Chapter Text
Anya shuffled through the subjects, wondering which ones she should pick. Finance, English and Maths were already in a different pile left to the side. But what did she really want to do? It certainly had to be something interesting and fun either in school or the workplace it brought her to. Something creative, where you move a lot and go into dangerous situations...
Hunter? Was that even a job? Or a subject for it?
Physical Education was also already a required subject although there were no textbooks for it.
Art was creative. But Anya hated the idea of sitting there with a pencil and paper just drawing in silence.
Engineering was also creative, and Anya could craft her own weapons with it. Still not THE one though.
Firefighter?
She shuffled through the books. Astrology had caught her eye, but she didnt know what subjects she had to do in order to become a firefighter. Anya sighed and placed Astrology into the pile- she would think of the last one later. After putting the subject she had to study away, Anya left the others on the desk and went to the kitchen to make herself a hot chocolate. Loid wouldnt be back for some time and the sun was already beginning to set. Usually the time her shift began.
The key was hidden away on a necklace she kept around her neck along with a knife for absolute emergencies. She could never be sure when someone would recognise her and she had nothing on her. Another knife was strapped to her inner thigh, and another up her sleeve. After opening her little compartment, arming herself with a gun and dressing into a black hoodie with leggings, she opened the window as far as it could and slipped out. She flipped open her phone with all the primary contacts, while expertely travelling across roofs, it had one individual she trusted the most for accompanying her. As usual, he answered on the second ring.
"Yo." The guy was around her age, if not a little older and always spoke quietly.
"Any jobs for today? I need to vent out some anger."
"Theres never been a shortage on jobs. Was today a particularly shitty day?"
"Same old, same old."
"Hm."
"So when you say jobs," Anya hung up when she landed in the alleyway in front of him, "What kind?"
The Fox took out another smartphone and began scrolling through it, "We have the politician from last time wanting a guy called Byron Blackbell dead, probably out of spite since today on the news he rejected some business offer."
Anya sighed, "They all know I dont kill. At least without good reason."
"Im looking, Im looking. Trying to find something that would satisfy you after a particularly shitty day is hard." He scolled through some more before pausing, "Hm. Heres one, but its anonymous. Look." He gave her the phone and she looked through.
It told the story of a young girl who had been raped by a man before the war, who hadnt been found until it had started in which the authorities had given up, then was found by none other than the girl and her mother after walking down the street one day. Following him had revealed his address which was listed as well as his phone number surprisingly. The request was for the man to be beaten and evirated, proof of delivery be through a video recording. The girl- or woman- had already put in a 2000 dalc deposit, another 2000 to be given once the recording was given to her.
Anya looked up, "I assume we're going half-half?"
The fox nodded, "Going over and making sure no voices are in it except his, and they gave us a phone to record it on which we need to wipe down before giving it to her. Delivery area will be Frankfurt cemetary behind the 4th tree from the gate."
Anya nodded, "I'll take this one. Also, any news on our payment."
"If your on about Donovan, yes. Although I left it in our safe place since itll be too heavy to carry around with us for work."
"Good. Im not gonna be able to hide this one, so just leave it there for now and we can sort it out after."
The Fox gave a curt nod. "Alright, you ready to do this?"
"When am I not?" With that, they both climbed up the building, ready to travel to a particular flat.
15 minutes later, they scouted the area, taking a look at where best to break in. He lived on the 6th and top floor of an flat, on a corner where the windows were visible to anyone down below. Anya looked over at the man next to her, who was deep in concentration. She tapped him on the shoulder and beckoned him to follow her. She led him to the top of the block of flats and paced around, taking a good look at what the full moon revealed to her. The Fox watched her until she found a hatch, his posture straightening when she did, "Ahh... So thats it."
Anya nodded. In theory, this hatch would lead them into the building where they could easily pick the lock for the mans front door who they were fairly certain was asleep after watching the lights go out for a while. However, when she attempted to open the hatch, it refused to open, yet there wasnt a lock in sight. She turned to Fox before announcing, "It has to be picked from the inside."
Fox swore. He turned back around and walked over to the edge, looking over for a while. After a few minutes, he disappeared with a swoosh of his cloak. Anya walked over, curious as to what he was doing, and watched him dangle from the window of the flat they were trying to get into, taking a good look inside and then at the ground below before looking back up at her.
"Give me a hand, I think we can break in through this one."
"Why?"
"Its his kitchen. we have to be quiet though."
"On what planet is a window getting broken quiet?"
"Window is glass. He's got a lot of bottles scattered on the floor there, along with broken ones."
"Go ahead then."
"Gloves."
"Right" Anya dug around in her pockets and found the two sets of black gloves, handing him the bigger pair. Once he had them on, he jumped off the roof with a lot more force, and Anya soon heard the familiar sound of glass breaking. She hastily put on her gloves and followed behind, trying to focus her powers on what was going on inside and around the flat. The only thought she could hear apart from Fox's and the panicked man was somebody else who had presumably stayed up. After questioning what the noise was and quickly assuming it was the man getting drunk, he began thinking of the food he was cooking. Anya swung and landed in the flat, just in time to hear the rustling and slight struggle in the bedroom. She made a beeline towards it and spotted Fox twisting the mans arm around his back. He turned towards her,
"Close the blinds and shut any doors."
Anya nodded and did as he said. Once she was done she leaned into the mans face and said menacingly, "Now your quite a filthy person. Karmas gonna hit you good and hard today."
