?” Doctor Cullen asked, looking at Tony.
“Not really, I was wearing my seatbelt,” Tony said wondering if somehow the vampire could sense Tony’s likely bruising.
“The steering wheel didn’t hit you?” vampire Doctor pressed on.
“Just a bit, barely even felt it,” Tony told the man.
The doctor raised an eyebrow at Tony, “may I?”
Tony sighed and nodded, lifting up the Harley Davison shirt that he had taken from Charlie, he managed not to wince when he felt the cold fingers on the upper part of his stomach.
“That’s some heavy bruising you’ve got there,” the doctor commented.
“Barely even felt it,” Tony muttered, “maybe it was the adrenaline?” he offered.
“Perhaps,” the Doctor agreed, “I’ll prescribe you something for the pain.”
“Thanks, Doc,” Tony said, he was not fond of pain meds, but he figured that this body didn’t have his old vices.
It took a couple more minutes before Doctor Cullen actually let Tony go, Charlie hovering around like a concerned mother hen. Tony had to admit that it felt… nice… not having worried Charlie with an accident, but the fact that Charlie cared so much.
“Can we stop for cheeseburgers on our way home?” Tony asked Charlie, stepping out of the hospital.
Charlie looked at him, a smile tugging at his lips, “you know what, Bells, cheeseburgers sound nice.”
Charlie wrapped an arm around Tony’s shoulders and if Tony all but melted into Charlie’s side it was his problem and not anyone else’s.
That same weekend, Charlie managed to get some time off to get Tony to the reservation, especially since they needed to get the truck there so that it could be checked over and fixed. Tony had promised Charlie that as long as he had the correct tools he could fix it, not that Charlie believed him, not entirely, but it was nice to see Charlie smiling at him with amusement.
Tony stepped out of Charlie’s cruiser wearing another of Charlie’s stolen pieces, a big baseball themed sweater this time, it was cozy and Charlie had smiled when he’d seen Tony in it, so all in all, Tony counted it as a win. He was also wearing the parka and a scarf since it was incredibly cold. He truly hated the cold.
A man on a wheelchair slid out of the red house, followed by a teenager. The teenager was tall and gangly with really long hair, it suited him.
“Bells, you remember Billy and Jacob,” Charlie said with a smile.
Tony nodded dutifully, he didn’t know who these people were but again, Bella’s diary was a small well of information. So he plastered his best smile forward.
“Of course, how are Rachel and Rebecca? Are they around?” he asked.
Billy smiled at Tony, “they are good, Rachel is up at Washington State University and Rebecca is living in Hawaii now, she’s married.”
“Oh… that's good for them,” Tony said, still being pleasant, “how about you, Jacob?”
“Jake,” Jacob corrected him, “same old, Bella.”
“Izzy,” Tony corrected him back.
Jake smiled at him and Tony smiled back.
“So, dad tells me that you want to be a mechanic?” Tony asked curiously, he eyed Charlie who was talking to Billy and wheeling the man back into the house.
“Yeah, I'm fixing up an old Rabbit, it's back in the garage, I’m saving up to buy parts,” he said, sounding excited.
“Can I see it?” Tony asked.
“Sure,” the kid sounded a bit too eager for Tony’s tastes, but Tony still followed the kid towards the garage so that he could show him the car.
Tony let the kid speak for a while, talking specs while he examined the car, it had an engine and honestly Tony had seen worse, the car didn’t have tires… or a front mirror… and it was an off red color that made Tony want to puke… but since it was a work in project, Tony could respect it.
“Hand me that wench,” Tony told the kid as he stood in front of the engine.
“You know how to fix cars?” the kid asked skeptically.
“Yeap, I’m actually planning to open a Mechanic Shop in Forks,” Tony told him, taking the wench from the kid’s hand.
“You?”
