Chapter Text
“Alright, Laren, let’s show Lan how we fly,” Oscar urged. “Come on, bud,”
The night fury let out a roar and raised his wings. Lando grabbed onto his husband’s forearms, and the dragon started to fly. Mac meowed loudly from where Lando had stuffed him down between his undershirt and tunic. Like a pseudo-baby carrier (if it works, it works, okay).
He screamed quite a bit as they zoomed through the clouds. Oscar only laughed, holding him tightly against his chest as he continued to urge Laren forward and into the sky.
Lando took a shaking hand off of Oscar’s, raising it and letting it sink into a cloud. He gasped, eyes shining and smile widening as they continued to soar.
“Want to dive?” Oscar asked.
“I’ll do anything with you,” Lando replied, his heart-shaped grin present.
“It’s my honour,” The alpha said, before tugging onto Laren’s reins. “Let’s go down, bud,”
The dragon made a swift movement, diving through the clouds and down towards the sea.
“Holy shit!” Lando screamed, grabbing back onto Oscar’s arms.
Laren lifted just before he hit the water, twirling onto his side and letting a wing skim across the surface of the sea.
“I love you!” The omega declared, beaming almost manically. “Osc, I love you!”
Oscar put his hands on Lando’s hips. “Turn around for me,” He said, voice hoarse.
With only a slight struggle and help from his mate, Lando fully turned around in the saddle so they were face to face.
Oscar tugged his hips closer and kissed him soundly on the lips.
“I love you too,” He said, before kissing his husband again. Lando beamed into the kiss, wrapping his arms around the alpha and tugging him closer.
Laren soon got fed up and let out an annoyed roar, disrupting the couple making out on his back.
“Sorry!” Lando flushed, ducking his head into Oscar’s chest. The alpha only laughed, arm looping tighter around the shorter’s waist.
Mac, now between them, made a disgruntled noise. Lando leaned back immediately.
“Sorry, baby,” He cooed. “I would say we wouldn’t do that again, but kissing my husband is my favourite thing, so you have been pre-warned,”
Oscar’s scent brightened, obviously smug at that declaration. Lando rolled his eyes.
“We should head back. I need to do a stock check before we go out,”
“Boring,” Lando sniffed. “Can I stay with you?”
His alpha kissed his forehead. “You can stay with me whenever you want whilst we’re home,”
“Yay. Can we drop Mac home first? I want him to get settled,”
“Of course, sweetheart,” Oscar hummed. He didn’t think he could say no to Lando. It was mildly concerning, but he didn’t really mind. His mate deserved the world.
“Wait, weren’t you flying with the others?”
“Yeah, but then they all start flirting and it gets gross,”
Lando perked up. “Tell me all, Osco,”
His husband snorted. “You are such a gossip. I’m learning so much about you,”
“Is that a bad thing?” The omega said quietly.
Oscar took his hands from Laren’s reins and cupped his mate’s face. He looked as serious as Lando had ever seen him. “Never,” He said, voice certain. “I want to learn about you. I’m in love with you , Lando, my love. Fucking believe it,” He kissed him once, quickly.
The omega blinked, pink ever present over his cheeks. Oscar only smiled, pleased with himself.

“Be free, my child,”
Mac jumped out of Lando’s arms and began scampering around the hut.
The omega watched, hands on hips, as the small cub made himself at home. Oscar watched in enjoyment, patting Laren’s snout absentmindedly.
“He seems to be enjoying himself,” Oscar mused. “Is he ok to be left? I really need to go sort things out,”
On cue, Mac curled up on one of the furs in front of the fireplace and fell asleep. Lando cooed.
“Why don’t you keep him company, bud?” The alpha turned to his dragon. “You can nap together,”
Laren bounded forward, brushing past Lando and settling down beside the tiny cub.
Oscar caught his flailing husband with ease, watching with a soft smile as their companions slept.
“You’re getting too used to catching me,” Lando decided after he was put upright again.
“You have no balance. Catching you is part of my job now,” Oscar said solemnly. His mate snickered, nestling closer and wrapping the taller’s cloak around his form.
Oscar only smiled indulgently.
In order for them to actually be able to walk, Oscar picked up his mate by his thighs.
“Wrap,” He instructed. Lando did so, wrapping his arms around Oscar’s neck as well. The alpha hummed, readjusting his cloak to fall over his husband’s form.
“Warm?” He queried.
Lando let his face fall against the furs around Oscar’s shoulders.
