Chapter Text
Rain poured down from the skies, Mihou let it soak into his fur, admiring every bright flash of lightning and boom of thunder the storm gave him.
He loved watching storms.
Every time there was a storm when he was young, he'd find his mother outside watching the rain, and he would join her.
He felt a strange sense of peace at being in the middle of such uncontrolled, utterly unrelenting chaos.
He rested his head on the railing and stared up at the stormy dark sky.
Lightning flashed, and with the boom of thunder that followed, there was something else.
Another sound.
It was melodic, like someone singing a wordless song.
He sat up, all six ears fanning out in the direction of the sound.
It was beautiful .
It was so beautiful, he needed to be closer to it. His hearing was incredible, but he would only enjoy the song more if he was closer, right…?
Right.
Mihou moved closer to the sound, his many ears made it easy to trace exactly where it was coming from and follow it to its source.
He walked blindly towards it, only caring about getting closer to the beautiful song.
For a moment, he could hear the sound of waves beating along the shore, but the song rose and drowned it out.
There was nothing else in the world but that song.
The moment his feet touched the cold seawater, he snapped out of the spell.
Fear flooded his entire being, violent memories of being forcibly submerged, choking on the water, begging for release, resurfaced.
He lurched back, fur puffing up along his spine like a startled cat.
The fog of peaceful pleasure dissipated from his mind.
He looked around, confused as to how he ended up on the beach when he'd been at his home a few moments before. He took another step away from the ocean.
Rain was fine , any other water that wasn't in a cup was a different story entirely.
He did not like water.
Why the fuck am I out here? He looked around again, searching for what could have possibly compelled him to get this close to the water he hated.
That's when he saw it.
Watching him from the waters he nearly walked into, a pair of glowing, predator golden eyes.
Lightning flashed.
For a fleeting moment, he could see the shape of the creature, humanoid top half, long, fishy bottom half, scales and claws on webbed hands, and sharp fangs, glinting in the flash of light.
A siren-
Her knife cut through the skin and scales of the child’s back, blood ran in rivulets down his pale skin, dripping off and clouding the water the child was suspended above.
The little boy screamed, tears streaming down his face as he begged for his mother, for his pod, to come save him. The little siren didn't know that his pod was dead or locked up waiting a similar fate to him.
The witch turned to him with a wicked grin. She enveloped him in her cold presence, pushing him towards the crying child with a bloody hand firmly on his shoulder.
She forced the knife into his trembling hands.
“Now, Six , I want you to finish the cut I started.” -
He gasped, stumbling to get away from the creature so clumsily that he fell on the damp sand. The siren's eyes narrowed, its head tilted slightly.
Another beautiful, deadly melody rang out through the air.
The song held no sway over his mind this time, he hardly registered it in his scramble to get away from the creature he was supposed to, destined to, kill.
Limbs flailing, he managed to get back onto his feet and away from the ocean.
The siren was still singing.
He gave it one last look over his shoulder before bolting for town.

Mihou woke up to the feeling of water on his feet.
He instinctually jumped back, out of the waves, and reach of the creature within them.
It had been happening every night since that chance meeting over a month ago.
It was really starting to annoy him, getting lured from his home, whether he was awake or not, and dragged down to the ocean, his least favorite place, and forced to relieve some very bad memories of being drowned by his sadistic ex “foster” mother's henchman.
He was convinced that witch didn't even have a licence to be a foster parent and just manipulated her way into kidnapping him.
He sat down on the sand, comfortably out of reach from anything in the ocean. The siren tilted its head, confused. He normally went home after snapping out of its spell, but it was a long way back to his house, and he didn't feel like walking that far right now without a break.
It was a beautiful night too, the full moon shone down from above, shimmering on the water's surface.
He flicked a few grains of sand around with his tail. The siren watched his tail swish with hunger in its eyes.
“You've dragged me out here multiple times and I don't think you'll be stopping anytime soon, think I could get a name to curse for fucking up my sleep schedule?” He prompted dryly.
The siren glanced at him, eyes narrowing further. It shot forward through the water, stopping a few feet away from him at the edge of the water. It pushed itself up onto its forearms, furred forearms, and raised itself out of the water.
Water dripped off rich golden locks of fur, shining with the pale moonlight. Hungry golden eyes looked into his with a startling intensity-
Wild, hungry eyes sized him up like a piece of candy. He struggled against the chains holding him down uselessly.
The caged siren swam closer, circling him slowly, identifying the best place to attack. She licked her lips hungrily, he caught a glimpse of serrated teeth and tugged on the chains harder.
She had thrown him in the pool with a starved siren as “punishment” for running away and being “disobedient”.
She wanted him to kill the siren.
He didn't want to kill! He didn't want to kill!
He had just wanted to go home!
He wanted his moms!
The starved siren dive for him-
Mihou shrank away from the siren propping itself up on the wet sand. Its shimmery tail came forward, it swung it underneath itself and propped itself on its tail like they were legs. The long, sharp fins glowed under the moonlight.
It wasn't like any siren you would expect, instead of the humanoid top half, this siren’s top half was more like that of a monkey demon's, like himself. It even had a peachy heart shaped marking on its bare chest.
The siren noticed where he was staring and grinned.
“My eyes are up here, you know.” The siren chuckled.
The sound of its voice drew his attention back to the creature’s face, and the hungry, hungry eyes on him. He cleared his throat, facing down the creature without any fear.
“I asked for your name.” He reminded the siren.
A flicker of a pout crossed the siren’s face.
“Wukong.” It purred.
The rumbling sound continued.
It leaned forward, eyes half closed, not close enough to reach him, but just close enough to make him uncomfortable with it. He scooted away slightly.
The siren scowled at him, the subtle rumbling stopped abruptly.
He was trying to lure me in again. Mihou realized.
“If you don't mind , I'd like to know the name of the monkey demon who can resist the pull of my song.” The siren said venomously.
Notes:
I'm incapable of seeing these two as anything other than monkeys, so Wukong's a monkey siren, kinda like a Fiji mermaid but obviously less horrifying cause he's real and not two corpses stitched together.
There's a lot of lore and history with this story but it's really fun to work with, I haven't drawn anything yet, but I will soon!
Lemme know what you think!
I hope you all have a good day whatever that is for you!
VJS Out!
Chapter 2: Author's Note
Summary:
An update
Chapter Text
This story is on hiatus for the foreseeable future, I have other stories that are more of a priority to work on and I have a lot of stories that I update each month, and I'm just not as passionate about this story as I am as about some of my others.
Like I am actively working on 8-10 different stories, and that's just for Lego Monkie Kid. It's 10-12 to include the other things, and my Pokemon mermaid AU fans have been neglected for a fair bit just because of time constraints.
Sorry to disappoint, though if you like what has been laid out here and want to write something inspired by this, go for it! Just lemme know if you do, I'd like to see what you do :3
Who knows it might inspire me to get back into this, but for now I need the room in my update schedule for things I like working on more. I may circle back to this eventually but I don't know right now.
It's been 5 months and there's like 5 sentences of chapter 2 written, it's at a standstill right now.
Thank you for understanding!