Tony looked up from the engine to give the kid a flat look, “yes, me… and I’ll have you know that I’ll be very strict on employee relationships, can’t be having a problem with HR or god forbid a lawsuit, which means that if you want to work for me you need to get over that crush that you have on me.”
The kid spluttered and Tony laughed and extended his hand to the kid.
“Friends?”
The kid took his hand and shook it, “friends… you are incredibly weird, Izzy Swan.”
Tony smirked at the kid, “I am… Now, does the battery work?”
“Ah… I think it should, why?”
“Try to start it, I want to see something.”
The kid did as he was told and Tony felt incredibly pleased with himself when the engine did start.
The kid turned the car off and walked to Tony, eyes wide and a surprised look on his face.
“You did that?”
“I did that,” Tony said smugly.
The kid laughed and Tony couldn’t help but to laugh along. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Chapter Text
Tony Stark was determined. So once he could actually get the truck to the reservation he did so at the first opportunity and began fixing the red monstrosity with Jacob’s tools. If Tony Stark had built an arc reactor with a box of scraps and a car battery attached to his chest in a dingy old afghan cave then Izzy Swan could fix the annoying sound of the red truck, and fix the engine so that it could go over 60mph. Tony had never missed his car collection as much as he did right now.
“Izzy, will you be wanting pizza?” Jacob asked, entering the garage.
“Sure, there should be money for food in my bag, so make sure to order breadsticks,” Tony said without looking up from the engine that he was working on.
His long brown hair was pulled back hastily in what Tony called a ‘messy’ bun and he was wearing a tank top and the one sport bra that he had found at a store, he needed to get more of those. His jeans and said tank top were stained with oil but Tony felt strangely at home. Sure, Bella’s arms were too delicate and couldn’t do much heavy lifting, but Tony could get fit, he was young, there had to be a gym around somewhere… especially since most of the kids around the reservation seemed to be jacked.
As he worked on the truck he felt a presence next to him, but since it was probably Jacob he decided to ignore it. He was very surprised to hear Jacob’s voice from far away as he called her to inform her that the pizza had arrived and was even spooked to see a man standing next to him.
“Uh… hello?” he said, removing his oil stained hands from the engine.
“So Charlie was not joking, you want to be a mechanic,” the man said.
Tony tilted his head to the side, “who are you?”
The man looked confused for a moment, “it’s me, Harry, Bella.”
“Izzy,” Tony corrected him, “and… I honestly don’t remember, you’re a friend of dad’s you say?”
“Yes, Leah’s father,” the man offered.
Tony remembered reading about Leah in Bella’s diary… Right, about mudcakes and fishing trips.
“Ah… that Harry,” Tony said flatly, “and yeah, I’m going to open a shop in Forks.”
“So you know what you’re doing then?”
“Obviously,” Tony crossed his arms and stared flatly at the man.
“Think you can check what’s wrong with my car then?” Harry asked after a moment.
“Sure,” Tony said, feeling more amenable.
Harry followed Tony back into Jacob’s house, Bill was already in the kitchen and Harry greeted his friend and made himself at home. Tony also made himself at home after washing his hands and the three men stared at him. Tony stared back at them, the pizza was up on the counter, none of them moved until Jacob laughed and went to get the pizza and some paper plates.
Tony was frowning when Jacob sat back down placing the pizza in the middle of the table.
“What’s so funny?” Tony asked Jacob.
“Nothing,” Jacob said, still smiling.
Tony decided to ignore it for the time being and ate his fill before returning to the garage to get some tools to check Harry’s car. Jacob walked right behind him, still entirely too amused for Tony’s comfort.
“Are you going to tell me why you’re laughing?” Tony asked, popping up the hood of Harry’s car.
Jacob smiled, “it’s just… Dad and Harry were sort of expecting you to serve the pizza and such.”
“Uh… why? I’m a guest here,” Tony said, looking up from the engine, a frown on his face.
“You’re a girl, Izzy,” Jacob said with a shrug.