“Comfy,” He sighed, content. “You smell great,”
Oscar chuckled, kissing the omega’s hair. “Alright then. Let’s go,”
He started forward, hands wrapped tightly around his mate’s thighs. Lando hugged him tighter.
Oscar only laughed softly, continuing the walk into the village.
“Where we going?” Lando asked quietly.
“Told you, babe. To find our supplies for the journey ahead,”
“Boring,”
“Hey, you wanted to stick with me,”
The shorter hummed. “Always will, if I can,”
“Sap,” Oscar teased. Lando gave him a half-hearted swat to his back. The alpha only laughed.
🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉
“That’s Prince Lando Norris, huh?”
Max looked over. Then rolled his eyes.
“Fucking disgusting,” He grumbled. “Yeah. He and Oscar are unbearable,”
The man beside him laughed. “Awesome,”
“Sure it is, Daniel,” Max replied. “Want to meet him?”
“Of course!” Daniel beamed. “OI! OSCAR! LEMME MEET YOUR MATE!”
The couple in question turned around. Oscar stumbled slightly, grip tightening around Lando as he startled and hurled forwards even closer to his alpha’s front.
“Daniel,” Oscar greeted, face neutral. “Please do not shout,”
Daniel only grinned. “So this is Prince Lando Norris, eh?”
“We call him little prince,” Max supplied. Lando shot him a dark look over his shoulder. The blonde alpha only grinned toothily at him.
“This is my husband, yes. So he’s Lando Piastri now,” Oscar said. “How was your journey home?”
“Eh. S’alright,” Daniel shrugged. “Sorry, I missed your wedding,”
“You were not missed,” Max put in.
Daniel pouted. “That hurts, Maxie. Real bad,”
“Deal with it,”
Lando stared at them. “Are they dating?” He squinted.
The two in question whirled around to stare at him. Max looked affronted, and Daniel gleeful.
“No,” Oscar informed, an amused expression on his face. “Daniel used to be in love with him, but got over it pretty quickly,”
“Max is an arsehole,” Daniel explained, grinning widely. “He’s my best friend,”
“Please never accuse me of being into him romantically,” Max said, face pale. “I might have to lie down,”
“Dramatic,” Oscar snorted. “Where’s Kimi and Valtteri, Danny?”
Daniel shrugged. “I came to find Maxie. Left them with the dragons,”
“You… you left your dragon,” Lando blinked.
“He’s used to it,” Max said. “Daniel is a disaster,”
The beta in question only grinned. “Away from that. When did you guys get so close? I thought it was an arrangement,”
“It was,” Lando said. “Then we fell in love,” He rested his head back into the crook of his husband’s neck.
“Disgusting,” Daniel said, still beaming wildly. Lando was starting to find it scary.
Oscar left Daniel and Max after they started to bicker over the best method to de-gut a fish (neither he nor Lando knew how it had gotten to that point).
“Daniel is very weird,” Lando informed as he was carried away.
“He is an odd bloke,” His husband agreed. “He and Max weirdly get on, though. They’re wildly different,”
Lando hummed. “So are we, Osco. I wear my emotions everywhere. You conceal yours. I think we are perfect,”
“So perfect,” Oscar grinned. “Love you, sweetheart,”
The omega preened. “Love you too, Osc. Now let’s do that stock thing, whatever!”
“Your wish is my command, my love,”
Mark and Lewis watched, amused, as Oscar dumped Lando down onto a barrel. The omega hung onto him for a few moments, eyebrows furrowed, until his mate sighed and kissed him. After that, he let the alpha go.
“Hi, you two,” Lewis greeted. “Didn’t think you’d join us, Lando,”
“Osc’s here,” Lando replied, blinking slowly. “Why wouldn’t I come with him?”
Oscar shot both alphas a dark look as they snickered.
Lando ignored them, kicking his legs out like a child as he tucked his cloak closer to his body.
“What do we need to start stockpiling?” Oscar asked, wordlessly taking off his cloak and putting it over his husband’s shoulders. Lando beamed at him, nuzzling closer to the fabric.
“Weapons, armour, probably food. We’ll have to think about how to store it so it doesn’t go mouldy,” Lewis listed. “Might get some extra furs and winter tunics made. With the war and the winter, it looks like it’s going to be a difficult few months,”
Lando looked up. “Do you store things in the ground?”
The three alphas looked over at him. Mark cocked his head to the side in befuddlement.
“Okay. Well. We figured out if you surround food with like, ice, and cold stuff, it like freezes it? And stops it moulding and going off,”
“That’s magic,” Lewis decided.
“You’re a genius, Lan,” Oscar said softly.
