Dazai watched as his former partner fell to the ground, looking completely content and alseep despite beinh covered in his own blood and their enemy's guts. Honestly, it was impressive how easily Chuuya could fall asleep.
He snorted to himself, amused. Chuuya had always managed to exceed his expectations or defy them completely, that was just the type of person Chuuya had always been - too loyal and too persistent to really stick to one prediction.
Dazai hummed to himself as he poked his former partner's side to no avail, sighing dramatically to himself as he grabbed the tacky hat Chuuya was so attached to and the coat that had always hung off of his shoulders.
Originally, he was planning on sewing 'HATRACK' into the crevices of Chuuya's hat but stopped himself when he heard the familiar sound of feet shuffling. He could already feel his face light up at the sound of it.
'𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵...?' He thought to himself eagerly, practically feeling his heart race at the sight of what greeted him next.
Before Dazai stood a small, almost pocket-sized in his eyes, boy with the same blue ocean eyes and ginger hair that Chuuya had managed to obtain. In his messy hair sat a braid and a familiar pair of earmuffs that he had remembered seeing when he was only fifteen years old. He wore a direct copy of what Chuuya wore, if only sized down. Even then, the sleeves covered most of his hand.
"Oh, would you look at that? First I found my dog, and now my puppy! Isn't wonderful how life can bring you things that you've lost?" Dazai sing-songed as he watched the chibi version of his former partner waddle his way over to where Chuuya was resting.
Chuu is what the Port Mafia commonly referred to the mini version of Chuuya as, seeing as the small clone would refuse to respond when someone called him any other type of name that wasn't something like 'helper'. It was cute, which was useful for sending Chuu to deliver messages to unsuspecting business enemies to underestimate them.
"Chuu-chan~" Dazai sung, making the small boy perk up. Dazai really wasn't exaggerating when he said the clone was small, only being just above Chuuya's knee when standing next to him. It was 𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦.
"Is Verlaine finally gonna be useful and help us?" Dazai asks the boy with dramatic huff, though it's mostly to test the waters and see how hrash the situation is. Chuu was a good information source, considering that he was the only person who Verlaine willingly took care of apart from the assassins he trained.
Since Chuu was a clone and was genetically modified to be cute and doll-like, it was only natural that Verlaine stole him away whenever he got the chance. That resulted in the braids in Chuu's hair and the earmuffs that Rimbaud once wore sitting on top of the boy's head.
Chuu shakes his head and Dazai melts, now knowing that this situation will pass over sooner or later. Most things went well if you had someone as adorable as Chuu liking you, which Dazai would like to keep up.
Chuu babbles out something unintelligible and Dazai nods seriously, as if he could understand whatever Chuu was saying. This continues until Chuuya stirs in his sleep, making Dazai huff and quickly flee the scene to avoid Chuuya seeing him.
It is only a few minutes when he returns back home to the Agency dormrooms that Dazai realises that he did not manage to mess up any of Chuuya's belongings, too distracted with the chibi version of Chuuya to bother.