Tony raised an eyebrow at that, “and?”
“Nothing, nothing,” Jacob said, lifting his arms in a peace motion.
“Right,” Tony said… he briefly wondered if he was experiencing sexism. He didn’t like it… he didn’t like it one bit… damn… Pepper really deserved to be paid more… Natasha too… Natasha was probably somewhere in the afterlife laughing at Tony right now. He probably deserved it too.
“What’s wrong with Harry’s car?”
“He needs a new compressor, this one’s bust… if he gets one I can replace it in like an hour and It’ll be as good as new,” Tony said with a shrug.
Jacob nodded, “did you manage to fix what you needed with your truck, you were fiddling with it a lot.”
“Oh, that old thing, yes… that annoying sound should be gone now, and it should go faster, I’ll let you know on Wednesday when I come back… no wait, I have tests, I should be able to return on Friday, if Harry has the compressor by then, I’ll replace it,” Tony said, “then we can continue to work on your rabbit.”
“Neat!” Jacob said with a grin.
X
Tony decided that truck noise or not, he still hated school, not that one thing needed to do anything with the other, he just hated school and was glad that he was going to test out of it with outstanding grades. He also decided that Jocasta and Lorraine were exhausting, and that the Mitchel and Errol kids were annoying. Tony deserved to be canonized after this, a fast pass to heaven, if such a thing existed.
He also managed to avoid the vampires… right until the blonde bombshell drove a cherry red BMW to school that had Tony almost drooling. He missed his cars so much. So the blonde bombshell had caught Tony making eyes at the car.
“You like cars?” a musical voice spoke next to Tony almost spooking him.
Tony looked to his side to see the blonde bombshell staring at him with a look of barely concealed disdain on her face.
“Love cars,” Tony said, “I’m going to open a mechanic shop here in Forks after I finish testing out of school… so you’re welcome to bring this beauty any day for maintenance.”
The vampire scoffed, “what makes you think I’d let my car be handled by an amateur?”
“Firstly, offended,” Tony said, trying his best to not smile, “secondly, not an amateur, not to toot my own horn but I am a bit of a prodigy when it comes to cars.”
“That remains to be seen,” Blondie remarked.
“Give me the benefit of the doubt and I’ll show you,” Tony said with a shrug.
Blondie gave him a look, as if she was weighing the worth of Tony’s words.
“I just might.”
“Neat, well, see ya, Blondie,” Tony said with a grin before he walked away to his truck.
X
Tony hadn’t been expecting for the vampire to appear in his house the next afternoon driving a jeep and handing him a toolbox and telling him to fix whatever noise the jeep had. Tony understood her actions. It was a test run, to see if Tony was as good with cars as he claimed to be. Tony was more than happy to indulge the blonde vampire, spending the rest of his afternoon elbow deep in the jeep, working on everything that was wrong with it. It was after a long while of rambling that the thought hit Tony.
“You know about cars!” he said, staring at the blondie, Rosamund or something.
Blondie smirked at him, “now you notice?”
“Well, forgive me, your majesty, I was busy with other things… Did you damage this jeep so that I could fix it?”
“No,” Blondie said.
Tony squinted his eyes at her, “we’re going to make it as if I believe you, I have good news though, everything’s back to perfect.”
“Everything?” the vampire asked.
“Yeap, everything. You can check it once you get home, since I know that you will.”
“I could ask one of my brothers to check it.”
“Nah, it's the eyes, blondie, they never lie,” Tony said cryptically.
Rosamund left with the jeep just as quickly as she had arrived and Tony wondered if he had just made a new friend… only time would tell. He actually wanted Blondie to like a car… since he needed a partner (and an investor, possibly), and she seemed like the right person for it. Hell he even had a name for the shop.
Iron Maiden’s Auto Repair.
It was going to be glorious.
Notes:
One of these days Tony will (probably) be able to remember everyone's names correctly... that day is not today.