The omega ducked his head into the wolf pelt of Oscar’s cloak. Only his eyes peeked out, shining at the three Vikings in front of him.
“It’s just… something my people figured out,” He mumbled.
Oscar put a hand on his head. “You’re being helpful,” He grinned. “I’m glad you’re here, babe,”
“You’re my family now. I want to do whatever I can,” Lando said.
“We’re glad to have you,” Mark smiled. “Got any more ideas?”

There were two new people in the hall: one alpha, one beta. The alpha looked mildly terrifying, and the beta just looked like a character.
“Older Kimi and Valtteri,” Oscar said in his ear as they entered the hall for tea.
“Why don’t you call him Kimi Sr?”
Oscar shrugged. “They’re not related,”
Lando frowned, but didn’t comment as he sat down.
“Hello, Prince Lando Norris,” The beta- Valtteri- greeted.
“I’m not really a prince anymore,” He replied. “It is nice to meet you, though, Valtteri,”
Valtteri inclined his head. “You too, Lando Piastri,”
The omega grinned, pleased. Oscar let out a pleased rumble beside him.
“Apologies for missing your wedding,” Older Kimi put in. “We were otherwise engaged,”
Oscar shrugged. “You’re good. I know it was important. Also, it was quite rushed,”
“When you renew your vows, we will be there,” Valtteri assured.
The couple choked. “That’s a few years away at least,” Lando said weakly. “We got married last week,”
“Good. I can’t stand weddings,” Kimi said.
Lando blinked. Looked over at Oscar, whose lips were quirked. “Explains why you and Seb never did it,” He said coyly.
Kimi blinked, face unreadable. “Yes,” And he said nothing more, instead moving away to sit with Seb and Mark.
“I thought Seb and Mark had a thing,” Lando hissed.
Oscar shrugged. “I think their situation is very similar to the one with Charles, Max, and Carlos,”
“It is,” Valtteri confirmed. “Just be happy Nico isn’t here anymore,”
“Nico’s over there,” Lando pointed to where the man was chatting with his husband.
“A different Nico,” Valtteri said vaguely. “I’m going to say hello to Lewis now,” He walked away.
Lando looked at his husband. “There is gossip everywhere, Osco,”
“And it is all very messy and not worth asking about,” His husband said smoothly. “Eat your tea, sweetheart,”
The omega scooped up his potatoes and shoved them in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. Not for the first time, he thought that he definitely liked his new life here. And the people. The people were great. They welcomed him with open arms, treating him so quickly like a member of their jaunty little (not that little) family.
🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉
“When are you going away?”
Oscar looked down. Lando was tracing a line across his chest, eyebrows furrowed.
“Few days,” He replied.
The omega’s scent soured, and he pushed his face into the taller’s neck. Now used to it, Oscar only started rubbing his hands down his back and through his hair.
“I don’t want to not see you,” Lando mumbled. “I’m getting codependent. You’re my mate. You can’t leave me,”
“I don’t want to,” Oscar said. “I have to, darling. For our future,”
Lando scowled. “I hate those men,”
Oscar didn’t have to ask who he meant. “Same,” He murmured. “Look at it this way. The faster I go and get it done with, the quicker they’re dealt with, and Laren and I can come home to you and Mac,”
“Stop being sensible,”
“Never,”
Oscar fell asleep quickly after that, a peaceful expression on his face. Lando, however, for the first time in his life, couldn’t sleep.
He felt restless. Torn. Annoyed. He let himself pout, frowning into Oscar’s bare chest.
After five minutes, he got bored. He squirmed, slowly easing out of the tight grip his husband had around his waist. Oscar frowned once Lando had escaped, stirring slightly.
“Back to sleep, Osc,” Lando said softly. “Sleep,”
One eye opened. “What’re you doing?” He asked, voice low. Lando very much ignored the flash of arousal it gave him.
“Just getting some water,” The omega assured. “Sleep, baby,”
Oscar grumbled, obviously tired enough to let it be. “Be quick,” He mumbled before falling back asleep immediately. Lando smiled down at him, tracing the lines of his face and his hair. He looked so young, like this. And beautiful.
That said, Oscar was always beautiful. He was very lucky. His alpha was the best, and he’d fight anyone who disagreed (Oscar wouldn’t let anyone fight him and he knew he probably wouldn’t win in a fight unless he had his bow and was a reasonable distance away).
There was a flutter of movement in the doorway. Lando looked over. Mac was wrestling with the curtain, growling quietly.
Lando’s heart melted at the sight. He needed to properly thank the pups for him. It hadn’t been a day, but he was incredibly attached already (that sounded familiar).
He shifted, moving out of the bed and picked up the leopard cub. Mac meowed, immediately wriggling up his owner’s arm and settling on his shoulder.
“You’re funny,” Lando decided. Mac yowled. The omega grinned. “Bedtime, baby,” He manoeuvred them back into his nest, letting the kitten fall into the pillows as he wrangled Oscar’s arms back around him.
“Missed you,” Oscar mumbled, tugging him closer.
“You’re so sappy,” Lando returned, resting his head back on his mate’s chest where it belonged. Mac climbed over his shoulder to rest just above Oscar’s head. The alpha grumbled, but didn’t move the small creature.
“Night, Osc,”
“Night, baby. I love you,”
This time, he did manage to fall asleep in his husband’s arms.
🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉
When Lando woke up the next day, his husband wasn’t there.
He whined loudly.
“Oscar!”
No response. He scowled into his blankets, burrowing his nose into Oscar’s pillow. To his surprise, his cheek met with paper.
He sat up immediately, unfolding the note.
Lan-
Was woken up early by the alarm. Glad it didn’t wake you. Don’t worry, my love. I’ll be home soon, I promise.
I love you,
Osc
“Alarm?” He squinted at the note. He hated reading. Had he told Oscar that yet? He had mentioned he’s not great with words. “I should go see if anyone’s about,” He murmured.
He didn’t think he’d ever gotten dressed so fast. And he may have shoved on one of Oscar’s tunics instead of his, but he couldn’t really bring himself to care. If he couldn’t wake up with his husband plastered over him, he’d continue the day with his husband’s scent plastered over him.
Plus, Oscar’s tunic was a few sizes bigger than his and therefore warmer (he may be bullshitting, but no one could prove that).
When he left the hut, it felt colder than usual. He’d shoved two cloaks on, one his own and the other Oscar’s.
He shuffled through the snow, shutting the door behind him so Mac wouldn’t run out and accidentally fall somewhere (he was realising he was scarily similar to his little companion, but refused to acknowledge it).
Walking into the village, it felt like a ghost town. No one was around. He pursed his lips, frowning into the windows.
Where had everyone gone? They wouldn’t have taken the pups, surely?
He started walking faster, clutching his bow to his chest (he’d grabbed the weapon just in case, because something felt wrong and he’d be damned if he wasn’t armed in some way).
Arriving outside the hut, the pups shared, he could hear voices.
Lando shoved his way inside.
“Kimi? Isack? Kids?” He called, slamming the door behind him.
“Lando!” Kimi saw him first, barreling towards him. “We didn’t know if you’d gone or not,” He hugged him tightly. Lando cooed, soothing the teenager as he looked over his shoulder. The six other pups were sitting around the fire, huddled up under numerous furs and blankets.
“What happened?” He demanded, harrying Kimi forwards.
“The alarm sounded,” Liam shrugged. “So, Seb came to tell us not to come out and that they’d sort it,”
“The entire village is gone,” Lando informed, sitting down next to Isack. Kimi fell down with him, nestling closer into the older omega’s side.
“All of them?” Ollie frowned. “Usually it’s just a few,”
Lando pursed his lips, shrugging off his quiver and setting it to the side, alongside his bow, before wrapping his arms around Kimi. “Osc left me a note saying he’d be back soon,”
“They probably thought it wasn’t bad. Just a normal tripping of the alarm,” Jack reasoned. “Do we know if Fernando’s gone?”
“No fucking clue, mate. I came straight here. I left Mac at home,”
“This is a disaster,” Gabriel groaned. “Should we try and find them? Go out on our dragons?”
“Lando doesn’t have a dragon, and we can’t leave him. Oscar would kill us all,” Franco pointed out.
Ollie snorted. “Franco’s right. I say we should go up to Fernando’s hut. It’ll give us a view over the island, and also, if Fernando’s still here, he could help,”
They all turned to Lando. He blanched. “What?”
“You’re technically our Chief omega,” Liam said. “What should we do?”
Lando scrunched up his nose. “I hate making decisions,”
“Tragic. You’re the adult here. What do we do?” Jack folded his arms.
“Jack, you, Franco, and Liam go to Fernando's; the rest of us will stay here in case they come home and get worried we’re not here,” Lando decided. “I’ll stay here. Have you eaten yet?”
A chorus of ‘nos’ rang out.
“I’ll find a way to cook,”
“Can you?” Ollie asked interestedly. Lando grinned sheepishly.
“Maybe. I won’t tell you what happened last time I tried to,”
